We spent two weeks at Paper Moon and would like to share the following: LOCATION & ACCOMODATION Located directly next to Whisky Point Beach, this beautiful resort offers a very comfortable accomodation for travelers, who don’t want to stay in the center of Arugam Bay with all its bars, restaurants and busy tourist areas. Yes, there are not as many restaurant options in the area as in Arugam Bay and you may have to take a TukTuk to town if you wish to have that. The rooms are reasonably sized, comfortable, airconditioned and offer a very large bathroom. The surrounding area is peaceful and quiet. WIFI is fast and works in most areas. The pool area lies next to the beach, with enough shady spots under the palm trees to relax on one of the sunbeds. The closest surf spot is Pottuvil point, about a 15 minute walk on the beach. STAFF & SERVICE The whole staff of the resort is kind, very attentive, always friedly and available at any time. The resort team make sure that you feel well and cared for 24 hours a day. We never received a “no“ to any of our requests. Whether you need your laundry done, any extras for your room or a TukTuk-ride to Arugam Bay - Raja and his team will take care of it. HYGIENE & CLEANING The rooms were clean and well prepared upon arrival. Towels and bedsheets are changed every 5 days or upon request. Room cleaning also takes place every 5 days or upon request. Yes, you will find the occational bug or gecko in your room - you are staying in a very natural area of Sri Lanka (you may even see elephants in the area). Yes, you will encounter some crows or stray dogs in the restaurant & pool area - it is simply part of living in such an area. If you‘re looking for a luxurious 5-Star experience with daily room service and without having to lift a finger - you may want to book somewhere else. FOOD The restaurant offers good local food as well as some „western“ options.

The value for money was excellent and the pools settings was spectacular. I'd like to thank the staff for their patience with me and serving me well during my time there. Travelling solo the other guests were very welcoming and it felt like a little family home. The meals were very well priced, huge portions and super cheap which made a massive difference to the other local places and saved me a ton on money.

The beds were not so comfortable and I think there could have been a better system in place to avoid mosquitoes, but that's nature for you! One thing i will comment on which made some misunderstandings were that when you book "pool view" you do not get a view of the pool. Instead the property has two places to stay "garden side" and "pool side" So actually even if you're on the pool side you may not get a view of the pool. The location is also not in Arugambay, it's in Whiskey Point about 15 min drive outside of Arugambay. This was fine for me as I had my bike, but for anyone else it might get expensive to get tuk tuk back and to for the local attractions of Arugambay.

We arrived and were able to check in early. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help. They organised bike hire which was perfect because the accommodation is approximately 20 minutes ride from Arugam bay. The room was basic with an outdoor bathroom and there is a restaurant on site. We didn’t eat much from here but the breakfast and noodles were nice. The pool was lovely and relaxing and you can walk straight onto the beach which was basically a private beach!

It was far away from any other restaurants but this was fine because we had the bike. Not really a negative but it would be great to add a drinks menu to know what drinks are available. The staff made us fruit juices & water but these weren’t on the menu. Overall we had a lovely relaxing stay.

If you’re looking for relaxation and disconnecting from everything, this is your place. The room was comfortable, spotless, and had everything we needed. The restaurant served delicious food at very reasonable prices. The pool area was amazing and just steps away from the beach! 🏝️ But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to meet our needs, especially Mr. Raja, who took care of us like a father. We’ll definitely be coming back! ❤️

Absolutely loved my stay at Paper Moon Kudlis! The quality of the food was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The rooms were clean, spacious, and had a cozy vibe that made me feel right at home. Having direct beach access was a huge plus, and the pool was spotless and perfect for relaxing. The service was outstanding; the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway! 🌴✨

Place is superb with friendly staff. We had tasty local meals with nice quantity of food except fried chicken. Cook was very friendly man in his mid sixties. Rooms has enough space & well maintained. Overall experience was great.

Pool wasn't well maintained & saw some insects inside the water.

The staff here are so great! Mr Raja was so helpful and very friendly, we got looked after so well! The location is outside of Arugam Bay and it’s around a 20min bike ride into town but we preferred just chilling at the resort during the day, it was very peaceful. The restaurant onsite was reasonably priced too. The facilities here are good but the bathroom could do with a bit of rework.

Mostly the staff was very friendly and they treat their guests very good. The food was very delicious and the fruits and vegetables are very fresh the place has spread through a large area the cabana type houses were very spacious and very much worth the price one of the best we had in our trip highly recommended.

Fantastic location right on the beach! Nice restaurant with decent food!! Could work on the food a little perhaps but it’s not bad!! Great pool!! Great view from the pool and very peaceful area!

I had a very bad mattress!! My partner and I eventually got a second room at the first rooms mattress sounded like a bomb dropped every time one of us moved so decided to stay separately… turns out the second room had a great mattress… so perhaps next time I should just have complained.

What an amazing place! On a fantastic beach (Whiskey Bay) away from the hustles of Arugam bay 10km down the road. Staff were amazing, food cooked to order and great flavours, swimming pool, even has a bar! Spent two nights on our travels around Sri Lanka but wish we could have spent longer. This is a place we will definitely return to. Fantastic value for money, off the beaten track, our sort of heaven.
