Perfect location to visit the city, used the long stay at the train station, a five minute walk. Very welcoming staff on hand and really felt like a local hotel .

Lights are a little dim and bed is a bit springy.

Very handy for bus and train stations. Great room with en-suite. Comfortable bed. Good hot and powerful shower. Fantastic bar/restaurant staff - always friendly and helpful. Very good menu (they even had lamb's liver with mash, gravy and plenty veg) - reasonably priced and gigantic portions. Fair bar prices ... double Grouse (Scotch whisky) with lemonade for £6.

Breakfast is left outside your door - it is a large chocolate muffin, cereal bar and apple. For the nightly price (over £100/night), you would expect a cooked breakfast option. The lunch/evening menu is great ... so there shouldn't be any problem providing a simple, cooked breakfast option (such as a bacon roll or link-sausage roll.) They could even just microwave the breakfast rolls!

Fantastic location, very close to the railway station and only about 10 minutes walk to the centre of town. The staff were all absolutely lovely, so friendly and welcoming and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing too, I was genuinely impressed.

Any complaints will be super nit-picking because overall it was such a good experience but if I had to come up with something I would say it's a shame the reception on the tv wasn't very good so I could only get a couple of channels. Also, it's not a problem with the hotel but something to be aware of; if your room is at the front then wear earplugs to bed - it's a university town and so you'll get groups of enthusiastic youngsters wandering past in the wee small hours being rather noisy :D Seriously, that's the worst I could come up with.

This was a great place to stay. The people are absolutely lovely, and can't do enough for you. The location is convenient for railway station, bus station, and the centre of town is a short walk away. It also has a restaurant open every evening, with a good choice of beautifully-cooked food and generous helpings.

The only problem with the room (no 3) is abysmal lighting; it wasn't possible to read comfortably even during the day. Comfortable bed and good-quality linen.

The location of this hotel is excellent if arriving by train, being located right opposite the station approach, great if you’re arriving by train and only a short walk from the centre of Durham. The hotel were happy to store our bags free of charge after check-out until our train later in the day, a really useful facility and a good saving compared to other luggage storage locations. All the staff were very friendly, chatty, welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Room at the back was quiet with little road noise or noise from the bar and trains on viaduct above were not noticeable.

Some of the carpet and fittings were worn, but still functional. Slight noise from extractor fan at adjacent pizza takeaway, but not noticeable after a while.

Location. Value for money. Efficient for breakfast for eg. Back entrance via fire escape though but unnerving that it’s unlocked all day. Comfy bed. Friendly cooperative staff - thank you

Bit noisy through the floor from Quiz night in the bar! TV too small to be able to read when sitting on bed. Shower cubicle too small to be practicable. If you’re tall, it’s impossible to pick up anything dropped on the floor without busting out of it. Nowhere to put wash bags in bathroom.

There was a 'continental breakfast' breakfast provided which was not what I would have chosen but it set us up for the morning. The staff were very friendly and the chicken parmo which is a local delicacy was amazing and not to be missed in the pub dining room. Nice coloured leaded light windows in the bedroom.

A proper breakfast but in such a small hotel I appreciate this may not be viable

Friendly and helpful staff and a really excellent location--less than five minutes' walk from the train station and a short stroll into town. I also had a nice view of the cathedral from my room.

The WiFi connection is as bad as people say. But it's not so bad if you're prepared to go downstairs to the pub to use the connection there. The shower cubicle doors also didn't fully close, meaning water leaked onto the floor.

Hotel location fantastic - short distance to uni accomodation and train station. Short walk to town and near park. The Bridge Hotel was lovely. All facilities clean and working, friendly and welcoming staff. Breakfast basket left outside room in eve. Returned to hotel next eve for a lovely meal before return journey home. Will gladly stay again.

Can't think of anything.

The location is great. You are five/ten minutes from the centre of Durham. The room was not noisy despite being over a pub. The room was quite spacious. The staff were really friendly when I arrived to check in and when I checked out as well.

Nothing really. It was all fine.
