Lovely characterful hotel and a great location. We stayed for 3 nights pre cruise in a junior suite in Birch House, a few minutes walk from the main hotel. Lovely big room with lots of space, but it was cold (switched air con to heat but it didn’t make any difference). We were unlucky that the weather was poor which may have impacted on the room temperature. Post cruise we booked a room in the main hotel. Though it was a small room, we much preferred it to staying at Birch House. Great location, overlooking waterway, few minutes to beach. We had 2 very nice meals in the restaurant sitting on the deck overlooking the water. Breakfast was ok but limited and expensive. We mostly ate at Cafe Casablanca, a few minutes walk.

Room in Birch House was cold and unheated. Meals are expensive. No kettle in bedrooms, only a coffee machine, so couldn’t make an early morning cup of tea.

Really nice hotel, exceed our expectations. Great location, close to the beach, and main attractions but very private and quiet. The restaurant is a must try, great food with a beautiful view of the canal and sunset. Excellent service and staff. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. If you can, stay at the in Intracoastal suite! I would definitely go back.

The hotel has two properties so careful when booking through booking.com as it is not clear on the site that you may be off property. We booked two rooms and one of them was at the other house, just a block and half away. It was not a big deal for us, but I should have looked at the hotel website before booking through booking.com The junior suites are only available on the off property house. The location of this property on the water front is stunning. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant which we dined in several times and would highly recommend. Dislikes; The air conditioning in our room was very loud. Also, on our previous visits the sun beds had cushions on them, these have since been removed due to weather damage, making the beds very uncomfortable. For a SLH hotel I would have expected these to be replaced. Lots of building works happening in area but hopefully it won’t be long before these works are completed.

Booked this last minute as we had to evacuate our home for hurricane Milton. It was the perfect safe sanctuary for us. Staff were so lovely. We were in the Annexe part, 3 minutes walk from the main hotel, in a gorgeously large suite. Lovely and quiet. Bed and pillows really comfy. Molton Brown products. Little pool to enjoy. Spectacularly clean. Free drink at the bar was a nice touch too. Location to beach was spot on. Free parking, no resort fees was a bonus. Thank you for making our stay a special one, given the stressful situation.

Yes the air con is a bit noisy but glad we had it. Yes it's quite expensive to stay here but overall we were satisfied due to the high standards we encountered.

Small hotel, excellent service and located 200 yds off the main coast road, particularly helpful during spring break, which can be noisy and busy. Private gardens and pool at rear, located on intercoastal, with superb dining facilities by waters edge, which provides wonderful setting. Food excellent

Food and drinks are rather expensive, and the room rate is too, but if that’s the price you have to pay for for an excellent experience, then so be it

Location was great, near the beach and backing onto the waterways. Very intimate boutique hotel, Very comfy bed with lovely linen. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely pool area and an area to dine near the waterway if you are inclined.

Didn’t quite like that they spread all the dining facilities into the Lounge on the Monday evening so we couldn’t use the lounge area initially, but they did make space for us later. There was some building noise from nearby construction, but that isn’t the hotel’s fault, and it didn’t spoil our trip at all.

I really appreciated the friendliness of the staff who worked there. They were incredibly helpful. I also really enjoyed the food. In particular the option to have your room service set up on the table outside your room. The sun loungers were very comfortable with elasticated towels. There is also lemon water available throughout the day to stay hydrated. Lots of little touches which is why I enjoy staying at a smaller hotel.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. I have stayed at the Pillars twice now and enjoyed it on both occasions. I would stay there again.

It was our fifth stay at the property - we love the location and the relaxing atmosphere at the hotel. The secret garden restaurant is also excellent with great choices and excellent dishes.

We noticed a few of the pool sunbed towelling covers had rips in them and often there were not fresh covers nor towels available, although if we asked they were soon supplied. The festoon lighting on the pool deck is a welcome addition and adds to the atmosphere, but blown bulbs need to be replaced otherwise it looks a little shoddy.

We loved the entire property. The room was truly elegant, and we especially enjoyed the pool area and the patio that overlooked the inland waterway. We also had the privilege of meeting the owner during check-in and hearing about the history and the renovations made to restore the property to its former glamour.

A lovely restored home made into a sophisticated small hotel that offered quiet tranquility. The pool is a perfect restored one offering peaceful respite. The view of the pool and the Intracoastal were marvelous. The foliage allowed many varieties of birds to thrive much to our pleasure!

It was much closer to the larger hotels and city life than we realized which did create more noise at certain times. The parking area was decent but rather limited - thankfully we were able to find a space each time we needed one. We appreciated that there was no charge to park.
