The hostel is 20minutes walk away from Tainan Railway station. Walking from the railway station to the hostel is easy. It is just straight direction on one of the Main Street that starts out from the railway station. The host was great, he was waiting for me. I actually walked past the place, he saw me passing, ran out and guided me back. I booked a private room that includes bathroom and toilet. The common area is at the ground floor, and there is a pantry that provides variety of tea. One can make tea with the hot water provided at the drinking counter and either drink at the common area or at the privacy of one's room. There is also a water machine on the one of the floor(can't remember which floor). The hostel is not too far from the Red tower and Yong Le market where both places have many eateries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Around the hostel are many cafes and bars. Although the hostel is in an alley, the place is safe and quiet. One can feel safe to stay out late and not have to worry. The hostel is also along the major bus route, so it is quite easy to ride bus either to places of interest or to the railway station. One can use the bus card obtained in Taipei for the MRT/LRT. The card can also be used to ride commuter trains or local trains.

The hostel is located in a very central part of Tainan, close to many shops, restaurants and well-connected to other places of interest around town. The owner is very kind and knowledgeable, we had very nice and informative chats. I stayed in the single room on the top floor and it felt like a homestay, the room was spacious and quiet, AC was working perfectly and I had a very good rest at night. Totally recommended if you're headed to Tainan!

Bear in mind the single room is on the third floor and there is no elevator! Not an issue for me, because it also provides you with more privacy, but good to mention.

Room was quite spacious and had private wash room. Included toiletries, drinking water, washing machine (but no dryer). Good location that isn't far from Tainan Station and many bus stops.

No elevator, drinking water was hot or room temp., no luggage rack. Can be tiring to climb up and down the stairs if on higher floors. Edit: I didn't expect a strange response from the host even thought I thought the place was fine overall. No elevator was expected, but I didn't mention in my original post about room appliances not working, poor sound insulation from both inside and outside the room even though all the walls are literal foam pads, lack of shower exhaust, dirty fan, or that I could see light from the adjacent rooms through the ceiling. I did not need or plan on using the washer. I'm not angry at their reply, just confused.

The hostel is in a quite central location but also quiet. Many interesting spots are nearby and can be explored by foot. King, the host, is very nice and helpful (even via WhatsApp if you wish) and also very knowledgeable about Tainan (and probably many other things). His good English is definitely also comfortable for a foreigner from the Western world. I enjoyed the hospitable atmosphere including free tea and water. Furthermore, as a "backpacker" or easy travelling guy I appreciated the free washing machine with detergents. I hope to come back sometime and visit King and his wife again.

Minor element to have in mind No mirror in the room On the 4th floor. If you shower in the morning the pressure is low. It takes about 5 min to get to optimal pressure. I couldn't understand how to use the kettle so needed to go to the 1st floor to get water. Then to the second floor for hot water. Then to my room. But to be fair I did not really ask either.

I had a fantastic stay at this hostel in Tainan! The host was incredibly welcoming and kind, making my experience even more enjoyable. The location is perfect—central and convenient for exploring the city. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend joining the tea tasting session with the host—it’s a unique and delightful experience! Would definitely stay here again.

The location is ~20 min walk from the Taiwan Railways station of Tainan, right in the heart of the Chi Kan Lou area, cozy neighborhood and walkable to tons of good eats. My room was spacious, the bathroom was clean and (even without visible ventilation) dried real quick after shower. The beddings were super cozy. Host has been extremely responsive and helpful. We had wonderful tea times. Jing Jing (doggo) adorable. Will absolutely stay again.

We loved this place so much that we extended our stay! Our room was super cute and spacious for our family of four. Fantastic location, close to so many cool coffee shops. Plenty of restaurants close by. Close to many of Tainan’s touristic sights. Use of the washing machine was a big plus for us. But what made our stay so special to us is the owner; super friendly, spoke very good English, and was always available to answer all our questions. He even took some time to come with us to visit a local temple. We learnt so much about Tainan and the Taiwanese culture with him. Thank you King and Kiki!

I really recommend OC hostel to anyone! I would stay here myself again if I ever visit Taiwan again. The host King is really exceptional!So kind and welcoming. Really enjoyed the tea moment with you :) I had a private room and it was a good room. It was big, had silent enough AC and even a nice sitting corner. Bed was very comfortable. Opportunity for laundry was great!
