A truly fantastic building with character, charm and more than a thousand years of history. A large swimming pool; private, free parking; a big restaurant; and well-kept and generous gardens just adds to the appeal. The high ceilings and dark-wood furniture in the bedrooms may not be to everyone's taste, but with fresh, modern bathrooms, we think the combination works well. The staff are helpful, charming and discreet - really lovely people. What's not to like!

Our room was amazing. Quite big, with a supremely comfy bed, lovely quality bed linen and pillows. Bathroom equally large, double hand basins and great bath and shower with plenty of hot water, Breakfast was ok. Limited choices but overall satisfying.

staff reaction on arrival for breakfast wasn't great! No 'good morning' and had to be sought out to order hot food! Stairs are a problem for anyone with a difficulty in going up! No elevator as building very old and probably not suitable.

Like staying in a castle. Spacious room & bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Good array of tea & coffee in the room. Fridge provided. Nice view over the town. Tasty breakfast. Proper key for the room, instead of these new card entry things, which really don't feel secure

Coffee machine in the breakfast room was one of those pod loading things, which are noisy & slow, & the coffee is not great. Would be better to have a filter coffee maker or cafetiere.

The hotel is an elegantly restored property close to the centre of Torroella de Montgrí, within walking distance of the town’s amenities. The hallways and bedrooms reflect the history of the building. Off-street parking available.

Ideal location in a beautiful setting. Breakfast was a typical European breakfast. However, waiter service brought individual dishes to your table. The history of the building is captivating.

No lift. Bedrooms are on the second floor, which is 3 flights of steep steps. Although there is flavour of luxury, the decor in our room and dining room could have been refreshed

Nicest stay so far in Spain, it's another experience to stay at this place. The room is nice and well isolated. We didn't hear anything during our stay. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. Highly recommended, no doubt about it Late check out was also nice

The main thing about this hotel is the lack of a lift. For that reason only we would not stay there again. 100 metres from car park to hotel, then 50 steps up to your room with luggage is a work out, not a holiday.. That fact should be on the hotel’s details.

The hotel was a real palace and surprised us at every turn! We were in the room of Jaume I the conqueror who is a direct great grandfather of my husband so it was so exciting, and we had a veritable suite of rooms for family "parties"!

It is unfortunate that there is no lift in this hotel. Also that we were rushed away from the breakfast table even though it was new year when everybody had been up very late and we just wanted to linger over another coffee.

We were travelling with some food items that required to be refrigerated and thermogels to be re-frozen. The reception staff was so kind and offered to place them in their kitchen's fridge and freezer until out departure the next day. When making a booking, we didn't quite realise that this would be a real historic castle and were very impressed by it when we arrived! We got one of the 2 big rooms. We inquired some info about the castle's history and were pleasantly surprised that King Jaime I himself (liberator of Valencia) stayed in this hotel and it dates back to the IX century! Make sure you ask for the history info sheet! Absolutely amazing!

Just one minor thing: The restaurant staff was very attentive and nice, and the starters were great but I was shocked by the size of my main dish (lamb leg) when it arrived - I could barely eat half of it and I hated having to waste it. I've eaten enough lamb legs to anticipate its size, but that one was twice sd big. I requested that they don't throw it away and at least feed it to a cat or a dog. I would have appreciated being warned about the portion size before making an order.

Most incredible hotel as it was once a chateau. Beautifully restored truly an experience we would recommend. If you are in the area, don't miss it. The restaurant is a reputable restaurant in this area as well.
