The complimentary breakfast offers a full selection of tasty items. The coffee is strong and flavorful. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Items, such ice are brought to you promptly. The room was large, comfortable and well appointed. We like the dragonfly accent pillows so much that we ordered three from a website(not afilliated with Houmas House). The adjoining museum has many cool historic items and is very well curated. The location is ideal for exploring the other plantations in the Darrow area. The gardens and grounds are beautiful.

It was hard to keep bugs out of the cottage, but they are everywhere in the south so I can't fault the Houmas House or its staff.

If you’re an American - this was a wonderful place to visit. I know TripAdvisor tends to be more European but this was an amazing place to visit if you live here in America. If you are thinking about going, go! You will have an amazing stay. We can’t wait not wait to return and your dog is very welcome

The cottages are nicely decorated and Next to Houma house, beautiful gardens, it’s is great to be able to walk around the house (outside) and the garden at night.

The cottages are located right next to a busy road. The traffic did die down at night but the trucks that went past woke us up starting at 530am. There is also a railway line in the the other side of the cottages at 100 m distance and the train was sounding the horn regularly. Also, I could understand every word said during a phone conversation in the neighboring room due to poor sounds insulation between the room. It was the opposite of peaceful, and I would not have chosen to stay in the cottages especially at the price they ask if I would have known about the noise level in the cottages.

Everything I love the feeling when I'm there it's such a cleansing to my soul and to be at houmas house and gardens is such a wonderful experience you will never forget I love it always ❤️ and it will always be a part of my life. You don't know how it feels till you have been there I promise you will always cherish every moment there. Thank you Mr. Kevin you are a blessing to this plantation and gardens you brought it to life . And saved mine because when I first went to houmas house I was in a state of mind 🙃 it felt my world was upside down til I went to houmas house it gave me a feeling of beauty and saw its beauty at first site and gave me a place to look forward to that I once didn't know existed until one day i was on my way on a road I didn't even know where it led then there it was.

Nothing I had to force my self to go to bed because I wanted to stay in gardens lol.

The Estate is a great place to stay: the gardens are fantastic and almost better at night. Breakfast excellent and the food in the resturant is great and good value. Cottages are well appointed. Bridge provides easy access to river.

Our cottage fronted the road and the outlook wasn't brilliant. There was also a lot of traffic noise between 6am and 7am. Cottage layout was slightly strange in that the bedroom was rather small, but the bathroom was enormous.

The best gardening and maintained plantation we ever visited and stayed. the Breakfast was fantastic with elegant dinning environment; staff are very friendly and helpful. Christmas decorations were charmful and detailed. They even scheduled to feed the pair of swarms living in the little pond in front of the plantation big house.

The cottage room is a bit small comparing to our other stays. There is no other issues at all.

Lovely comfortable bed and bathroom, luxuriously appointed and high quality throughout the accommodation. Breakfast is generous and tasty, Gardens that are included are well worth a look.

Our room (B3) had a lot of noise from mobile homes in the car park, the adjacent road and the river itself. However orginal, some of the decor and storytelling comes across as tone deaf (statue leaving dining room for example).

It was absolutely beautiful here. The mansion and the gardens. We also liked the walk across bridge to see the Mississippi River. Our room was nice and clean and well stocked. We loved the bed. And breakfast was amazing !

The musty smell in the room. There was a wet musty smell that was overpowering in our room the whole time.

A beautiful garden of amazing spring flowers, comfortable beds in a lovely setting, we loved being able to enjoy the estate at nights and have time to stroll the n the garden in peace, the variety of flowers was amazing, the swans and peacock gave it an extra spice. The restaurant setting was amazing food was fine.

The cabin A1 we stayed in was right on the road and would have been noisy if it wasn’t the weekend recommend asking to stay away from river road.

The breakfast was wonderful. Josephine Brown is an asset to your staff. They attended to us wonderfully. I felt like I was royalty. The location was excellent. We especially enjoyed our dog being allowed to attend every event with us. The owner pulled a chair up for our dog to sit with us at our anniversary dinner. It brought happy tears to my eyes. The owner was hospitable, and so welcoming to us. We spent our 49th wedding anniversary there. Excellent!

More golf cart availability, especially for older people or people with disabilities, staying in the cottages. The golf carts seemed more assessable when there were no boats or buses coming in. The people in the cottages seemed to go by the wayside when big tours came through. We hoped that the mansion roof would be repaired for preserving it’s integrity. The house was too beautiful to let that go unaddressed.
