We traveled in my Tesla for this trip, so the 240v charger they have at the main house was fantastic. Woke up to a full charge, and needed it as superchargers are far apart in Mississippi & Louisiana. As we were the only guests that night, they didn't prepare breakfast, Instead we received a voucher for the Monmouth House in Natchez, and it was fantastic.

We usually like a cup of coffee in the evening, but there was no Kuerig or other means to prepare coffee. Seems like a situation that could be fixed pretty easily.

breakfast was excellent. staff were friendly and helpful in morning. beautiful block of large well kept houses. short distance from downtown.

our rooms were not in the pictured house but in a smaller one story down the block. no common sitting area except a dining room filled with tables which were set for meals. the owner checked us in and is struggling with some cognitive issues—took a long time with some confusion. no elongated toilets. front door keys were wonky—as if not cut precisely and had to try multiple times to make them work. room keys were fine. support staff great.

The breakfast was wonderful. The location was on a beautiful historic street. The owner went out of his way to take us to the restaurant of our choice for dinner.

We could not find a thermostat to control the temperature in the room so it was very hot in the room. We found one thermostat in the bathroom but apparently it was not for the room and didn’t do anything. By the time we realized the room would not cool down, it was too late at night to call the owner..

I was traveling with my father, who has a lot of self-imposed needs. The staff was accommodating and pleasant. My dad would say how much he liked and appreciated the ladies who cooked and took care of the house during our stay. In the mornings before breakfast, the owner would come over from the main house to the cottage where we stayed. He'd sit on the porch and talk with us for a little while until breakfast was ready.

It was a little less than a mile from downtown. Enough that it made sense to drive most days; though I did do the walk one evening. I'd suggest staying here if you have transportation of some kind, whether car or bike, if you intend to explore the area.

Convenient to everything. Very hospitable owners and staff. Delicious breakfast every morning!

My bed was pretty squeaky. Kept waking my sister up!😆 Also, it would have been nice to have a Keurig set up for those who are looking for coffee throughout the day. It was chilly when we were there.

The staff was fantastic, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a sample of southern cooking. We could sit on the front porch and watch Natchez life go by. Also, it was a short walk to the pathway along the Mississippi River to downtown Natchez and Fort Rosalie.

Breakfast was very good, though you were not provided with a menu, the staff just came and served each course. It is in a great location so you can walk to the main street/restaurants and the river. Owners are very friendly and gave great tips on where to eat. The facilities were very good. The room was very comfortable. It was nice to stay in a house for a change and not a hotel.

The staff stood outside our room at 07.00 in the morning, talking very loudly for an hour. I spoke to the owner he said he would speak to them but the next morning they did they same thing again. Not sure why they were even sat there, they could have gone into the dining room.

Beautiful house, we loved our stay in the Rose Suite. Friendly owners. We would definitely recommend staying at Devereaux Shields House.

The breakfast was served at different locations during our stay. Both were good but somehow we had expected the breakfast to be served at Devereaux Shields.

This property is beautifully decorated. It had so much detail in the decor. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Our host was amazing. She made us feel right at home. We will definitely stay again!

The history of house.

The breakfast was disappointing. Not only was it a fixed time (830), it was down the street a few houses, and then when seated, we were told to sit with strangers rather than at an empty table. The food consisted of a mediocre fruit plate, an egg casserole, and a piece of banana bread.
