This resort is right on the beach, seafront, and you have your feet in the sand the moment you leave your bungalow. For me, that was amazing! The bungalows were all restored and refurnished, and they looked amazing and were very good. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. They also have a beautiful pool, right on the sand, seafront. The beach is amazing, my favourite! We loved it!

We had many mosquitoes in our bedroom, maybe the door was left open before we arrived or when the bedroom was being restored/ refurnished. The internet did not work well, and we also experienced a few electricity cuts during our stay. To go to the property, you need to pass informal settlements or shanty towns, with kids playing outside and locals hanging around. It was not a problem for us and maybe it happens the same with the other properties. We also went by ourselves, but they have transport available and can pick you up and take you there or any place you would like to visit.

The location of the property was great, it feels like you have a private beach and are on a remote island and yet are only half an hour walk down the beach from loads of activities and restaurants. When we arrived the manager was very helpful, offering us to choose from 2 different rooms. The bar staff and cleaning team were always on hand to support you and super friendly. The rooms itself were really nice, big comfy beds, a decent shower and lovely balcony areas to sit and watch the world go by. The bar team would bring food and drink to your room if you requested. They were able to organise everything we wanted to do with ease. Food and drink at their restaurant is on the more expensive side and unfortunately there are no in room options for you to make your own drinks I.e tea and coffee.

Really relaxed environment with friendly welcoming staff. Marlena welcomed us on a darling morning arrival & was a great source of information as we got orientated with our surroundings. Specifically we liked the hammocks in the hotel grounds and the kids loved the hotel cats & dogs.

The beach is stunning but because it’s so tidal & goes out for miles which makes it really interesting g. However the down side is isn’t not super swimming friendly & there was quite a lot of natural debris like seaweed. Another big plus though is the beautiful sunrise.

This place was absolutely amazing. Little peace of heaven on Zanzibar. It is quiet, calm, warmly welcoming place few meters from the ocean. Malwina was so nice and helpful, she organised us a taxidriver, trips and she was there for all our questions. The whole place was cleaned every day, incl.swimming pool and housekeeping. The restaurant was OK with prices and very tasty. Breakfasts - so big, sometimes we had also for a snack, because it was allowed to take it to our room. Animals - this is a home for 3 cats and 2 dogs, they are so nice, not annoying, and it was a part of our amazing stay. Thank you, Malwina and everyone here, you made our stay unforgettable. If we will come back to Zanzibar, we will definitelly stay here.

If you are on the Zanzibar's Hakuna Matata vibe, everything is simply perfect.

Gorgeous, idyllic location; the perfect tropical-island-palm-trees-white-sand-turquoise-water setting. Peaceful, chilled, incredibly beautiful. Lovely pool so that swimming is possible even when the tide is out. Lots of space, hammocks, loungers - everything you need to relax. Friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. Perfect palm-fringed beach for walking for miles and miles; much quieter and more chilled than Paje and Jambiani. Perfect. The sea-facing rooms are wonderful, the smaller rear rooms are fairly ordinary.

Beautiful place literally on the beach with tall Palm Trees that give you the shade you need the most. Swimming pool daily cleaned just in front of our bungalow to cool down. Lovely staff preparing amazing cocktails, very tasty food.. just Pole Pole but it's how everything is on Zanzibar :-) Hakuna Matata :-) Certainly its amazing place for relax and chill out

I liked everything.. I was just a bit disappointed with the size of our 2 bedroom bungalow. We were two couples that know each other since ages but if you need a bit of privacy then certainly that bungalow is more for the family of 3 rather than 2 couples.. However it was not a big issue as we spent most of our time outside anyway :-)

We had the best time at Zanzibar Gem Bungalows. We were looking for a quiet place on the beach to relax and the bungalows were excellent for this. The bungalows are on the beach, you just open the door of the bungalow and see the sea. The beach were the complex is, is one of the most beautiful in my opinion. The pool is also amazing and there are a lot of sofas and places to sit on the beach. The staff is amazing, all of them. They are really friendly and open to help and talk all the time. Marlene is really nice and open to help and organize a bug variety of tours and things for you to spend your time. The breakfast is just amazing with a big variety of things to drink and eat. Our stay was the best, and we really recommend this place if you want to have a relaxing time in Zanzibar. We definitely want to come back in other opportunity

Amazing place to spend in Zanzibar. The room was basic and traditional, but it was comfortable. The food was delicious and the restaurant really pretty. The main plus was the pool, so you can relax and chill when there low tide. There’s a beautiful garden and there are lots of animals around, the dogs followed us everywhere and took care of us while walking on the beach (don’t recommend if you are not an animal lover 😁) but I would love to see them a bit taken care of, as they were full of ticks 😞. We were in low season so there was only us staying at the property and it was nice to have the place for ourselves. The staff was friendly and helped us with everything. They also organize tours and other activities. The bungalows are located nearby Paje beach (just a long walk on the beach or a short taxi drive)

The room would be nicer if there were some more facilities like a small fridge, toiletries (more than just hand soap). There was no hot water during our stay, maybe somethink was not working - it was ok as it was hot outside but not great to wash your hair with cole water. The electricity went out daily, but it was usually just for short time. The tablecloths and pillows from the benches should be cleaned often as the dogs and cats are walking around and there are ravens all over the place. Other than the above, we would stay again to Zanzibar Gem Bungalows.

Pleasant, comfortable, clean rooms. Friendly staff. Owner lovely and very accommodating, went and got extra blankets for my elderly mother-in-law. Great location on the beach, with fenced-off private area with shade trees and comfortable sunbeds. It was lovely to be able to relax without being pestered by the local beach sellers. The small pool was very refreshing and got plenty of use! Pleasant breakfast with fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, pancakes etc.

Not all of the 'sea view' rooms have a direct ocean view and the first one we were offered was a bit dingy. The second was lovely and bright. Hot water was a bit variable - although it was very warm weather, so not unpleasant to shower in tepid water. We had a triple room at the back of the complex and were woken by street noise and barking dogs very early in the morning - this didn't affect my mother-in-law in her sea view room.

The view and the garden packed with coconut trees and all kind of other trees was AMAZING. The breakfast could have been better, but it was enough and we ate it everyday, it wasn't bad actually. The pool was really clean but we didn't use it because it was cold, we had some rainy and cloudy days over there. The stuff was reaaaally nice and cute, we loved them. They tried to help us with everything, and find cheap taxi for us! :D

Crows everywhere, very noisy, they pooped on us 1 day :)) but I guess it not the Bungalows fault, it's just nature .. I had to sleep with earplugs, my friend didn't hear them, but I'm a light sleeper so..
