The location was excellent close to the town with many bars and restaurants within walking distance. The room was warm, comfortable, quiet and of reasonable size.. The bathroom was small, however, was modern and had a bath and shower. There was a small continental breakfast to get you started, however, the room had a fidge, microwave and good coffee making facilities. Value was very good in comparison to more modern hotels, which were well outside of town. Overall an excellent stay.

Wfi was very good outside the room, however, it was very slow inside the room especially away from the door.

Nice little hotel. Older property but they have done a great job trying to update it. Friendly greeting, GREAT location in town. I walked to dinner, and there were other places I did not go I would have walked to if I had gone. Water bottles in frig, "breakfast" left in room (nanas, clementines, mini-muffins, nut bars) since they did not serve sit-down breakfast. Room was super-clean and comfortable enough. Cool decor. Not new and fancy, but you don't stay here and pay this rate if you want new and fancy. :)

Lots of nit-picking I think... Road noise was a little bothersome, but AC fan masked it. Bathroom was pretty small and it took a while to get the hot water in the shower. Sun hits front window so room was warm. Door did not fit tightly and needs insulation to block out light and cold. Wish there was a desk. Mattress a little saggy at edge but firm overall.

The property was in a perfect location to visit all the downtown shops, bars and restaurants. The suite was clean, comfortable and spacious. Ashley on reception was very helpful and informative and provided us with a nice healthy daily breakfast basket. I would highly recommend Murphy for a few days away. The Murphy Chopshop restaurant was amazing and The Mason bar had live music which was great. The only downside about visiting at this time of year was the Historic museum and some other places of interest were not yet open as it was too early in the season.

This was a one-night stay and we didn't want to spend $300-400 for a room to simply sleep in. I booked this with hesitation as it was older and I felt a little pricier for an older Motel, but it had excellent reviews so I decided for one night it should be fine. We were pleasantly surprised when we pulled up. The Motel was painted lots of bright colors and had a very comfortable, homy feel with a little funky, hippie thrown in. Just my vibe. The staff was extremely friendly and there were attentions to detail, towels folded special, breakfast basket delivered to room after check in, a handmade binder with everything you need to know about visiting Murphy, adorable community porch and Halloween decorations, to name a few. We could see that the owners, staff take great pride in their property. The room was very clean, comfortable and adequate for our stay. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Murphy. Also, the location is pretty ideal for walking around town.

This wasn't a problem, but king size beds would be nice.

Sunset Motel was the cutest 'lil place ever! We will definitely visit again when in the area. It was clean, comfortable and cozy. A combo of chic retro and staying at my favorite country relatives house, especially with the chenille bedspread! The entire place made me smile! In the morning we sat outside the room in the big red chairs drinking coffee while watched the day enfold then walked to town for brunch. Walking from the Sunset was a short walk to downtown shops, eats and drinks. 'Such a cute place!

we have traveled a lot. The customer service and cleanliness was better than any place we've stayed, in years! The room was perfect for what we needed and the manager was nice. Cutest little motel I've seen in years. We will definitely stay at Sunset again.

Nothing could of been better . It was obvious the owner and staff take pride in their business. From pleasant conversation to the cleanliness of the room and grounds. I felt like I stepped back in time when people were nice and accommodating to their customers. And the rooms and office didn't have a strong smell of spices, like most places have now a day's, even high end places.

The girl at the front desk was so friendly and kind! She explained several things to me and seemed to really love her job. I unlocked our room and it smelled so clean and looked so clean. They even left us a basket with breakfast treats in it. We loved it!!

Clean comfortable room. Good towels. Compfotable bed. It was a bit of a basic motel for the $116 price tag . No closet, just a wall rack, plastic-y cheap furniture the shower head was facing the curtain, getting a lot of water on the bathroom floor . Good location near downtown and near good restaurants.Overall it was a good room.

Price was too high for an oldschool style motel room.

THE SUNSET MOTEL IS AN ABSOLUTE HIDDEN GEM! SKIP THE HIGH PRICED "others"! This place is a 7 minute walk right up the hill to everything cool in downtown Murphy! There's a highly rated (but expensive) steakhouse, The Chop House, which is a 2-minute walk across the street. We stayed here at the Sunset Motel for New Years (2022-2023) to see our favorite band, BLISTUR, at Chevelle's!!!! (We drove from Orange Park, Florida TO WATCH THESE GUYS ROCK!) Terry was absolutely accommodating and super nice at check in. I talked to some locals about how cool this place is and they said they've heard great things about the renovation here..... And it's true! The walls have record album covers, classic cars pictures, and a peace sign right over the bed! The bed was so incredibly comfortable! We stayed in room 15. The TV was awesome and received so many channels! Air conditioning worked perfectly. The room was clean! You know you're welcome when you have cute, plastic pink flamingos right out front of your room, where you have your own individual parking spot. Even though they don't serve breakfast, there was an awesome little breakfast basket in the room complete with fruit and granola bars! The place seems remodeled with a 70s vibe. There's even a screened in porch where you can lounge around and read books. Also, there's an outdoor fire pit. During warmer weather, there are bicycles available for exploring! Again, you will not be disappointed with this stay here at the Sunset Hotel!

Always clean and incredibly cute and inviting. I stay here every time I’m in town. It’s a simple yet cozy place that is close to a ton of restaurants and stores and some night life. Old school hotel that feels brand new with the incredible maintenance. Adorable little fire pit seating area and cute porch areas. Free breakfast baskets in your room. It’s a very welcome alternative to these big institutional feeling hotels.
