Location is beyond excellent. Swimming Pool is absolutely stunning; huge in size & overlooking the Beach & Ocean. Staff is friendly & communicating with a smile. The Beach Hut (For Food & Drink) ambience is very laid back & relaxing. Food was pretty good. The Beach was mostly clean & lovely to have a long walk during the early morning & evening. The nature trail behind the Rooms is extremely serene. Crocodiles in the waterbody, Eagles flying above, other birds in between with nests in the dense bushes. Extremely satisfying, specially if you are a nature lover.

Rooms, specially the doors could be better maintained. Room Lights felt little less. Mosquitoes & other insects are there. Better to have anti mosquito spray. The Beach Hut could have been made more appealing to the Hotel Guests, like what Amaya Resort just a few metres beside, has done with their Honey Beach Club.

The staff were friendly as always, taking us to spot the crocodiles in the river next to the property which was amazing to see. The location is right on the beach, and the pool is lovely and big. The bedrooms were also a great size, with a very large bathroom.

The buffet did sadly leave quite a lot to be desired. I would have loved to see more Sri Lankan dishes. I tried other hotels around, and it does seem like a sad hotel buffet is offered by nearly all hotels on the beach. The hotel is perfectly fine, but probably could do with a facelift.

Amethyst was a great, well priced stay. The location on the beach was very nice and lower than some of the other, more modern hotels up the beach. Breakfast buffet was extensive.

During our stay, it could be very hard to find a staff member once you are out near the pool area. There was always staff at reception or the buffet, but you would often be around the pool or at the back bars and there wouldn’t be be anyone taking orders from guests.

Location is excellent, having life savers patrolling the beach makes it very safe. We booked Room only and. had River View rooms, but having stayed in Sea View rooms before, felt Sea view rooms were better, more space and proximity to the beach was a big plus. The bartender made great Margaritas.

The food was mediocre to flavourless. Maybe do fewer dishes, better quality? A la carte we ordered came cold.. We went to a nearby hotel for a meal. Informed the FB Manager, who was able to address the quality matter as the chef had been on leave at the time and returned the next day, food was better, but quality should be maintained.

Beautiful quiet location. Nice pool. Rooms adequate with great air con Amazing to watch the wild life including crocodiles in the river. Staff were great and helped me to sort out a lost package. We didn't have food so can't comment on quality. There are a couple of nice, relatively cheap restaurants nearby but not much else. A wonderful break from our busy travels.

The hotel is not as boutique or as posh as others on this beach, but also not as expensive.

We spent two nights at this resort. Our room was very beautiful and clean, with an extremely spacious bathroom. The resort offers a splendid pool and a beautiful private beach. The presence of few tourists contributed to creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Both breakfast and dinner featured high-quality traditional dishes. The staff was always kind and helpful. A special mention goes to Samante, the restaurant manager, who treated us with great courtesy and attention.

Great location on beach front with private beach and sunloungers. Very accessible calm warm waters in this bay in March. Accommodation comprises of blocks of semidetached spacious chalets. We were lucky enough to have one opening right onto the beach. Good sized pool 30m but get in before breakfast if you want a decent swim. Passikuda means green algae and this was present in the river you cross by footbridge to reach your room. Crocodiles swim here and if you’re lucky you may get to see one mid afternoon. Not much to do close by very few restaurants or bars but hotel is self contained with good cuisine.

overall we are happy with the stay in the hotel and friendly staff and it was very clean. even though the beach was busy one the location was fantastic.

we are not happy with the food and restaurant service. definitely service of the restaurant should be improved. our family was quiet large group and they have given birthday surprise to my son and it was good one. Dinner service was not a happy and they are not caring the guests. in the breakfast they didn't refill the items in the buffet. we need to ask many time from the stewards to refill the items of buffet.

A peaceful welcoming stay with Amethyst Resort. So lovely to be looked after by very attentive and professional staff Rooms are spacious and clean. William helped us take our luggage to the room and was super cheerful throughout our stay The food is super tasty and the restaurant team cater to your every need.
