It was a wonderful surprise from the friendly and professional staff to the cleanliness of the room, and as someone who stays in hotels all over Europe I always look for a hotel where the bed is comfortable and this hotel the beds were excellent with firm mattresses. I had heard of the quality of their breakfasts before and was not let down a great way to start the day. I had to leave early on a number of days and there was no problem in the staff accommodating me for breakfast. I think the best way to describe my views on the hotel is I will most definitely sty there again and will suggest it to friends and colleagues when they are in that area.

If there was one thing and this is not a complaint but a comment I had a single room and for me with all I had with me it was a little small.

This is a very comfortable hotel that has been modernised to a high standard. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, the bed very comfortable and the towels soft. The shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was plentiful and we ate in the restaurant one evening and being vegetarian they offered us extra dishes (a risotto) not on the menu - it was superb. Location was good - just a 2-3 minutes to a coastal view and the Landmark theatre and a further 5 minutes to the harbour. However this hotel's best asset is its staff - they are so friendly, obliging and knowledgeable.

We had a very spacious renovated room in the attic with a huge super king size bed and modern clean bathroom - the rooms have loads of mirrors, hanging space with hangars (again surprisingly rare) and a desk. No sticky carpets here. In our experience finding hotels las comfortable as this is difficult to in Devon/Cornwall - especially if you are bringing a dog. The hotel has been fully and consistently renovated throughout. Super clean and fragrant! The owners obviously really care about their hotel and their customers. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Also - the last time I went to Ilfracoome was in 1987. It has improved massively since my last visit: lovely wine bars, a genteel/slightly hipster/civilised type atmosphere - a high street full of independent shops - elegant Victorian architecture - one of the nicest towns on the costal path - definitely worth a visit.

Nothing. We have been walking the South West coastal walk anticlockwise with our dog. This was one of the best if not the best (certainly from value for money perspective) hotel for people with dogs (and without).

Only bad points, incredibly lumpy pillows very cheap toilet paper and inconsiderate guests who can only slam doors with no thought for other hotel guests obviously not the hotels fault. Pillows and toilet paper an easy fix other guests out of hotels control. We were not put off the hotel at all and would happily stay again.

We had my son’s wedding at the tunnels which was literally right next door.so excellent hotel and excellent location.The staff were very friendly and professional. The rooms were large and very light furnishings were top end and very clean.Ensuite was all new and clean. Car parking out front was free and safe place for the car for a few days.All in all an excellent place to stay with a fantastic Full English breakfast to start the day off. Top marks.

Everything was fab no complaints at all

The hotel was easy to find, value for money, exceptionally clean. The bed was very comfortable, my room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the road and was quiet. A nice choice of breakfast food. Has a lift which is handy of you have mobility difficulties. Very friendly staff. It was a nice bonus having a bottle of water on day off arrival (in the fridge) and a bottle of water the next day. A very nice two day stay.

There is limited parking at the hotel, when full the residential roads are suggested, however when I arrived the hotel was full and no spaces in the roads near to the hotel. I had to park 15 minutes away which was tricky for me with suitcase, hold-all and handbag. I have respiratory issues making the walk to the hotel tricky. Maybe letting people who have similar health issues/disabilities know by writing on the hotel description.

I arrived an hour or so before check in time, so cheekily asked if I could check in early. Not only did they let me check in early, but they upgraded my room from a single to a double! My room was clean with all the mod cons, and more importantly the bed was comfy. Breakfast was lovely. Being a vegetarian I was pleased to see there was plenty for me to choose from. Parking wasn’t an issue. If you couldn’t get parked in the hotel car park, there was free on street parking in front of and behind the hotel. Just a short walk to local amenities, cafes, amusements and restaurants. I bought myself a coffee from a lovely little cafe along the front and sat on Ilfracombe Beach watching the waves. It was tranquil and beautiful!

The only downside was that there were building works taking place opposite that were a bit noisy and started pretty early in the morning, but I do appreciate the hotel had no control over this. However this was the only negative! Would come back again.

The welcome on arrival was great and Michael always seemed on hand to help. I'd been in touch earlier in the week and the gentleman was very helpful and able to accommodate our (changed) needs. The choice of breakfasts was very wide and we tasted a variety, all of which were excellent and perfect poached eggs - great chef!

The showers were really good, although you could hear the humming from other rooms when someone had theirs but it didn't last long. We hit some good weather so the room was quite warm at night, you could open the windows but if you don't want to hear early morning seagulls, shut it and use the fan provided as standard in each room.

The kinder people we have met in the UK, and regarding their overall kindness, this is a real compliment !!! Friendly people from the reception to the restaurant, as well as other customers, all really polite and quiet. They booked us a restaurant, gave us advices for wine and for visits, and were also really kind and patient with every customer (including families with small children, or elderly and/or disabled person) Everything was clean and neat, the gym is small but very well equipped.

The loud seagull in the early morning... and the Wi-Fi that could be a bit quicker.

I was a little apprehensive about booking this location at first, I saw the picture and skipped by. We went back and decided we would give a try. So glad we did! What an awesome experience. We arrived and was greeted by Michael (I believe he was one of the owners, not sure). We stayed for 3 nights and Michael was one of the most responsive people I have ever come across while staying at a hotel. He and the other staff went out of their way to make sure everything was okay. They made us feel like we had all of their attention. Can not praise them enough! The hotel rooms were spotless and seemed brand new. The food was excellent, service excellent and it was in a great location; what else can you ask for. Highly recommend this hotel!
