Location, building, terrace, lovely village
The service, many training issues, direction needed for staff for cafe and restaurant staff, We had to ask for the table to be cleaned twice before it was done, we ordered a salad to share as a starter, our main meals arrived first with the salad 5 minutes later, I complained and was more or less ignored, we had to ask for salt after the meals arrived, this is all basic stuff, we travel approx 2 month a year in Spain and stay at a lot of Paradores because we love the buildings. A lot of them have similar problems with staff, a lack of training. The other hotel chain we use a lot are Hipotel's, they staff are something else, they put Paradores staff to shame, get this part of the business correct and you will have an unbelievable product

Upon arrival we were easily able to park right infront of the hotel, easy checkin, our standard room was very nice with wonderful views! The room was quite large, as was the bathroom-clean and spacious. Internet in the room was very good. We took a walk in the medieval village which came to life later in the evening. We opted to have dinner in a local place, El Lenador which was amazing, the food and atmosphere is an unforgettable experience! We were happy to support the locals and they made us feel welcome. Next morning we were the first to arrive for breakfast, it did get crowded quickly. There was a lovely spread of pastries, meats and cheeses, and loads of fresh fruit and squeezed orange juice. We didnt have room for the hot meal. Pricey, yes, but to stay in the lovely dining area with the amazing views made it all worth it! A lovely stay overall.

The room had apparently recently been remodeled. Plenty of space with a spacious terrace and a very roomy bathroom. Did not have dinner but breakfast was a generous buffet with hot meals available on order. Suggest you arrive early as staff is limited in number. Just order your coffee as you are seated and be ready with any special hot meals when the coffee arrives. Staff for two mornings was very helpful.
Parking is mostly below the parador. This can be a problem with anyone with mobility impared issues. The walking surfaces from parking to the reception need to be upgraded. Signs to the parador are quite good but once you arrive it is a little confusing where to park.

We have stayed here before and will do so again. The location is in an interesting, tiny, hilltop village steeped in history. The parador has one of the nicest-ever covered terraces, next to the bar and restaurant, with a west-facing view (ideal for catching the sunset). The staff are extremely helpful. With a parador, you tend to know what you are getting and this one certainly doesn't disappoint.
Nothing, really. Just don't try to approach Sos del Rey by the A1601 (from the north-easterly Cuatro Caminos direction) because that road is appalling. Approach from the south or via Sanguesa. You need to have transport if you stay here - we heard one couple complaining about the very high cost of using taxis to go anywhere.

The rooms on the 5th floor were great, clean, comfy beds and great view's. The terrace by the restaurant would have been lovely with good weather. Nice lounge area with comfy chairs or card tables. Evening dinner was superb, wine was great but make sure you book when checking in if it's busy.. Some of breakfast was good, the fresh fruit option and fresh bread but that's about it.
BREAKFAST! Coffee was poor, served luke warm in pots.....orange juice was putrid (in a country that grows oranges), the pastries were dreadful clearly brought in and defrosted before being served. The hot food option was greasy and poorly presented. Total contrast to the evening service. Sustainability preaching failed at the check in desk with their reams of unnecessary paperwork (this is the digital age!!!)

A beautiful parador set in a wonderful Medieval village in superb countryside . Waking up to the view each morning was lovely and the room was very clean and food good.We had a 3 bedded room so it wasn't large but that really didn't matter. Everything was in keeping and very tastefully furnished in Mediaeval style but the hotel us in fact newly built not old at all on the edge of the village. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we so enjoyed exploring Sos and then sitting on the large terrace with a drink or tea especially as the day grew hotter. A perfect place to unwind and enjoy the scenery and ample free outside parking. A real gem.
Nothing not to like! It is more remote than some but still easily accessible and surrounded by beautiful scenery.

We really loved our stay at this hotel. We loved the building, the room, the bathroom - I’d have stayed for a month if I could have done! The bed was comfortable and we slept so well - we had a really good rest. We had a good breakfast in the Parador and we shared food at dinner - the food was very good. The village is so amazing too - it’s mediaeval and fascinating to walk around. There aren’t many shops or restaurants, but we went to one Michelin restaurant which was not very expensive, La Cocina del Principal, and we really enjoyed our meal there.
There’s nothing we would have changed. This village and hotel are magic and I can’t wait to visit again.

Well placed hotel in a great village as beautiful as you would find anywhere in the south of France. A real hidden gem and I don’t say that lightly as I have travelled extensively. The Paradors provide a nice warm hug to travelers and this one was no exception. The restaurant was fully booked but we still managed to grab a nice club sandwich in the bar.
Whatever you do don’t take the A1601 road from the northeast to get to SOS del Rey Catolico… it is the worst road I have ever driven on. No fault of the hotel of course

Nice rooms, reasonable size and with all the amenities one expects. The front office staff were excellent, as were most of the restaurant staff. We ate at the restaurant and the food and wine were fine and reasonably priced. The town is very small and on a Monday night (and probably most nights!) the options are limited. Great views, only spoilt by the strong winds and the visual pollution of wind turbines in the distance.
Nothing really to complain about. The breakfast coffee was cool, but offset by an excellent hot omelette straight out of the pan.

Excellent hotel building, interiors and gardens with very nice views of the landscape and the historic old village. Restaurant at evening and the breakfast were very good.
Tapas/other food could not be ordered outside restaurant opening hours before evening, so no possibility for food other than cold snacks during day time, even though there was many meals listed in the bar-cafeteria menu cards. Would have been nice to have also tapas with the drinks at the hotel garden and terrace, which were otherwise excellent.
