The best part about my stay was how helpful, kind, and understanding the host is! Thank you so much for a good, though short, introduction to Dar es Salaam. If I needed anything, he didn't hesitate to help. I was happy to have excellent an mosquito net, a comfortable bed, and a private bathroom. Even though I booked a shared room, I ended up having it to myself. Also, I miscommunicated my arrival time, but they were still able to meet me very early in the morning to let me onto the property! Then whenever I needed transportation, the host would call for a motorbike for me, and he helped ensure they would take me to/from wherever I needed. Rose, who helps on the property and who made me a few delicious meals, even accompanied on my first outing to get a few things I needed. Thank you so much! Asante sana! I stayed here for just a few nights, so I purposefully chose somewhere close to the airport. The roads are bumpy and tight for cars/taxis, so either have the host help you coordinate a transfer to the property from the airport, or make sure you negotiate at the airport with someone who knows where the homestay is to get a fairer price. It seems very close when you look at a map - and it's actually a quick motorbike ride and a decent but doable walk - but the roads that are accessible to cars/taxis wind around a lot, so keep that in mind. Overall, I'd recommend this homestay to somebody who would like to experience a bit of a local experience outside of the main part of the city. For what I needed, there was nothing I didn't like about this stay

I enjoyed my stay here! I just needed to stay for one night before I flew home, and it was well worth it. The staff were very friendly, and I felt welcomed into the family. I was the only guest that night, and I was upgraded to a bigger room, which was very kind of them! When I arrived, I was quite hungry and they were quick to make me a snack while I waited for dinner. The dinner and breakfast was good too. It was close enough to the airport that I could walk there in the morning.

It was a little challenging getting there, but as long as you get good instructions, it won't be an issue.

Location close to the airport, family run hostel. Very friendly helpful people. They arranged shuttle service from the airport even at late night. The breakfast was simple but delicious. For a little fee you can get also lunch. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, but don't excect much. For that price a good quality, and a great experience to live with this friendly family.

The road conditions are terrible in the neighbourhood. From the airport the distance is just 1,5km but the travel time is something like 20 min. The only thing which we didn't like is the bathroom. There was no hot water (not that big problem because of the humid hot weather in Dar) and it had a really slow pressure. Also the bathroom was not that clean. But overall a good experience, would recommend the family house.

The accommodations were clean, the food was excellent, the price was very affordable, travel to and from the airport and ferry were arranged by Charles, the owner. In addition, he literally rescued me from being stranded in the city without any money when I mismanaged my trip after leaving his property. His kindness to me was beyond belief!!! Feeling so blessed that I was guided to stay here with such a caring person as Charles!!!

it was just what i was looking for --very close to the airport (maybe 15 min max) with an airport pickup that was on time and helpful-- a local family run business rather than a hotel chain -- affordable and with food options! I was picked up promptly at 11pm and the owner Charles himself met me upon arrival my room was comfy, clean, own bathroom, AC that works great, 2 towels, good wifi, and they refilled my water bottle :) the bed is nice, i slept well! the meal was a simple vegetarian meal as requested, and i thought the prices were fair. the family was very friendly :)

honestly, nothing! some people may prefer darker curtains but the sun didnt wake me up so I was fine! Not noisy at all. There's no hot water but it's hot in Dar and i was fine with that! shower worked well!

Lovely family stay and great value for money if you are looking for a place close to the airport. Very nice breakfast (included in the price) and they also serve dinner every night which was tasty too (Tanzanian dishes) for $4 Loz who serves the food and takes care of the place was lovely - it was nice to chat with her Charles (Owner) was of great help with booking services and also let me store my suitcase there while I traveled around (I stayed with the family twice :)

There are two rooms available - the dorm and the double room. The dorms were in great shape (downstairs). The double room was OK but a bit more stuffy

this was great. basic but very clean. the family are lovely people and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Charles was incredibly helpful in getting me picked up after midnight from the airport. i was quite worried about that. Charles was always very responsive to my calls and messages. which I really appreciated. I had breakfast-toast omelette and tea. Asante sana Loz! I had a double room- very clean with air conditioner. the fan was broken. no hot water. no big deal. the bed was super comfortable. the location is very close to the airport. I booked this on the day of arrival and feel very fortunate. you will be staying with a family who are all sweet friendly people. this is not a hotel or hostel. Charles even woke me up in the morning to get ready for my safari.

The family is very warm and welcoming and the rooms are very nice for the price point. Mosquito net, towels, soap and bedding was provided which is super. It is close to the airport (although the drive is rough) and he has a regular shuttle driver that is familiar with the location and how to drive the roads who he will arrange for you if you request it! And I was able to join in for supper, yum!

The hosts were super nice. They provided us with a delicious dinner. Then one of them is a teacher and showed us the school where he is giving kids extra lessons in the evening and he let us speak with the children. That was a very interesting experience. Overall, the rooms were fine and according to our expectations.

I booked a single room but there were none left so the host asked if it‘s ok for me to sleep in the dorm. He also gave me a refund. That was also fine for me, just prepare to be flexible.

Dinner cooked by the family was delicious, and I was the only guest at the time so it was very comfortable. I had the whole dormitory to myself which was great. The surrounding neighborhood is safe and I took a walk around by myself. Although you will get many stares and people talking to you if you look like a foreigner, it’s all friendly. I was able to walk from the airport to the house!

Interactions with the family were a bit awkward at times but they were very kind and helpful. and the fee for the taxi was a bit higher than what you’d normally pay for a Bolt, but apparently Bolts have a hard time finding the house. Also there is no hot running water but I was given hot water to use while I showered, so it was no problem.
