The views from the balcony are lovely and having the balcony makes it feel more like a proper holiday! The bed was so comfy and the bathroom was very clean and of a good size. Lots of nice walks around the area and although the hotel is not within walking distance ( unless you want to climb back up the hills) it’s not to bad as it’s very quiet at night.
The location is quite a challenge for some cars it’s very hilly. Sowerby bridge has less to offer than Hebden bridge about 10-15mins away, we couldn’t find anywhere to sit in and eat other than one Indian restaurant and a Wetherspoons everywhere else was a takeaway.

Lovely clean accommodation. Very well equipped with good WiFi access. Tea/coffee making facilities are available in the room. There is a fridge with bottles of water included (free of charge.) Porridge pots and croissants are also provided in the price for breakfast on your overnight stay.
The property is at the top of a very steep hill. You definitely need to have transportation to leave or return to the property. It is also a very rural area so make sure you have food and drinks with you as nothing is within a short distance to be able to get them once you are there. (It is a shame that the bar and restaurant area at the property is not available tp guests unless hiring it out for a function or event. )

Great location at the top of a hill (try and drive in from the top, down to it is fine, up to it is……interesting). Booked a balcony room and very glad we did, sitting outside watching sun go down was great. Rooms spotlessly clean, porridge and pain au chocolat as described on others reviews - they are never going to be able to stop that! Toiletries, ironing board, hairdryer, fridge, tv - all channels there once you realised that 101 was bbc1 etc Enough coffee and tea. Don’t worry about lack of on-site staff - process is seamless and person is at the end of a phone if you need anything. We called with a query and got an immediate answer.
Glad it wasn’t me driving - I’d still be at the bottom of the hill. Driving from opposite direction works well.

The rooms are very well kept and clean. The facilities are great. In each room there are plenty of items including tea, coffee, etc, pain au chocolate and porridge pots. Water is provided, bottled and in the fridge. The property overlooks Halifax from a height, providing beautiful views both day and night. The staff are very responsive and supportive, they are there for guests in any way they can be. There is also a detailed welcome booklet supplied with information about the local area, places to eat, things to do etc.
The only issue I can possibly think of is that the location is up hills, with narrow, steep roads leading to it. This is a very minor issue and only caused me any problems because my car is old and struggled a lot to get up some of the roads around the property. I can also be anxious driving on these types of roads but that is a personal issue. Please don't let any of that put you off because the views from the property are more than worth it! It does mean that without a car it is difficult to get to and from the town centre but again, very small issue.

The peaceful location , the outstanding views, the balcony, the modern bathroom and shower . Added bonus of a pot of porridge and pain au chocolate provided every day
Difficult to be negative as it’s great value for money and one of the best accommodations in the area but they say feedback with the correct intention is valuable . Although rooms are clean and modern paintwork and furnishings are starting to look tired. Room was clean on arrival and serviced throughout 4 night stay but the bedding was not changed or the carpets hoovered. Welcoming note on could be considered cold and proscriptive . Don’t let these minor details put you off this is a great accommodation

Myself and extended members of the family booked to stay here for a wedding nearby. I originally booked a single night for the family, but once I realised timings of the event, I needed to book an extra night. I reached out to find out the best way to do this, and was advised to book via the website and the bookings would be linked, which they were. At all times, hotel staff were very responsive. The rooms were all a great size. All include an iron, ironing board, fan and fridge (regardless of room or floor). Towels are included. The towel radiators are heated - you need to turn the plain silver thermostat on the radiator base. It was only on the second night I worked out how to do this, should you be environmentally conscious and happy to keep your towels for an extra night. There is a picnic area next to the free car park. As we had a electric car, we could run a single induction hob off the car to make breakfast for the family. Otherwise, Tesco and cafes are not far away (Tesco also has chargers for EV vehicles and offers free parking for three hours). The rooms were tidied and towels changed over daily, the view was gorgeous and you could hear a pin drop at night, it was so quiet. The little one in our group delighted in taking family members to see the cows and horses. The balcony rooms especially lovely as these face the view. Details for self check in were provided over lunchtime and a phone call to advise the rooms were ready which I thought was a lovely personal touch. It was also handy as family members were arriving at different times. Once you have the PIN, you can check in whenever you wish in the evening. The 10pm latest check in is more of a reference for the hotel being on hand to answer questions. There are no members of staff on site. It is worth knowing that the location is up the hill and one of the routes up is quite narrow with passing laybys and stone walls.
Our collective view is that the mattresses were very soft and so none of us (across the two nights) slept particularly well. There was a bit of rolling into the middle that kept happening.

Excellent communication from staff throughout. The room was clean and tidy. Car parking available.
We had been allocated a room for disabled people without our prior knowledge. The height of the sink, etc was difficult for us as non-wheelchair users with back issues, but we managed. Lacked privacy - had to draw curtains as window was straight onto car park, and no blinds. However, other rooms at the property appeared not to have this problem. We were just unlucky with ours. It was necessary to drive up some very steep, narrow roads to reach the property. As we did not feel confident to do this in the dark, we opted to take a taxi to and from our evening destination rather than navigate unfamiliar and difficult roads.

What a little gem! Completely guided by email and had a lovely stay. A former Inn, the quality of the room was exceptional. Spotless and furnished with quality. The bathroom was so much nicer than expected with both rainfall and standard showerheads as well as complimentary toiletries. So many quality elements made it feel so much more than the basic facilities we had expected. The shared outdoor picnic area afforded a stunning view over the Dales as well as a beautiful sunset. Lots of clear information available, as well as a contact detail in the unlikely event something went wrong 24/7. Superbe!
The location is a little outside the village and the only improvement I can suggest is to put a sign up on the access road to help weary travellers make their way to this very special, unique location. Alternatively Google Maps gets you there too 😃

room was a little hot even though heating was off and balcony door open, only small criticism but would rather be too hot than cold and just a personal preference that's all

Beautiful views. Lots of parking. Very comfortable room. Good extras like some food and some chilled waters. Mini fridge actually cooled things down unlike many others. The bed was comfortable. I liked being able to self check-in. Uber only £7 over to the other side of Halifax. Close to a Tesco Superstore. Had a very comfortable stay. It was very easy to contact staff and they were extremely helpful and friendly.
There was an issue with the seat in the accessible shower which is being fixed but I received a full refund for this which is amazing. I was also offered a night for free in the future which I'd definitely accept. If there hadn't been this issue, I would have given a rating of 10 instead of 9.
