The lobby smelled nice and the rooms were modern

When we tried to check-in at 2am, after asking to pay with Amex the guy didn't know if they accepted it and that he would try. Then without trying he said cash would be better, but had no change in euros (hotel room was priced as 21€). Then when we tried to pay in Turkish lira, he agreed that 300 was good. But after giving him the money he asked for, he then said we had to give 50 more (current exchange rate would've been 326 lira). He tried to justify it with "price changes during the night". So instead we wanted to pay by card, and at that moment he suddenly said they didn't take amex. Then we tried to pay by visa, and he still wanted to mark up the price to 350 lira. After telling him we'd pay 326 lira by card (current exchange rate for the room price) he accepted 300 in cash instead. All in all, a huge headache to deal with at 2am and the worst check-in experience I've ever had anywhere I've stayed.

The staff was very nice and tried to accomodate as as best they could

So this place is cheap but the pictures online look good so we thought we found ourselves a good deal. Here's what you get for the money you save. The first room they offered had a bed with a broken mattress. It was dropped on one side by about 15 cm. I would be surprised if anyone could sleep there. So we switched. This second room had an intact bed so we took it since we had already paid. Half of the items in the room were somewhat broken.The wallpaper was peeling. The toilet and bathroom corners were filthy, the sink did not drain. The shower used to have a glass cabin but half of each side was missing so you had no choice but to turn the bathroom into a small pool and the bathroom furniture was peeling. The next day another room became available ( i repeat the staff tried their best)..This one was a little better, but again peeling walls dirty tub with brown water that was leaking underneath.. The shower cord was broken in two places so it sprayed everywhere. The place used to be nice. But everything is kinda broken and nobody seems to mind..
