The room was very clean, tidy and comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. The dinner I had in the evening was really nice and just what I needed after travelling all day. Location is good with a park next to the hotel and easy access to the countryside. Overall a good stay and comfortable nights sleep.

Nothing in particular, unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open in the morning when I went down for breakfast despite me requesting it for 7.30. However I spoke to Vicky who was very helpful and apologetic and refunded me the cost of breakfast. If the evening meal is anything to go by I would expect the breakfast to have been lovely and a good start to the day. I wouldn't let this small issue stop me from staying again when I'm next in the area as I am sure it was just a blip in the otherwise positive experience.

I was visiting a company nearby so location for this visit was great. Theres not much to do in this small village so if your using this as a base to travel around you will need to be prepared for being slightly isolated. Its a nice place and there another small pub closely that I visited and that was friendly and they provided food. But the quality of meals at 1885 was very good. Freee WIFI was strong, car parking at side and rear. Playing filed also at the rear. Good seating area at the side for when weather is nice. Staff were very good and friendly.

No complaints it was quite expensive just small amount of main meal was £22. But quality was very good.

Really comfy, bright and clean room with everything we needed for a short stay. The owner and staff were all friendly and welcoming, providing a great level of customer service. We ate in the pub downstairs and everyone's food was delicious. As was the breakfast, served both days by a lovely lady who couldn't do enough for us. We were just looking for a basic room for a couple of nights while we attended a family wedding but this place exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return,even if it's just for Sunday lunch!

Lovely peaceful location. Room was spotless, bed comfy. Large bathroom. Hairdryer, towels and tea tray provided Ate in the restaurant after first having a few drinks in the outside area. Food was really nice. Each had a main course, bottle wine and cheese board which came to £70 Breakfast was made with quality ingredients (full english), good coffee too. Would return and definitely recommend!

1885 exceeded my expectations. I booked it as I was going to a gig at the piece hall in Halifax. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable. The staff really friendly and we had a meal in the pub that was very nice. Breakfast was excellent with really good sausages and homemade black pudding making up part of the full English. Had a lovely chat with one of the owners, Nathan, who clearly has a lot of passion and effort in his business. Will definitely book again if I come back to the area.

More than world class hospitality, it was like family. We arrived very early in the morning after an overnight flight and were greeted with a warm smile and a key to our room which had been upgraded. That was quickly followed up with a lovely breakfast and beer. The grounds and view was so beautiful. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. We slept with the window open and there was zero noise from the street... so peaceful. I will absolutely stay here for future visits to this area.

Took my sister to a concert in The Piece Hall and stayed here for the night. It was amazing! We were instantly made to feel comfortable when we walked in, such lovely and genuine staff!! I’m usually quite anxious but I felt so at ease here. Room was immaculate and breakfast was delicious with friendly service again. Wish more places were like this, I’ve already recommended it to family & would love to come back again. Thank you all!

Nothing to fault! My only worry prior to coming was about how accessible it was for non-drivers, but taxis/ubers and buses were constant and easily available! Staff were very helpful about this before our stay when I enquired also.

The room was better than any old Premier Inn or Holiday Inn, such a home-y feel. I wish we stayed longer and tried the foot in the pub as the breakfast was wonderful, included with your room and freshly made from a menu! I had Eggs Royale and my brother had the Full English, both devine with unlimited coffee and juice! Staff was friendly also.

I didn't like that the bathroom light was automatic to be honest! I like to stay half asleep when I go to the loo in the middle of the night haha. But that's really scraping the barrel, this place was great.

We stayed here for one night to catch up with friends. The room was large clean and very comfortable. It was upstairs which were steep. We had dinner in the restaurant and could not fault our food in any way. One guest had steak which just melted in your mouth, two others had the 21 hour cooked lamb, and the other one had fish and chips. Service was quick and always with a smile.

Breakfast was a little bit chaotic, they appeared to be short staffed at the beginning but other staff did arrive. Although tasty some of the breakfast was overcooked. They had a collection of beautiful stoneware which unfortunately was not fit for purpose. The teapot overflowed when you used it and the cups rattled around on the saucers. These items would be better off on display and a more functional set used for guests

Comfortable room, great breakfast and the friendly chef offered us a lift to collect our car from a nearby location.

Checked in at 8:30pm after a long journey. Pub stopped serving food at 8:30pm there was no flexibility in this from the bar staff leaving us without anywhere to eat that evening. There was also a sign in the room stating that food could not be consumed in there….
