Beautiful location and grounds right on the lagoon. Pool was great - very big and lovely (warm) temperature. Delicious restaurant food. Super comfortable beds. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great to be able to hire bikes from the resort.

Similar to other reviews, the wait for food in the restaurant was excessive at dinner time (the only time we ate there). We waited 1hr from ordering the first night (the staff had warned us there could be a 45min wait so we were prepared), went earlier the second night to avoid the busiest time but ended up waiting 1.5hrs. Learnt by the third night that pre-ordering food for a specific time was the best way to do it. The food is really good when it arrives though. Our room was pretty basic and could do with some updating but it was clean and for the money was very good value.

Riviera Resort has a gorgeous location by the lagoon and our rooms looked onto the water. We loved the stylish, open and airy restaurant (again, with lagoon views). It was fantastic to see so many locals coming to eat - a sign of good food - and we did indeed have delicious, fresh, Sri Lankan cuisine for dinner and breakfast. The staff are very helpful, particularly Jayanthy. We did the Singing Fish boat tour (via the Resort) in the evening. It was exciting and magical to be on the lagoon late at night, particularly because our guide told us that Batticaloa is one of only two places in the world where the fish can be heard. We heard the fish clearly from two different spots in the lagoon. The guide can amplify the sound with a headset if you wish, but there is something very special about listening directly through the wooden oar. Our guide also took us along the lagoon, seeing fishermen, jellyfish and, most amazingly, the Dutch Fort in moonlight. Our guide and driver were brilliant, friendly and enthusiastic - they’re Batticaloa locals so they have generations of knowledge, and they really wanted us to enjoy the tour. Thank you to them for being so kind, especially to our son.

Absolutely loved this place. Set in lovely surroundings with a beautiful view. The pool was amazing. Perfect for laps. The whole pool area was great. Sun loungers, towels, showers. Couldn't fault it. Lovely place to stop at for a few days whilst traveling up or down the coast. Restaurant was also very nice. Unfortunately, I'd just had food poisoning before arriving, so I didn't have a normal appetite, so I couldn't do the food justice. Easy to walk to from the bus stop if you don't have much luggage. The staff were lovely. You can also ask them to refill your water bottle which is great to reduce plastic bottle usage.

The only thing I'd say is the room was kind of small and an odd use of space. The bathroom is very small, but there are bigger options that look really nice if you are not on a budget.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is AMAZING!!! Manager knows how to help accommodate their gusted and make sure they are comfortable. If you are staying in this area of Batticoloa, I highly doubt there is a better place to stay. They do book some big party functions, you may want to check this first … but they made sure our first night was away from that excitable noise. We had to leave earlier than our reservation and their lady helped us rearrange the booking so we wouldn’t be overcharged, this was very much appreciated. The POOL is also beautiful!!!

There are parts of the property that they need to pay more careful attention to; some trails either mud and the pool had a part that was in disrepair … but, it was all still beautiful. There is much future potential here; great for big groups who would like to have private escape. Did not appreciate the 5:00 am loud music that blared in our ears (maybe this was a temple??? But someone needs to address this chaotic wake up, not pleasing at all.

The staff & owners couldn't have been more helpful - the site was flooded and we were helped to move to different rooms. They continued to run the restaurant (with reduced menu) for us. That is why we are giving 8/10. The resort has a pleasant bar and restaurant overlooking the lake. The "couples room" (cabins made from containers) also had a good view, both through the picture window and the outside terrace. The 2nd cabin we were in was newer so quite smart but very small. WiFi and air-conditioning were good. We couldn't use the kayaks or swimming pool because of the flooding, but would have been great.

Our 1st cabin was old and poorly maintained, it looked shabby. It was quite expensive for a very small room.

I liked everything! My stay was superb.. I would stay longer only that I had pre-reserver another place.. The room is clean, had it's private patio, desk, private bathroom. AC worked perfectly. There is a mosquito net over the bed and mosquito net covering the bathroom window. The property is very well mentioned and staff are all so awesome. Special thanks to Ms. Jayanthy in the reception team who was so responsive to my messages. Breakfast included was delicious too. The swimming pool is nice and refreshing, lots of greenery and the restaurant is lakefront, serving delicious food and the staff are so attentive too.. The location is also few kilometers from town, yet a walking distance from Kallady Beach where you can see the fishermen and watch the sunset, small shops around if you need to buy water.. And if you happen to stay Saturday or Sunday, there is the bridge market.. Overall, an amazing stay. 100% would repeat it and stay longer. Thank you :)

Here for 3 nights but loved it so much, we came back for another 3! Beautiful location by the lagoon. Excellent restaurant with friendly, professional staff and tasty food of good sized portions. Recommend the chicken biriyani! The pool was great and kept our kids entertained for hours. Overall just great customer care especially by Adhil the Resort Manager who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. So if you need a relaxing break, highly recommend Rivera Resort!! 👌

The Food was excellent. The Staff went out of their way to make you comfortable The 10-acre property next to the lagoon has been nicely developed as a Green Resort.

I did not realize at the time of booking that we were booking a room made from a 20-foot container. It was a bit cramped but comfortable and reminded us of an inner room of a cruise ship. We enjoyed our stay, but it would have been good to know at the time of booking

The welcome fruit drink is good. The staff, including the security guard, is friendly and helpful. The front desk does speak English. The restaurant area is welcoming and well designed. The large garden around the main building is well maintained. The swimming pool is excellent.

The 'oriental breakfast' had to be ordered at least 45 minutes prior to the time you wanted to enjoy it. My advice to the GM was to indicate it in the menu card in order to avoid disappointment. Most of the waiters in the restaurant don't speak English. They try, some succeed, but others fail in communication and to understand what a guest really need. The mosquito net above the double bed is small to cover the entire area.

The location at the lagoon is just beautiful! The resort itself is as well beautifully decorated with chairs and tables and even a swing in front of the lagoon so you can just sit down and enjoy the view, especially for the sunset. The pool is the perfect place to calm down and relax. The bed was very comfortable and the staff friendly. The food was delicious, I really had a great stay here!
