I had a huge room with an extremely comfortable bed. In some areas, the hotel could use a renovation. But for the price, it’s definitely a good choice. The sunset from the rooftop terrace is especially beautiful. I also highly recommend having dinner there with fresh fish - it was excellent and one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had.

On the downside, the location isn’t ideal. If you don’t have a motorized vehicle, you have to walk quite a bit to get anywhere. The nearest beach, Secret Beach, is very beautiful and about an 8-minute walk away. Ahangama is around a 20-minute walk. However, if you have a scooter, you’re all set.

The overall staff is very hospitable, always greeting you with a smile to fulfill all your ask. The property manager Hasan is an amazing human and he personally guided us about attractions nearby Ahangama/Weligama and also to our journey to Hiriketiya and even beyond. Also the property is located at an amazing locations with unobstructed view of the entire sea and close proximity to multiple food options. Would highly recommend.

There was nothing much to dislike in particular, but if I have to nitpick, the wifi can be patchy at times. Please note it was fine for casual browsing and net surfing, however since I was working remotely with lot of time spent on video calls, it was a bit of challenge for me.

Our host was very informative and friendly. The breakfasts were our first and certainly the most sumptuous we had on our trip.

We had thought it was beach front. Although there were no buildings between the hotel and the water, it was separated from the water by the main road. The proprietor told was were to walk to get to a very nice cove with calm water and a lovely beach.

The staff's attention was exemplary, with special commendation to Hasan for his gracious hosting Hasan demonstrated exceptional understanding of customer requirements and was consistently available to resolve any issues or provide assistance His extensive knowledge and valuable suggestions regarding local attractions significantly enhanced the experience in Sri Lanka Additionally, the rooms were notably spacious and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness Overall, the service provided was outstanding, contributing to a highly enjoyable and memorable stay. The dedication and professionalism of the staff, particularly Hasan, played a significant role in ensuring a positive experience.

If there is any criticism more tables & chairs on the communal balconies I wider range for breakfast (more of a buffet style). though it was OK it could be better

The staff are very nice and service oriented people. They are always smiling and have a positive attitude. Hashan let me store luggage a day before check-in and organized a car to Negombo on our last day. The room was spacious and clean, equipped with AC, fan and a fridge. The wifi in the lobby/restaurants is strong if you need to get some work done. However in the rooms they use a different wifi which wasn't really reliable. The view from the balcony to the sea is beautiful.

The wifi in the room wasn't good, but the one in the restaurant/lobby was very strong. The way the bathroom was built is inconvenient because the water from the shower runs across the entire room to the drainage behind the toilet, so most of the floor gets wet when you shower.

Our stay at Sanmark hotel was perfect. Hashan and his family were the best hosts, so kind and looking for our better experience and safety in Ahangama. Always looking to help. Also we told him we need to work remote for some days and he offered the best internet connection, even facilitating a router at my room. Also the rooms were so big and they have an amazing roof to with the best sunset view of all Ahangama

Maybe the bathroom could be a little bit better, as when having shower the water was spread all over the bathroom

Exceptional service! What makes this hotel best in Ahangama is it's Staff first of all. The staff is extremely cooperative, courteous and understanding. They are very helpful people. The rooms itself are huge with 2 beds where minimum 4 people can sleep. The hotel is right infront of the beach. You can watch the sunrise and sunset from the hotel itself. Even more better part is it's rooftop area where breakfast is served every morning, the views are to die for. The best sunrise and sunset is what you get to experience from their rooftop. I would love to be back here again. The breakfast served was also amazing with a wide variety. Loved every bit of the stay here.

The hotel is over several floors with a shared balcony at the front of each floor. Watching the fishermen go out and come back in early in the morning was great. We went down and bought some fish and the chef in the restaurant cooked it for us that night - incredible! The little pool was pleasant, no view - but quiet. Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast is a feast! (You pay extra for it) It varies every day! Always fruit, toast and tea or coffee - then loads of eggs done different ways!!! And a coconut! Watching the surfers doing their thing was great too!

No padding on the sun loungers - although they did give me some padding for mine when I asked!

Wow! What an incredible stay - from the minute we arrived we were greeted by Hassan who was incredibly helpful with booking everything we needed and ensured we felt comfortable throughout our stay. The location was perfect as it was two minutes from everything but also quiet so that you can enjoy a good night sleep! The rooftop has the best view of the sunsets every evening and the rooftop restaurant served delicious fresh seafood straight from the boat from the front of the hotel - you can’t get anymore fresh! Hassan and his family and staff are the friendliest and warmest souls and made our stay very enjoyable. The added bonus was Hassan allowing us to stay for late check out given we had a late flight and the rooms were extremely comfortable and spacious. Excellent value for money and we can’t wait to return! Thank you so much!
