Beautiful location. Lovely building. Friendly staff. Beautiful location! It really is, so I'm putting it twice! If you want a stroll rather than a hike, pop over to Great Ayton and walk along the river. There are so many benches to stop and sit.

The room was small, and we struggled around our cases. Less a didn't like and more a tip / feedback. There was no mirror for shaving. The bathroom mirror was on the opposite wall to the sink. Made it a little awkward for my husband. For me, I'm 5 ft. I couldn't see in the mirror at all. There was a full-length one in the bedroom so it wasn't impossible. Just a little awkward doing hair and makeup. A small mirror behind the sink would be great, though the space is limited due to the eaves.

The room was comfortable and quiet at night for sleeping. Breakfast was excellent for egg lovers. An additional non-egg option for variety would be nice for those staying many nights (we were there for 5 breakfasts), for example pancakes or waffles or home made granola bowl. We ate dinner 4 nights at the pub and the food was generous, tasty and varied…as were the drinks! Location was good for many activities: Whitby, World of Iron museum, Cleveland way walks, Helmsley market and Riveaulx Abbey…not to mention walking up Roseberry Topping right next to the Inn.

It would have been nice to have access to gym facilities, or bicycles to explore the area.

We started out in Whitby, spent a few hours there and then traveled across to the kings head. I think it took about 35 minutes. It's also 5 mikes away from a Morrisons and an Aldi. The whole place has a really relaxed feel to it which is what I was after. The views of the hill is fantastic. the way the building looks against the hill is the reason we came this way. The views didn't disappoint. The restaurant and bar were very clean, the food was lovely and the staff were amazing. I didn't have many requests but what I did want/need was accommodated by the staff. Breakfast was lovely. You can have anything off the breakfast menus plus all the usual continental breakfast. Just don't have a gut full then walk up the hill. That was a 45 minute mile straight up and it was bad! Haha Saturday I had the large full English, all cooked fresh to order with actual quality ingredients. Sunday we had a bacon and egg cob with hash browns. Incredible. Would we go back? Yes.

I only had 1 issue, its not the fault of the staff or venue, we were in room 10 for 2 nights, Friday was really hot even with the fan and window open. Saturday was a lot better as it rained in the night. I am always hot and it takes a lot to cool down. The reason I mention this because it might be worth requesting a ground floor if you have the same issue as me.

Great location in a quiet village setting. Bar area is modern and well presented. Staff were all great, especially Bobby the GM who dealt with our check in and arrival information in detail and professionally. All members of staff seemed in good spirits. Our rooms were very well appointed, clean, the beds were comfortable and both had good size en-suites. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Drinks reasonably priced. Live entertainment on the Friday night was excellent. This was my wife and I's second visit here and would recommend. My wife's parents were both very impressed and will visit again.

It was a nice change to stay somewhere that we have passed for many years. To mix a nice stay with family visits and walks was great. The breakfasts were cooked to order and excellent. The room was on the small side, but comfortable and spotless. The evening meal was good honest pub grub well presented and good value.

I am not a fan of dogs being fed in the dining area, I felt there should have been a seperate area for those that have to have their dogs with them at mealtime. There is plenty of room for a dog free area.

Very clean and warm in rooms and the main pub. Staff were very excellent. Food was good. Our room was in the annex and whilst it was a little on the small side, it was comfy with Coffee and Tea making facilities. I will say it was a tad hot in the rooms, showing 25d on the thermostat! Our TV didn't work but we had books but then forgot to tell reception about the TV when we left! The pub has views of Roseberry Topping and the walking route to the top starts approximately 100 metres up the road from the pub. Would book again.

Being a bit persnickety, the bedroom was too hot, however the heating went off around 10pm and the broken TV. Oh and please could you offer de-caf Tea please. There were de-caf sachets of coffee but people seem to forget about the tea!

Lovely country pub . Sleeping accommodation in seperate building which is charming and well presented . Excellent breakfast and evening meals tasty . We were in ground floor room and suited us well . Slept well did not here any road noise and i am light sleeper. Close to villages Great Ayton Stokesley Broughton For walkers Rosberrry Topping and many other lovely areas to visit . Lovely outdoor seating areas area for children to play with parent supervision

Lovely old pub and restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful. Our room was room 2. So glad it had air conditioning. Nice place to relax after a few hours hiking up and around Roseberry Topping.

No towels initially provided, however quickly remedy. We decided to have Sunday lunch later. I have to say it was disappointing, food was not hot. Pork and turkey was dry and tough. The veg was good, gravy good with a big Yorkshire pudding. Breakfast was great and staff,lovely.

We were a group of four, on a golf trip, staying at the King’s Head for just one night. All four of us were saying after our stay, how impressed we were with the staff, the accommodation, the food and the value for money. We’re already planning on a return trip, we enjoyed our stay so much.

The King Head is a great position to explore the area. The food was good with the usual pub choice. Lots of walks on your doorstep.

I had 3 night stay and first and 3rd night my fellow lodgers up above in room 12 where quiet as church mouse . The 2nd night they were moving up and down like fairy elephant.A Completely different guest .Fingers crossed if you are in room 4.
