Breakfast was amazing and the accomodation excellent.

Being told to move my car as some Ferrari owners had 'reserved' most of the car park. The staff were very polite about it (and a bit embarrassed) but it did sour the visit by making us feel second rate. It also meant we had to carry our bags twice as far. I would suggest in future they warn people if there will be limited parking due to other patrons being prioritised as more deserving.

The room was super cozy and spotless. The bathroom was huge, with both a bathtub and a shower, plus a big mirror. The lighting was warm, and there was a large TV with AirPlay, which was really convenient. They always refilled the water by the bed, and the fridge had plenty of free flavored water. Breakfast in the morning was tasty with lots of options, and in the evening we enjoyed the hotel restaurant — the food was great and the atmosphere very comfortable. The staff were friendly, polite, and always happy to help.

There was one small thing that left me a bit uncomfortable, even though it was partly my fault. I hadn’t been able to book a table in advance, so I tried to come to the restaurant later when it was less busy. The staff politely explained that reservations are required but still found us a table, which I truly appreciated. However, what spoiled the moment slightly was that the host who seated us went over to the bar where the other staff were standing and, rather loudly, made a joke about me coming again without a reservation. Unfortunately, I could hear it from my table, and it felt a little disrespectful.

Location is ok, but not particularly near any major attractions or the coast. We stayed here particularly for the experience of staying in a prison. The bathroom and toiletries were exceptional. Having free soft drinks in the fridge was also a nice bonus. The air con was very good. The absolute star of the show was the deputy manager Wilson. He stepped in and personallly drove us to and from a restaurant (twice!) when our taxi didn’t show. Exceptional service.

The twin beds were very narrow and mattresses uncomfortable, we didn’t sleep particularly well. Most staff were lovely especially in the restaurant at breakfast and also in the evening. All the cleaning staff were polite and efficient. There was a receptionist that looked distinctly unwelcoming and was quite abrupt, we reported a broken shower knob to her but it wasn’t repaired during the following 2 nights we were there. Not a big issue as the shower still worked fine.

Found the room to be very very hot on a still, close night even with ac turned to coolest it would go. The champagne bar had run out of champagne at 7pm when my husband went to get some for our room when getting ready for our meal, celebrating our 30th anniversary. Husband said the barman looked and eventually said I can do you a glass of white and one rose that’s all we have. He poured the rose and then the white which only had about a quarter of the glass so gave him that free. When I drank the rose, which we paid £19 for it was quite flat - that was disappointing on the whole and I’m surprised it was allowed to happen. We had cocktails and wine instead when going down to dinner.

Wonderful venue and very different from most hotel stays. Very well presented and the staff are very accommodating.

The postcode does not take you to the site. We ended up down some country lane outside someone’s house and had to ask for directions from a local resident. It appears day visitors to the tour site choose not to park in the provided parking area, instead parking on the road which caused significant congestion and risk to people crossing the road. I guess the parking fees may be quite high and clearly the road would benefit from restricted parking or double yellow lines. Again, for locals it must be a real pain.

Beautiful and imaginative restoration. A slice if history saved. Rooms comfortable and clean. Good quality linens. Friendly crew. Food overall at breakfast and dinner very good to excellent. Both of my first food choices at breakfast (fish) and dinner (burger) were disappointingly unavailable but considered a good sign. Menus reassuringly short. Free on site parking. Doggy friendly. B and B good value for what you get. Pop into town for a pre dinner pint at the Hole in the Wall. 10 minute walk. Wonderful locals' pub recommended in the Good Beer Guide and Good Pub Guide.

Only one arm chair in room. Pillows a bit hard. Wines and cocktails expensive. Bodmin town is depressing.

This was such a unique experience, not something I will soon forget. The building itself has so many historical facts and interesting stories and even some spooky ones. We did the guided tour, absolutely amazing. Very interactive. Ample parking. Breakfast and dinner in the chapel restaurant were great, restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. Last but not least, I loved our room !!! Even had a framed story of an inmate. Oh yes, and the complimentary bar was a huge surprise.

The rest of the staff were not very friendly or helpful. Just there to do a job, not well informed at all, about anything I've asked them..

It’s an experience hotel where you can immerse yourself in the history of the place and make discoveries about what it would have been like to have been interred there, albeit in complete luxury and not as it would have been in the 18th century! Fabulous comfortable and well appointed rooms with all the amenities necessary and helpful staff to ensure your stay is comfortable. The restaurant food is delicious and beautifully presented, and a visit to the champagne bar a must.

Breakfast was a bit chaotic, we were asked to book a time slot but the restaurant was madly busy and just seemed to be a bit disorganised! Having said that it was delicious once we were seated.

The room was exceptionally comfortable. The bed was large with great pillows. It had a very good ensuite with a very powerful shower. It was all very clean. There was a mini-bar with complimentary soft drinks and real milk for tea and coffee. It was lovely and quiet. It was a dog friendly destination. Our dog settled there well and enjoyed her breakfast sausage each day. The staff were professional and friendly. We liked the little touches, such as their stripey tops with "property of hmp Bodmin." The building maintained its history whilst being luxurious for guests. There was plenty of easy parking. The breakfasts were delicious.

Bodmin was central to many locations we wanted to visit, but Bodmin itself was a bit disappointing.

Beds are comfortable and the shower is first class. Breakfast is brilliant and the chapel dining room is magnificent. Choice is excellent. Not too much emphasis on vegan rubbish. Excellent parking just outside. The building and it's history are fascinating and the restoration is excellent.

It was all excellent with little to dislike. The washbasins are really annoying because there is no plug to put in. The water just runs away so you can't fill a bowl of water. Stupid idea, but overall this is a small thing.
