From one point everything was where it should have been, which is a plus but on the other hand the cottage was so small that we almost felt cramped. We kinda new how those cottages look like and feel like, but you just can't get a good view how is it actually by looking at the pictures. We just hoped that the kitchen annex would be a bit bigger, that there will be some space for things to put, to dry clothes. But everything was there, including an electric stove and it was kept clean and also there were beach towels you could use free of charge.
We did not met Ron. The walls were so thin, you could hear everything around and because of that you don't have much privacy. Kauai is expensive, no argue in that. But we do feel that for the price we paid, there could be a bit more the motel could offer.

Love the feel of this little hotel. Plus none of the exorbitant resort fees. Super clean. We had a room with no AC which was just fine. Loved the garden area and balcony overlooking it - plus chairs available to sit outside. Appreciated morning coffee. It has an incredible mini-museum display of artifacts and gorgeous replicas. You need to stay here just to see if you can arrange one of Ron's talks on the artifacts and island history. Fascinating presentation on the history, stories, landmarks and weaponry. Thank you so much for that Ron. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
Nothing.

For an older property, both the room and the outside area were kept very clean. We had a stove and the oven was much cleaner than mine! All the staff were kind and friendly. Rini is a real gem as she seemed to know what we needed and offered before we ask. She was very helpful. We liked the idea of a small local place and its location is ideal no matter what direction you go.
Parking can be difficult if all rooms are rented. A few more hangers in the closet would be helpful. Also a hanger on bathroom door.

Everything was great, not sure why not all reviews are good, but we had an amazing experience! The hotel itself represented Hawaii for us, it is so authentic and surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. The staff was great, the lady at the reception helped us a lot (thank you again!) with our special request of keeping a cake into the fridge after we checked out and she was so friendly and kind. We had also AC in the room which helped a lot with the heat and parking lot with easy access. The hotel gives also free coffee in the morning but unfortunately we didn’t have time to join 🥲
Nothing to mention

The lady at the front desk, Rini, made us feel right at home! The moment we arrived we immediately knew we were in for a treat. The room was very nice and clean, with working airconditioning and a spacious bathroom. We had some nice conversations with Rini and she let us stay longer at the lounge on our request. This was a very nice stay and we can definitely recommend it.

Very easy check in, nice location close to a beach and some coffee/ breakfast shops, pretty comfy bed. Had a good night's sleep here.
The lighting in the room is so harsh and hurts my eyes. Some mood lighting/warm colored lighting that you can adjust up or down goes a long, long way. It would be cool if they gave us a heads up that the water in the lobby was drinkable. We showed up after a long flight, so thirsty with no car and grocery stores were a long walk away. All we needed was someone to tell us where we could get some fresh water to drink.

During my delightful 10-day stay at KPH, I had the pleasure of encountering an exceptional team that truly enhanced my experience. A visit to Hawaii is always fantastic, and it's the people who make the place special. Gratitude is extended to Lei, the Housekeeper Manager, and Ron, the General Manager of the hotel, along with all the staff members who exuded the Aloha spirit throughout my stay. My accommodation, Room #24, featured a clean room with a convenient mini kitchenette, allowing me to store and reheat food as needed. Although daily coffee was provided, I preferred getting it from the lobby, relishing the pleasant company of the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Special mention goes to the charming chickens and the affectionate orange cat, Mango, who added to the unique charm. What truly stands out in my memory is the genuine connection formed with the hotel's extraordinary people. A heartfelt appreciation goes to Lei, Ron, and their dedicated team for exemplifying professionalism and courtesy, going above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and thoroughly enjoy their stay. Ron's captivating lesson on ancient Hawaiian history was particularly enlightening and instrumental in planning my days. Lei, your kindness is truly commendable, and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Consider yourself a valued friend, and I look forward to returning to the hotel soon. Mahalo, and may the positive vibes continue!

The hotel is a nice historical building right in the center of Lihue. With shops and restaurants nearby. My room was a queen bed with kitchenette and comfy for one, though probably cramped for two.
The employees were rather short when answering and not very friendly. My room was cleaned only twice during my eight night stay and both times I got a letter that my bed could not be made up because personal belongings were on it. That was my pyjama. When I asked what I was supposed to do with my pyjama I was told that I should put it in my suitcase every morning and take it out at night. Now that is weird.

The building is definitely a bit dated, but the rooms are clean, there is air conditioning that works well, and they provided clean towels on the second day which was nice. Great location close to restaurants and stores. It was pretty quite as well. Easy parking.
One of the lights didn't work in the kitchen, so it would have been nice if that was noticed and fixed beforehand, otherwise the air-conditioning units can be a bit loud when you turn them on, but overall decent value.

The location is central to everything we needed, the staff was the friendliest we had experienced anywhere in our travels. The A/C kept the room very comfortable and the view of the mountain was nice to sit outside and have morning coffee. The room was extremely clean and the hot water and water pressure in the shower was great. I would stay here again
It was not a big deal but as it is an older property, there wasn’t many outlets for charging cell phones or other electronics.
