Beach, staff and the room

Extra room or just extra bed in the smaller room, so there was space for all of us. Small choice of food/vegetarian

We really enjoyed the breakfast and the room as well. We expected bad things from earlier reviews. Maybe they used the feedback to improve everything but we cannot understand those poor ratings anyway. It is a great place to stay.

The receptionist had no clue what he was doing and none of the staff members really knew how to process a payment.

I was really surprised by the great breakfast buffet.

No parking for hotell guests. Alarm outside our room woken us up early at 04.00.

The room was fresh and the beds were comfortable, watch out for the bunk bed ladder. In the small two person room you get a bed, sink, tv and a wardrobe. We would definitely consider staying here for a shorter period of time. The surrounding environment was very beautiful, close to the sea and overall cozy. The breakfast was very nice, pretty basic but still gives you some extra B&B feeling. We found the restaurant pretty cozy. The toilets were clean and okay.

The first reaction we had was to the distinct smell of mold in the entrance by the toilets. This smell were nowhere to be found in the corridor or in the room. However they used strong smelling perfume sticks in the bathroom and corridor, which might make you feel bad if you have a perfume allergy. The ladder to the bed scared us, it felt like you would fall down backwards at any moment while getting up or down. Otherwise the room was good. We had a question for the receptionist, but the note on the door said to enter from the kitchen. We asked a kitchen staff for directions and he helped us get into the very empty and abandoned reception, safe to say we did not get to ask our question.

The size of room was okay. There was sink in the room. Clean room. Breafast was okay.

Room was next to terrace and there was noice until midnight. Not good when travelling with children. Toilet lock didn't work and paper was out. You have to put your sheets by yourself. One of the upper bed was quite scary because the railing was too low.

Cost is too much I think what you get. Rooms are small for that price range. I had in closet used towels. And also when bicycle trip I like to have safe place to store bike. This was first one that didn't have on my way around Baltic sea.

Very nice staff, offering some extra vegan spreads, plant-based milk (it was not available on the first day, but the staff apologised, mistakes can happen) and plant-based yoghurt for breakfast, also decent coffee. Everyone was kind and helpful. The surroundings are fantastic - direct access to the beach and a beautiful forest. There is a lovely open seat area to have a picnic or read a book. There is also vegan ice cream. Buses to e. g. Ystad city centre are not that frequent, so it helps to use the Skanetrafiken app to plan your journey - it's possible to walk to Ystad by foot, but takes a bit long.

The price/quality ratio was disappointing, I paid a hotel price for a place that seemed to me more like a vandrarhem/hostel. Partly, this may be because Ystad seems to be an expensive city in general, so Ystads kommun would maybe be able to do something about this. I do suspect that Ystads kommun demands high fees for hotels, and I understand that at least 50% of this problem is likely not Beach House's fault. For the price of a hotel, I would expect a made bed, but you get handed the sheets and have to make the bed yourself. I did not use the central heating because the curtains are touching the heating element (maybe cut them?), and I did not want to fall asleep with a fire risk next to my bed. It was cold, there were only sheets, no warm blanket, so I slept in my full clothes, with trousers and my jacket, as I was unprepared... The room was pretty dark, and I realised I need more daylight than that in my room to be happy. In theory, it is possible to use the washing machine for free, but it was always occupied, so I gave up in the end and took my clothes to a washing service provider in Ystad, who did a great job. It would surely be helpful to introduce a system where you can book washing times (and remind people to also actually take out the clothes when they are ready). If I visit again, I might avoid Ystad altogether and see if I can find an alternative with more reasonable pricing in a smaller city / village in the vicinity.
