Jacqui the manager is fantastic. Nothing too much trouble. Minutes from the Piece Hall and shops. Parking is available to the rear but if full then there are plenty of cheap options very close by. Bed was super comfy and the room was clean. Free WiFi and a good choice of drinks at the bar. I would stay again.

None of these are criticisms of my stay. I'm just being accurate. It is a really old building so the soundproofing between rooms isn't the best. I was there for a sold-out gig at the Piece Hall on a Friday night. Some of the occupants were ridiculously loud and I heard them falling over more than once in the early hours. Again, absolutely no fault of the hotel but my autistic son would struggle with the noise and I do like to pass this info on.

Location was great and within walking distance to the centre - ideal for New Years Eve, particularly given the rain. The host was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Access was easy and 24hrs.

The shower temperature changed a bit, presumably due to demand by others, but this wasn't a major issue. The main issue we encountered was that there was no separate lounging or gathering area that could be accessed when the pub wasn't open. As a group of friends who aren't in their university years anymore, none of us wants to gather in someone's bedroom - there also wasn't sufficient seating or room to attempt this. The place works best as a room-only expectation - and most of the time we were sleeping or out so it worked, but I'd hesitate to stay here for a longer or bigger gathering in the area.

Excellent location very close to bus station and in walking distance of train station, the Minster, Piece Hall, museums and the town centre. It's a quirky old building with a real rabbit warren of corridors leading to the rooms. Despite my room being very basic it was clean and comfortable and I slept very well.

Not many en suite rooms and not many shared bathrooms for the total number of rooms, but the wash basin in my room was adequate for a one night stay. A beside table and light would have been useful. With a bit of hard work and investment this place could be a little goldmine. (Some real ale in the bar would have encouraged me to drink there).

Just what we wanted, the location was fantastic, and the bar was very reasonably priced, just a base while going to an event at the piece hall. Really clean the bed was so comfortable, the staff were lovely so welcoming and gave all the information needed. We stayed in 12a, and the room was very spacious. We would definitely stay again.

Not really a negative as it was an easy fix the parking wasn't great, but iv got to say I nipped in to ask, and the manager was so helpful with info on where to park in the carpark untill a space was available and as soon as the business next door shut there was more than enough room and they called us to say we could move the car if we wanted or stay put as we was only blocking another guest at the event also. There's also a multistory over the road if you don't mind paying.

It was perfect for me, it was 4 minutes away from The Piece Hall. You can also walk everywhere from here. The check-in was fast, I got a lovely room in the attic. The bathroom was just next to my room and was really clean, with free shower gel and shampoo. In the room, there was a TV, a kettle and a sink. You can have a free coffee or tea with milk. The bed was comfortable, and the temperature of the room was perfect. WiFi worked well. Towels included too. There were many outlets, which was great to charge different devices at the same time! Quiet at night, when the pub closes.

I went to the toilet in the middle of the night, and when I went back to my room, the lock didn't work, so I had to sleep with the door unlocked. That's one of the cons of no having 24h reception. Although I felt safe there, I didn't like to have my room open while I was asleep.

Jackie was lovely made us very welcome on arrival. We went for a concert which was literally 5 minutes walk. Lovely shopping centre. We had to research its history when I got home as I seen and felt a ghost touch me while staying the night not sure if anyone else has seen anything while stopping here but we sure did! Awsome unexpected experience but will deffo stay again.

Parking wasn't the best but we managed to get parked a little better in the evening

Value for money incredible! Location spot on! Like the land lady said “it is what it is a pub with rooms at a great price” Land Lady and her family were legends! Very friendly and down to earth - looked after me well and showed me where and where not to go My room was basic but it’s all i need a comfy bed to get my head down after a very long day out on the mountain bike, of which they allowed me to lockup in their safe place, car parking great too right behind pub Easy access in/out of halifax eg bud to keighley etc train to hebden bridge etc Highlights of the stay were £4/pint of guinness at the post office itself, Jackie the manager herself, great fun and friendly, The Raikway pub for a “white rat” and chat with the owners, and this Irish bar for watching rugby and a bit of craic great stay overall

Great to have plenty of tea & coffee & milk in the room . Perfect location for Piece Hall concert & shops , & the Minster .all on the doorstep . Great atmosphere in pub for after concert drinks . Owner very friendly & allowed us to stay on the car park the next day for our sightseeing .

No mirror in the room making it difficult to do make up & use hair straighteners /fix hair properly. Only bathroom mirror which is a bit distorted view & can’t use electric items near it . Could use plenty of hooks in bathroom for clothes & towels .

On arrival Jackie the manager welcome's you immediately and shows you the room after a pint and a good chat.highly recommend this place.

Nothing to dislike but a little suggestion is in the summer months would be perfect but in the winter months with no central heating really could do with a form of heating, but waking up in the morning listening to the very close church bells just makes a wonderful experience, that you won't get every day.

Visited as a new city for our Jolly Boys Christmas outing and The Old Post Office was perfect for us. Clean, Comfortable and ideal location for the Town Centre. Owners very helpful. Whilst the Car Park was full we got to park opposite without any charges, plus official Car Park over the road if needed. Helped us with an earlier check-in than normal.

Nothing really, other than the Bar wasn’t open on arrival.
