The location right by a mangrove forest on the Bentota lagoon is amazing. It's a great place to hang out in the pool and watch hundreds of big bats across the river take off for their nocturnal forays at dusk. You can also watch the giant monitor lizard that lives on the hotel grounds, it's the size of a small comodo dragon. So there is lots of nature stuff to watch. It's also nice and quiet at night. Super friendly staff, too, and more breakfast food than you can eat.

What's not so great is the mattresses. They are still the old kind with the wire springs inside. Not that great to sleep on. As in all of Sri Lanka, don't expect the TV to work. Also think twice about booking the water safari because you are likely to see a lot more rubbish than wildlife. Oh, and remember to bring enough cash to pay for your room. They don't accept credit cards.

Me and my family had an truest unforgettable time at this hotel. It is overlooking Bentota river, the views are beautiful. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, with a peaceful atmosphere. We really liked spotting the water monitors – who make the occasional appearance. All members of staff were friendly, helpful, and always eager to make our stay special, we felt so comfortable and were sad to leave. The food was delicious, we were spoilt with so many delicious foods. This hotel was the ideal place to experience Sri Lanka. We left feeling refreshed and full of great memories. We would love to return one day, and will be recommending to all our friends and family. Also discuss any trips you would like to go on as the hotel can organise this for you, we did and enjoyed them. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so special.

We loved our stay here! It was beautiful and so peaceful it felt like you had your own little peace of the river and Jungle. A true tropical dream! The food was lovely and so were the staff! So helpful and made us feel at home ☺️ We had some great chats with the family and were amazed by the wildlife we saw here in our short stay. The rooms were clean and everything we needed. I would love to return here if i get the chance, Thank you Lagoon Bentota! 😊❤️

Was a little out the way from main town however this wasn’t much of an issue.

Everything was well maintained. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Our young daughter loved the pool and the super friendly employees :) we enjoyed that we could have all meals and drinks right on the property. The view of the Lagoon is amazing. You can see a lot of animals right on the property.

I would only make the suggestion to add mosquito nets to the beds (although it’s more for a feeling of safety, we really didn’t have have problems with mosquitoes).

It was our best stay on our 2 weeks trip in Sri Lanka and we were in 9 different hotels. The room and bathroom were very clean an a lot of space. We can ask for everything. We had a nice view of the lagoon. The Hotel has an amazing ambience. And all people are very friendly and helpful. In compare to others you get very tasty food and drinks for a good price. Highly recommended!

This was the best hotel we had in all of Sri Lanka, the room was very big, the bed was nice, the ac worked perfectly, the shower was warm, the staff was very friendly, the breakfast was amazing; so much food you couldn't even finish, the pool was nice and the garden was full of life! Every evening you see hundreds of fruit bats leave their sleeping spot! BOOK THIS HOTEL!

This was one of the best hotels I've been, such great staff, going through lots of effort to make us feel at home. Great pool with a serene location. The food was so good, we did a lovely river cruise too and saw lots of animals. I will be back!

Beautiful resort with large room and bathroom, facilities top notch. Staff himalsha, nimal and mitu very helpful . Breakfast was superb with variety and large portion. Highly recommended

Peaceful setting but easy tuk tuk ride to beach etc, there in house restaurant was superb as well and very nice staff.

Everything was so perfect. Great view, breakfast really good and big. The host was available to help us to plan our trip. Everybody so nice ! I recommand 😊
