Breakfast was amazing and the accomodation excellent.

Being told to move my car as some Ferrari owners had 'reserved' most of the car park. The staff were very polite about it (and a bit embarrassed) but it did sour the visit by making us feel second rate. It also meant we had to carry our bags twice as far. I would suggest in future they warn people if there will be limited parking due to other patrons being prioritised as more deserving.

This was such a unique experience, not something I will soon forget. The building itself has so many historical facts and interesting stories and even some spooky ones. We did the guided tour, absolutely amazing. Very interactive. Ample parking. Breakfast and dinner in the chapel restaurant were great, restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. Last but not least, I loved our room !!! Even had a framed story of an inmate. Oh yes, and the complimentary bar was a huge surprise.

The rest of the staff were not very friendly or helpful. Just there to do a job, not well informed at all, about anything I've asked them..

The room was exceptionally comfortable. The bed was large with great pillows. It had a very good ensuite with a very powerful shower. It was all very clean. There was a mini-bar with complimentary soft drinks and real milk for tea and coffee. It was lovely and quiet. It was a dog friendly destination. Our dog settled there well and enjoyed her breakfast sausage each day. The staff were professional and friendly. We liked the little touches, such as their stripey tops with "property of hmp Bodmin." The building maintained its history whilst being luxurious for guests. There was plenty of easy parking. The breakfasts were delicious.

Bodmin was central to many locations we wanted to visit, but Bodmin itself was a bit disappointing.

Beds are comfortable and the shower is first class. Breakfast is brilliant and the chapel dining room is magnificent. Choice is excellent. Not too much emphasis on vegan rubbish. Excellent parking just outside. The building and it's history are fascinating and the restoration is excellent.

It was all excellent with little to dislike. The washbasins are really annoying because there is no plug to put in. The water just runs away so you can't fill a bowl of water. Stupid idea, but overall this is a small thing.

On site parking. The staff at reception were friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable and clean, with complimentary mini-bar and well-stocked tea/coffee facilities. The onsite restaurant was very good, and breakfast excellent with a choice of hot food cooked to order, and a buffet with bread, pastries, fruit, cheese, etc. And of course the fascinating location; Despite being converted into a smart hotel, you never lose sight of the fact that this was once a notorious jail.

I always try to find something to dislike about the accommodation, and this time it was a little difficult. So here goes: The mattress was slightly harder than would have been my preference (but I had an excellent night's sleep). And the lighting in the room and bathroom was just dim enough that I had to take extra care when applying make-up.

Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and fabulous bathrooms. The restaurant is charming, and the food was mostly excellent—especially breakfast, which was a real highlight. Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. That said, room cleaning was a bit inconsistent, which stood out given the overall quality of the place. One downside was being asked about leaving gratuities for all staff at checkout, despite already having paid nearly £500 for food and drinks over three nights, with a 20% service charge already included. It felt a bit awkward and detracted slightly from an otherwise wonderful experience.

EVERYTHING! Fantastic place to stay. First, we want to give kudos to the staff. Jade, Oli, Caitlyn, and everyone in reception were friendly, helpful, and efficient. Wait staff in the dining room at both breakfast and dinner were wonderful. Aday was our dinner waiter both nights and was very friendly. We weren't able to get the names of the others, but they were great. Staff we met anywhere in the hotel were friendly. We loved our room. Whoever designed the rooms "did it right" by maintaining the integrity of the original cells to create comfortable and unique rooms (each room consists of 3 original cells: bathroom, sitting area, bedroom area), including the stone walls and ceilings. Our bathroom had both a shower stall and a separate tub. The bed was very comfortable. There was a safe available to use in the room. The food for both breakfast and dinner was delicious. The hotel is conveniently located across from the Camel Trail, which we availed ourselves of for a pleasant walk. We are glad we treated ourselves to 2 nights at the Bodmin Jail Hotel to give us some relaxing time in a unique setting before our 10-day Cornwall hiking trip.

Fabulous and full of character. One of the best designed bathrooms ever, nice touch with the complimentary drinks fridge, an exceptional breakfast menu and service to complement - overall a wonderful stay and very convenient after the Eden project

Reception didn’t link well with the Jail attraction - guests ahead of us were entitled to complementary access as advertised on their website which reception was unaware of, although she did mention to us that there is a discount for hotel residents. Both were remedied at the attraction but should have been smoother at check in I think. Also the water in the bath was so hot with no cold water that it was wasted and I missed my bath. And annoyingly housekeeping knocked on our door at 9am ??

If you are looking for a quirky unique stay then this hotel fits the bill. Rooms are fabulous and there are loads of nice touches round the hotel, like pictures and bits of information about the history of the place.

Breakfast isn’t great. Particularly if you are vegan or have dietary requirements. No baked beans, or vegetarian sausages and the potato rosti is cooked in butter. No vegan yoghurt or pastry/cake options etc. Nothing is allergen labelled. It’s a lot to spend to be honest when you are left with such limited choices. They ask you to book a specific time for breakfast as well which we didn’t want to as we were on holiday so felt like we wanted to be a bit more relaxed and go with the flow.

The rooms are exceptionally good, and the bathrooms are good too. The mini fridge is generously stocked with good quality local soft drinks. The building and how it looks is just beautiful, and it is why we keep returning. The gym is a nice addition.

The food continually let's the hotel down. The Chapel restaurant is way below average, and the former Court Yard restaurant has been replaced by a low rent cafe. It let's the entire experience down and could possibly stop us from returning. It needs someone with a strong food hospitality background to grab it by the scruff of the neck and change the lot. But after going there for 4 years now the problems have only become worse. This time we had to get a Domino's and the drive up to the hotel regularly had food delivery companies delivering up it.
