Pub on the side of the road next to a green space. Plenty of parking. Although there was a wedding, the room was well away from the noise. Staff friendly and helpful. Bed a bit soft but comfy enough. Lovely bathroom. Good selection of drinks and biscuits with the kettle. Nice breakfast served to your table. Easy to drive in to Halifax for the gig (20mins). Fairly quiet at night.

No arm chair in the room, despite space for at least one, so had to sit on the bed. Music from the bar/restaurant pumps through the floor - not very loud but enough to irritate me!

The room was very clean, tidy and comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. The dinner I had in the evening was really nice and just what I needed after travelling all day. Location is good with a park next to the hotel and easy access to the countryside. Overall a good stay and comfortable nights sleep.

Nothing in particular, unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open in the morning when I went down for breakfast despite me requesting it for 7.30. However I spoke to Vicky who was very helpful and apologetic and refunded me the cost of breakfast. If the evening meal is anything to go by I would expect the breakfast to have been lovely and a good start to the day. I wouldn't let this small issue stop me from staying again when I'm next in the area as I am sure it was just a blip in the otherwise positive experience.

I was visiting a company nearby so location for this visit was great. Theres not much to do in this small village so if your using this as a base to travel around you will need to be prepared for being slightly isolated. Its a nice place and there another small pub closely that I visited and that was friendly and they provided food. But the quality of meals at 1885 was very good. Freee WIFI was strong, car parking at side and rear. Playing filed also at the rear. Good seating area at the side for when weather is nice. Staff were very good and friendly.

No complaints it was quite expensive just small amount of main meal was £22. But quality was very good.

The room was ready early, plenty of parking, staff really helpful and organised a taxi for us to get to the venue. We have said at the property before and it was just as good. Breakfast was first rate, they told us the day before that they had a wedding at the venue and we would be eating in the main pub instead of the restaurant area but it was just as nice. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Really comfy, bright and clean room with everything we needed for a short stay. The owner and staff were all friendly and welcoming, providing a great level of customer service. We ate in the pub downstairs and everyone's food was delicious. As was the breakfast, served both days by a lovely lady who couldn't do enough for us. We were just looking for a basic room for a couple of nights while we attended a family wedding but this place exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return,even if it's just for Sunday lunch!

Property is within 15 mins of the Piece Hall in Halifax, so perfect if you’re looking to go to a gig and then stay the night. Room was clean and relaxing, comfy bed, spacious bathroom. No time constraints for the night, so you can come and go as you please. Lots of free parking, delicious breakfast, staff were courteous, kind, attentive and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely peaceful location. Room was spotless, bed comfy. Large bathroom. Hairdryer, towels and tea tray provided Ate in the restaurant after first having a few drinks in the outside area. Food was really nice. Each had a main course, bottle wine and cheese board which came to £70 Breakfast was made with quality ingredients (full english), good coffee too. Would return and definitely recommend!

1885 exceeded my expectations. I booked it as I was going to a gig at the piece hall in Halifax. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable. The staff really friendly and we had a meal in the pub that was very nice. Breakfast was excellent with really good sausages and homemade black pudding making up part of the full English. Had a lovely chat with one of the owners, Nathan, who clearly has a lot of passion and effort in his business. Will definitely book again if I come back to the area.

Such a lovely town and pub hotel - the room was quite nice though small, and the place was quiet and lovely, next to a church and playground, quite nice scenery driving off the motor way to the place. I really enjoy the breakfast - the chef must really like his job and the kitchen looks fantastic!

The the bath mat could have been better than it was - I saw stains on it.

More than world class hospitality, it was like family. We arrived very early in the morning after an overnight flight and were greeted with a warm smile and a key to our room which had been upgraded. That was quickly followed up with a lovely breakfast and beer. The grounds and view was so beautiful. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. We slept with the window open and there was zero noise from the street... so peaceful. I will absolutely stay here for future visits to this area.
