This is an unforgettable trip for me. Stella was very friendly and helped me with a lot of problems. This is my first solo trip to Africa. Due to the late arrival time of the flight, I could not get to the hotel smoothly. Stella hurriedly arranged for me to get to the hotel safely. Breakfast is also very good, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. Stella helped me recommend a lot of places to visit, although I only had a two-day trip, but it was also very memorable. On my last night here, I sat in the courtyard with other friends here and talked, which was very memorable. We shared interesting things and experiences with each other, and I tasted Tangawizi, Kenya's famous drink, for the first time. Looking forward to the opportunity to come again!

Best shower of our entire 2-week stay in Tanzania and a comfortable night's sleep on a good mattress in a quiet room with efficient air conditioning. Useful clothes hanging space in a wardrobe, plus a desk/dressing table in the room. Helpful staff, especially the 'boss' Stella who speaks excellent English having lived in US for many years.

Rooms are quite small. Bathroom is a wet room, with shower in the middle so whole floor gets wet. Meal service in the adjoining bar/restaurant is very slow. It took 2 hours from ordering our dinner to food arriving and when it did it was so over-cooked it was not nice. On our previous stay the service was also slow but the food delicious. Current major roadworks meant it took 45 minutes by taxi to the airport.

Great place for a night before flying early the next morning! Would have loved to stay longer! Stella was a wonderful host. She gave us lots of good tips and answered very quickly on messages beforehand and during our stay. Stella arranged for transport to the airport and packed our breakfast. Good and big bed. The shower had good pressure. AC and fan was working very good.

One driver had a little trouble finding Haika Home Lodge at night. But it was no problem for us, it resolved itself quickly. It is just Nice to know beforehand in case :) The roads surrounding the Lodge are in poor shape.

Stella, the manager of the guesthouse, is an incredible host. Not only is she professional, but also accommodating, informative and kind. I had the smoothest experience passing through Dar and would absolutely stay here again. The room was just what I needed, the WiFi worked great and the airport transport was so easy to coordinate. This is the perfect place to stay if just staying the night in transit to somewhere else. They also made real coffee instead of the instant stuff so that was a nice bonus!

A bit further from the airport than other similar types of lodges, but I felt it was worth it for the amazing service and convenience that was provided.

This is truly a home away from home, for someone who is looking for an authentic experience, with all you need, but without any luxury. The staff is extremely friendly, and Stella is the best host. People from the neighbourhood and guests alike come to the little restaurant. They have good, Tanzanian food. This is one of the most special experiences I ever had, and I was extremely lucky to find it. I can warmely recommend it, and will make sure to come back when I visit Dar es Salaam the next time.

There was nothing that I didn't like.

-The host is very helpful and responsive. She gave us a lot of tips and always asked if everything was good. All the staff at Haika is kind and friendly. They all made our stay comfortable and we felt like at home. -The breakfast was tasty and slightly changed every morning, which was nice. There is also the possibility of ordering dinner. -The room has both AC and fan and they both worked well. The AC cools down the room very fast. -The WiFi worked all the days we were there -The location of the place is not close to the city nor close to the beach, as one can see from the map. It is a quiet area and inside the garden it is so peaceful. There are local shops close-by to get water etc. and it is a short 5 min walk to the busy main road. You can easily get transport to the city/beach and it takes approximately 30 minutes to get there.

The room we got felt a bit small since we got a larger bed (compared to other rooms we saw and that are shown in the pictures) but it was not an issue since we had a short stay. It also did not have hot water but it was so hot outside that cold water worked ok for us. We were told that there are other rooms with hot water if one prefers that. The shower pressure was not the best but it was ok. Overall the room was good for the price, it was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Stella was very kind and thoughtful. While our plane had some delay and we had some additional delay on our way to the Lodge, she waited for us until we arrived at 1am. Since we had our next flight at 10am the next day, she prepared breakfast for us at 7.30 the next morning. The room was very okay; clean. We chose the lodge since it was the only place close to the airport we found which had mosquito nets in the room. Very happy about our stay and the hospitality of Stella. Thank you for the great (but short) stay!

Haika Home Lodge is surprisingly quiet, gated for security, clean and comfortable. Our room was on the small side (there are larger ones) but the aircon worked very well and so did the shower in the en-suite wet room. There was a clean, hole-free mosquito net over the bed. It is not far from public transport and, with a guide, we took a tuk tuk from nearby into the centre of Dar es Salaam. The owner is a charming lady, very helpful and flexible; she arranged for us to be met at the airport, and offered delicious evening meals which did have to be pre-ordered but which were excellent value and featured local cuisine. My husband and I spent nights here before and after a short safari to the Nyerere game reserve. When we travel we choose where possible owner managed small hotels like Haika Home Lodge because they usually have more character and are often much better value than the international chains.

We can't fault it at all.

Haika Home Lodge is the most beautiful and clean place we've stayed at in Tanzania, although for a very short time (just one night), as we were in Dar es Salaam only in transit. The staff was exceptionally friendly and kind. Stella provided us with a lot of helpful information before our arrival, assisting us in finding the most affordable way to reach the property from the airport. She also sent us the menu in advance so we could order dinner. The dinner turned out to be the most delicious food we've tasted in Tanzania (I was sad I couldn't finish everything on my plate, but there was so much 😀). Additionally, the breakfast was delightful and substantial. We are grateful to Stella and her staff for making our short stay very pleasant.

The property is in a very good location outside the city center, close to the airport and the bus station. Definetley a good place where to spend a night before starting the holiday or going back home. In fact the place stands out for its garden and comfortable amenities, spacious and well looked after. The neighbourhood also offers both local and more elegant options. It's tucked away from the noises but still gives an impression of local life in Dar. Stella was very very accomodating and helpful. She helped us to organise our transports many times. We didn't manage to try dining there but there were many options and the breakfast was really delicious. Definetley recommended!
