Clean, quiet, comfortable

Wooden Bed post (room 326, I think) “squared off area” was damaged/splintered so much that when my husband walked into it, it cut his leg and made it bleed thru a pair of heavy denim jeans. I had first aide cream and bandage and wrapped a hand towel around it to prevent further injuries. Did not notice til another near accident occurred that apparently custodians removed towel which had been carefully tucked around the bare pole. I didn’t tell desk clerk about it because I waited a long time at the desk and no one showed up. Since the written policy in the room stated that only towels in the floor would be removed, I assumed this towel would be left alone. Ironically there were three damp/wet towels on the shower floor which were NOT removed.

Charming older hotel with a few remaining original features. Our room was spacious and nicely appointed. Cleanliness was excellent. The bathroom was very large and well appointed (water pressure was outstanding). Extremely convenient to Old Town Winchester shops and eateries. All staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Check in-check out times are 4pm and 11am. I was disappointed in this (especially the 4 pm check in time) as it felt as though we lost an opportunity to enjoying property like we would at other hotels with more guest friendly check in/check out times (ie; 3pm in and noon out). Please consider changing at least one, if not both, of those times to allow guests more time.

Love the restaurant upstairs. It is very uplifting and calm. Since I'm here often I wish some breakfast was Love the servers that are so wonderful And friendly Since I'm here so often it would be nice if front staff understood we always need a late checkout without extra charges. It would be helpful for some loyalty points. Wonderful hotel and we love coming here.

Add French toast large portions

I truly enjoy The George Washington Hotel. Well appointed, comfortable and lovely.

I mentioned to the desk that the roman blind in the bathroom did not lift, so no natural light from the big window. I was told this was intentional, no explanation. They need to repair the existing blind or install a different type that can be opened.

It’s a wonderful Georgian Revival hotel. The staff was wonderful.

The door from the parking lot did not work by pushing the handicap door opener, made it harder to get luggage inside. Our shower leaked under the door, which made quite a mess. However, when I told them about it at the desk, they had the maintenance man go to our room while we were out and he remedied the situation.

I liked our room, even though it was a bit small. The bathroom was nice, and the beds were comfy. The pool was really neat.

Breakfast was a little pricey and the room was a little pricey as well. Also, parking is a bit odd, they have a parking garage thats not theirs if there is no space in the actual lot. But the hotel is lovely and the location is great.

The room was attractive, clean, and comfortable; the decor was fitting for this historic, early 20th century hotel. The location is perfect for exploring the historic areas of Winchester by foot; it's walking distance from many of the historic sites and from a number of good restaurants. There is a surface parking lot and parking deck adjacent to the rear of the building for hotel guests with accessible access to the building.

Although the lobby is small with some soft seating, not the generous size one often expects to see in a grand hotel, there is a generous sized, attractive bar area with seating adjacent to the lobby.

The staff was superb. Courteous, friendly and helpful. We love the comfortable feel of the hotel. Its location is ideal for our visits to Winchester. My wife and I have been visiting Winchester for over a decade for little mini vacations and it never fails to delight us.

The only problem was that we could not stay longer.

We had been traveling for a few days and needed a more substantial place to stop. This was it. it made us feel a little 'classier' than staying at the Quality Inn (no offense). Great pool (with columns!). Although there is no breakfast included, there are an abundance or very good places right outside (also dinner!).

Very comfortable room and bed. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had a lot of water pressure. We were just passing through and wish we had time to enjoy the hotel. The pool looked relaxing and the bar area was nice.

I was surprised at the $15 parking fee. It didn't seem like the city was that big to be short on space.
