What a lovely hotel! I don't often book rooms in pubs due to the noise, but these rooms were separate to the main building, and so peaceful and quiet, with the sound of the river to lull you to sleep. Huge rooms, huge comfy bed, lovely bath. Helen was so welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. Minor issue with the heating was resolved as soon as I brought it up. Great value for money. Will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in the area!

I'm being really picky here, but some bigger towels would have been nice - I'm only 5' 2" and the big towels didn't even cover me!

The White Mare was an excellent stop in Beckermet. We were there to visit family, who lived right around the corner. Our family recommended we stay there and it was perfect. While we normally just get one room for the 4 of us, we split into two rooms and the price was reasonable. The rooms were nicely decorated, clean, and had an excellent tea selection! We booked a night in the restaurant for our family, all 7 of us, and it was an outstanding evening. Excellent service, wonderful food, great prices, and a beautiful location. We will certainly make the White Mare our destination for visiting family in Beckermet, and in fact, it was so convenient that we'd like to make an extended visit next time. We also think its a great location to "get away" from the larger villages, perfect for walking St Bees Head/Fleswick Bay, then returning for a cozy dinner in the restaurant. We had one room above the pub and it didn't seem too loud, as the pub closes around 9pm.

Would have been nice to have two beds in one room for our family of 4, but that being said, it was easy and affordable to split into two rooms. Not much else to say - it was great! Would highly recommend!

We were very happy with our stay at The White Mare, it fulfilled all our needs. There was only one hitch - my husband drew all of the curtains as we got ready for our evening out. So when we returned later that evening and couldn't find any tea, coffee or cups I went round to the bar to ask for some. The next day as we got ready to leave, low and behold all the things we needed the night before were on the window sill, behind the curtains. I blame my husband! Anyway thank you to all the kind staff who made us welcome. We had a lovely weekend.

Love the comfy rooms, large bed, fresh super clean sheets and towels. The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage. Coffee pod machine and tea making facilities with plentiful supplies. Shampoo and shower gel are good quality too. The carpets had been replaced since our last visit. We visited with family, they stayed in the room upstairs and loved it too. The building is separate from the pub and very quiet, it closed just after 11 so perfect ! We met up with other family for a meal in the pub and the foods lovely, freshly cooked home made, good portions and quality. The staff are so lovely and helpful, we would definitely recommend . Close to StBees, Whitehaven etc for sightseeing

There’s no breakfast but we knew this and planned to go nearby, we also had a small fridge and drinks facilities so not a massive issue

Great place, beyond my expectations, great dinner, superb chef, smiling, friendly staff. You wont find such great 5 star dinner for that price anywhere in the country. Rooms are exceptionally large, equipped with a little fridge for your own drinks, tea-making facilities and topped up with your own in-room coffee-making machine with coffee tubs. The stairs could do with a pit of paintwork and well, the toilet extractor fans were on holiday on the day of our visit, but who cares, it was a great place

Friendly staff and locals. Great local beer. Room was new, clean and very comfortable. Lovely listening to the river outside to get to sleep. Good facilities like decent coffee maker, fridge, TV and nice hot shower. Will absolutely stay again.

Minor too and fro with check in times. It was tricky after 10pm but the staff managed to thankfully accommodate on this occasion. The pub could really benefit from some form of Breaky option. But there's a cafe less than 10 mins drive just up the road.

No breakfast available. Ate in the restaurant, the food was good and at a good price. Rooms were lovely. Very clean, nice quality bedding. Courtesy tray in bedroom with tea, coffee and biscuits was a nice extra. Very quiet location

Although the rooms were lovely, the courtyard outside was a bit dilapidated and untidy. It could have been easily tidied up or refurbished to make it more attractive. The room was a little cold. The window fastenings were loose. However we would stay again.

It’s a lovely country pub. It was nice that it had separate entrances to the rooms and that there were only 2 rooms in each area. The room itself was a lovely large room and tastefully decorated with lovely lamp also. Also a lovely size bathroom. The bathroom was spotless also as were the room with the exception of the spider webs.

The access to the rooms at night was fairly dark, the yard before the stairs had cigarette butts in there and just looked untidy and unkempt. The archway was lined with big bins and I appreciate they have to go somewhere but just felt it spoilt the character of the archway. The hallway to our room had lots of spiders webs and nests and there were also a few spiders and webs in our room, our shower screen also leaked and despite my husbands best effort to turn the shower head away from the shower screen the water still leaked and soaked my husbands clothes. The tv would benefit from being bigger given the distance from the bed itself and the mattress was hard which left me in pain on both nights.

The room was quite large clean with all amenities

A bit disappointed with the food at the restaurant.. The sauces with my starter and pasta dish was very thin and tasteless, the garlic bread was placed on the side of the bowl not on a side plate. My partners meal supposed to be the chefs hot Thai curry was bland and the naan bread cold... Did we complain no.. Pleased we didn't after listening to the chef 3 days later sat outside with the locals slagging of other customers who had the nerve to complain very unprofessional

Large room, very clean. Fantastic home made food available. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It is obviously a popular local pub and we had the pleasure of meeting some lovely, interesting people. Quiet location. Perfect for our stay.

Not a problem for us but access to the room was via external stairs which could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.
