This older style hotel is conveniently situated for the sea front and local shops and restaurants. The staff are lovely. The hotel seems to be 'cyclist friendly' Our room and the public areas were spotlessly clean. WiFi was fast and consistent. Breakfast was pretty good The room had real opening windows - none of this new fangled air conditioning nonsense.
It may be a 19th century hotel, but there's no excuse for 19th century mattresses & pillows! To say that the bathroom was bijou might overstating how small it was. There is constant road noise from the busy road outside (and the gardens opposite are used for public events occasionally). No amount of double glazing would dampen this noise. It's an old hotel and no matter how charming that may be, it can't disguise the fact it needs a lot of investment.

I loved the old fashioned feel of the whole hotel, the fact there was a trousers press in my room! The staircases, the decor and antiques. It felt so alive with history. The room was decent, good size and comfortable for one night. The windows were very thin and not sound proof in any way. Same for the walls between rooms. However, a pair of earplugs and I slept all night. Bathroom was good size, very old shower. Breakfast was good, not great portions for the price but it tasted good and the service was lovely.
Hearing the road outside my window The long walk down the corridor to my room (though this can't be helped) Portion sizes for breakfast

Good breakfast. Good proportions available. All cooked to my liking. Provided the gf toast i needed and also had proper meat gf sausages! Service was prompt too. I could tell that when busy the staff on duty would help out where required. Lots of modern hotels have slow lifts and slow inflexible staff. Location was perfect for me. Georgian building beaufiful. The decor matched the traditional nature of the hotel but that is exactly what i wanted. Staff were happy to answer questions not just give the corporate line. Easy wifi.
Carpet in my room was beyond its sell by date. I would have liked something in room rather than just QR code info. Decaff coffee absent. A gf biscuit would have been a bonus.

The staff were very helpful, the breakfast was excellent. The room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the park. Excellent view. The bathroom was clean and functional but rather small. However the room was excellent with desk, wardrobe space, luggage space and the bed very comfortable. Above all everywhere was very clean. The location for this visit could not have been better near the beach, the pier, and very importantly the bus services along the south coast between Brighton and Portsmouth.
Bathroom was clean but the only criticism, and clearly constrained by the date of the building, it was a little bit small.

This is a quirky, older property. Staff were great, food was excellent, served on hot plates so food kept hot while eating. Asked for items were provided quickly. I asked each morning for my bottle to be filled with ice water and it was, great service.
I find with most hotels now although the bathroom is clean it does not look it. They are not allowed to use bleach so things don't always look clean. The whole hotel needs a bit of a tidy up and I was disappointed that the library and games room had not been re opened since COVID.

We have stayed numerous times at this hotel. Very reasonably price and in an ideal location close to the beachfront and local pubs, restaurants and shopping area. It is now best to park in one of the multi storey car parks if arriving by car as the hotel doesn't offer discounted vouchers for the roadside parking outside the hotel
If you have a car, the hotel doesn't provide the parking voucher scheme anymore. If you want to park in the local multi storey car park, you can get a discount for staying at this hotel but the online booking system is rather convoluted.

The shower could be better, and one of the curtains was half off its rail, but apparently from that, we very much enjoyed our stay. The staff were fantastic, the location couldn't be better, very comfortable, bottomless cups of tea and / or coffee in your room or downstairs in a lovely comfortable lounge. It's all at a very good price. Thank you so much. Also, I've just booked Chatsworth through booking.com for the first weekend of July.
The shower flow wasn't good, and mixing the hot and cold was a bit tricky. Also, a small bar of soap for the bath would be appreciated. Thanks.

A fantastic building, with loads of character. It's across the road from Worthing seafront and very close to the shops, cafes, and restaurants. It doesn't do evening meals but as you're so near to the town centre, you can find something lovely to eat close by. Breakfast options are limited, but include a full English breakfast, cereal, and fruit. The room was spacious, with a kettle, tea, coffee, a hairdryer, TV, and a trouser press. It has a bath and shower and the towels were big. There are lifts to all floors. There is no hotel parking but plenty of street parking, which you have to pay for before 6pm. Great value for money.

Staff on reception and in restaurant friendly and welcoming. Service staff polite and helpful. Good breakfast selection. Great location.
The hotel has charm, but is old. The floors on the 3rd floor slope, and therefore so do the beds. Thought a couple of times during the night that I was sliding out of bed! The bathrooms - certainly in Room 342 - need an update. Shower is difficult to use and unreliable (power shower is broken and not in use). Toilet is badly stained and beyond just cleaning - needs replacing.

The hotel is well located for the beach and promenade, and for Worthing's restaurants and pubs. It's a manageable walk from the station - 15-20 minutes. The hotel exterior is grand, overlooking the Old Steyne gardens. The reception is clean and smart, if a little tired-looking. The room was clean and comfortable, with a rear view across the bus garage to the pier. Tea and coffee making facilities were welcome. The bathroom was fine; the shower was hot and worked well enough. The staff were all friendly and very helpful.
