Breakfast was very good, the rooms were spacious and bathroom and room were clean, well conditioned with an option of ceiling fan which I like very much because I don't like sleeping with an air conditioner on.

The location, I couldn't believe I had arrived at the hotel when the taxi driver told me we had arrived but I guess it caters for those wanting to visit Kariako market. It was my birthday and I was travelling in a group and the others were all supposed to meet me at the hotel so that we could all leave for the port to board the Ferry to Zanzibar at the same time, however, my guests were refused to come up to the room. Hotel missed the opportunity for them to see how great the rooms are so they could also pick Chelsea on their next visit to Dar es Salaam.

My third stay since 2021, and this hotel has gone uphill, which is unusual from my 15 years teaching college engineering in Tanzania. The rooftop dining area is an especially nice improvement, and a very serene way to view a bustling city. Food is exceptional by the same chef that impressed me in 2021, with expanded Indian menu that is delectable. Rooms and beds are still comfy and clean, with ample AC and hot water (not taken for granted in Tanzania). Staff is excellent, and central location couldn't be better for walking access to ferry and downtown area. Will return.

No complaints.

Good-quality, well-furnished room with two comfortable single beds. Nice bathroom with spacious shower cabin, big sink with plenty of space for toiletries, Desk, mini-fridge, plus table for two suitcases, and wardrobe. Good breakfast with Western, Tanzanian and Indian options, and a nice view of the street below. Also a laundry service is available, which we used. The location is very convenient - walking distance to the city center / Indian district and the Zanzibar ferry terminal, and in the opposite direction the Kariakoo Market. And the hotel has a terrace with a great view of Dar Es Salaam. (The view from our room wasn't great, but that was not so important for us.)

The staff is professional and courteous. But we were not able to get information at the front desk on buses to Tanga. We were told to go to a certain travel agency (Tahmeed), but it was unable to help us. Finally we got the info and tickets (sent by phone) from another source (a foreigner living in Tanzania). The reception desk should be able to directly help guests with bus info and tickets, making calls if necessary.

The Chelsea is centrally located. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was able to walk to the museum, churches, seaport fish market, ferry terminal, different neighborhoods, the central market around the corner and many good restaurants nearby. ATM next door. The breakfast is good. Wifi works. The rooftop has great views of Dar es Salaam's skyline and offers dining and beer. The room is clean, hot water and comfortable. I observed solo, couples and families. Short drive from the airport. I would stay here again.

I discovered the wifi did not extend to the rooftop patio but not a deal breaker.

I only stayed here for one night on my way to Zanzibar from Arusha and as it’s only 3 star I wasn’t expecting much- but it’s actually very nice for what it’s worth. I’ve stayed at 4 star hotels not as nice as this one. Rooms are very clean and well equipped, room service is available and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is also exceptional. The dinner at the restaurant was a bit of a wait but was quite nice when it did arrive. They also have a terrace on the roof with fantastic views of the city which you can also choose to have meals there. It’s also right next to a bank with an atm and a convenience store which were both exceptionally helpful as a solo traveller as I didn’t want to have to walk too far by myself. Being on a main road it’s also easy to find for taxi/bolt drivers and the wait when you book them is negligible. The noise wasn’t too bad for me, although I did have a room away from the road so that would affect it.

The menu is more Indian......and has a lot of chilli,the breakfast menu has no variety,it's fully an Indian breakfast.....which does not favor all residents

Good clean room in a central location. The air conditioning worked very well. Was nice to come back to a cool room. It was a pleasant stay.

Their wifi was on a coupon system. Each coupon gives around 4GB of data. I can see this being annoying for a longer stay. The breakfast can improve as well. There was only one meat option and there wasn’t much meat in it, quite a lot of bones and filler vegetables.

This is a hotel that I've stayed at a few times, so there's definitely something about it that i liked, but what made my stay even better was i opted for a better room than the rooms i usually stay in, so it's my opinion that you should spend a bit more and go for more than just the deluxe room. The room I stayed in the TV worked, the AC was on point, i also had a fairly good view, plus the room had plenty of natural light, which can't be said for past rooms I've stayed in at this hotel. But if it's just a bed you need with the basic facilities opt for the cheaper rooms.

We have decided to take the road trip from Kilimanjaro to Dar, and have arrived a bit tired. The hotel welcomed us with great care and hospitality. The restaurant works until 10 Pm but they kept it open for our group and we were able to enjoy a great dinner. Rooms were great. Breakfast was super. The roof top lounge is great too. 15 minutes by foot Azam ferry to Zanzibar. Highly recommend !

It is weird that there are door ring buttons next to the door. I was woken up at 1:30 AM by a stranger who rang my door bell by mistake.

Clean, good service, nice restaurant. Overall a good place to stay in Dar es Salaam.

I had a room with a window facing another building so people could look right into my room, curtains had to be closed all the time. There is an additional 4% surcharge for credit card payments
