To start, I realized I was too weak following surgery to do the full week of camping I had planned. So, I was very relieved we found a great hotel to rest at. I was extremely exhausted from driving and they were kind of enough to help me check in early so I could collapse in a bed. The rooms were clean and modern. Houghton turned out to be the perfect midpoint for our travels through the Keewanaw Peninsula and Porcupine Mountains, and even though it wasn't on Lake Superior, there is a beautiful view of the river from the hotel. My son and I loved the extra touches put into the breakfast offerings like choice of chocolate or vanilla waffles and topics for decoration for the kids, and multiple types of coffee for us adults. We will be back again very soon.

Whitefish covered in batter. It's too light and beautiful a fish to use a heavy coating.

Beautiful place and view of water. Many nice amenities and a great workout room. It was quiet and a nice location where you could walk downtown and in the park along the water.

Didn’t care for the breakfast eggs. Would have liked more meat choices. I have been to some Hampton Inns with more fruit choices. Bathroom lighting is nice but a small pull out mirror on the wall would be helpful. Would have liked more bang for the buck in the room.

We didn't have breakfast, but on our last day it was nice that they packed the breakfast to go! I love the idea of that, some people don't really eat breakfast.

Not being able to put my reservation towards my husbands. I arrived a day late and could not get a reservation on Hilton.com and went through booking.com and could not get the same room my husband had. I would have to cancel my reservation and extend his. His a reward member that should have been a courtesy thing rather than a "sorry you booked with a 3rd party". So we switched rooms for one night, which was annoying.

Location downtown was great, with an awesome view of the river and hills across the way. Close to college and downtown, walkable to shops and restaurants.

Parking is a challenge here, especially to get checked in, as there is no short term parking for check-in and room for only 1-2 cars in the entry circle. Price is above average for local hotels during summer, but the benefits were worth it to us.

The rooms were clean, and the staff was great. Room was very spacious.

The fact we were right below the observatory and could hear it until close. We coukd hesr chairs moving and them vacuuming. Which made it rough to fall asleep after a busy day.The parking situation wasn't the best either. But there's nothing they can do about it.

Beautiful hotel, spacious room and bathroom, with a nice view of Keewanaw Waterway. Large and inviting lobby, a lot of breakfast choices, friendly staff. Great location - within walking distance to downtown shopping/restaurants and boardwalk area along waterway, also close to Michigan Tech and easy access to main road(s.) Felt safe. All doors to inside from outside had to be accessed by room key. Drinking fountains with water bottle fillers near main ice machine in lobby was a plus.

Great location! So easy to walk downtown and to Michigan Tech. We were there for a tour of Michigan Tech and a short vacation and it was the perfect place to stay. If our son decides to attend MTU we will definitely stay here when we visit. Breakfast was great and the views from our room were spectacular. Every worker we encountered was friendly and helpful.

Only thing to focus on is the breafast. Selection was a bit limited. Not so many choices. Coffee was the best in town though. 😀
