Great service and staff. Very welcoming and responsive to requests handled by Thalita. Awesome daily breakfast which was high in protein and flavorful. Stunning views of the city and the sunrise especially delightful. Bus stop is a 5 minute walk away.

While the location is central in the city it is high in the mountains and between the cobblestones and construction and single lanes you may have difficulty with taxi/uber if you are traveling back and forth often. Would enjoy some more local dishes in the breakfast options (pão de queijo, bolo de fubá, etc). Dinner options past 7pm at the hotel are not available and even local food delivery via apps can be difficult because of the location.

It was our first time in Rio de Janeiro, so our main concern was with safety, which i'm sure is also the main concern with first timers. Let me tell you that we felt very safe at Pousada Rio144 and had no issues whatsoever. Regarding transport, we always used UBER Black, scheduling and reserving our trips in advance on the app with no problems. Be mindful that to access this place there are steep sections of road right at the entrance. In our experience, UBER always came to the front door of the Pousada Rio144. The place is beautiful, well kept and very peaceful. The view is out of this world. The staff and the owner are amazing. The owner dog, Flash, is small and very well behaved, we love animals, so he was one of the highlights of our stay. The staff was very helpful to order some food for us online for one of our dinners (in Brazil they use their own food ordering and delivery company named ifood not available to us. UBEREATS and other similar multinational food services don't work there). The breakfast was very nice, and there was no problem for me as a vegan to have options (juice, fruit, bread and jams). Our room was spacious, with a beautiful view and very clean. Be mindful that they don't have television in the bedroom. We also never used the site wifi so we cannot comment on that, we used eSIM cards for our data connection. We loved our stay, and if we return to Rio de Janeiro, we will absolutely return to Pousada Rio144. I'm sure you will love it too.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Pussadoa Rio has one of the best views of Rio. Every night and morning you are overlooking sugar loaf mountain and Christ the redeemer from the property. It is a slight challenge to get to with uber but just be persistent and they will drive you to the top of the hill. The team was also so nice and always willing to call a local taxi from Santa who is used to the hills. The property could use a little face lift with some fresh paint and furniture. We had the suit which was beautiful but it needed a little love. The breakfast was delicious every morning with great coffee.

The only thing would be that there needs to be a little face lift in the room. Hotel is a little bit hard to get to but that’s bc of the view you’re getting at the top of the mountain.

Love the overall quiet, peace and calming setup within Santa Teresa away from the crowded, noisy, beachy and party area of Rio. Hosts are very welcoming and we spend a good time exchanging pasts and presents. Room and bed is comfy and clean. Lovely terrace for a peaceful me-time to red a book fronted by a pool overseeing Rio and the Sugarloaf mountain. Not to forget waking up to the sunrise view. It's a wonderful place to escape from the hustle bustle of the city.

Nothing major. Minor challenge getting Uber up to the property but we travel semi light and generally enjoy living like a local and strolling around Santa Teresa scenic views. Buses and tram is available all the way up close to the property. Just few mins walk after and you'll find the property.

Everything. From the moment we entered the property, the hospitality is top notch, the food is absolutely delicious and healthy. We really like that the hotel focuses on minimising waste and have an eco friendly ethos. The check in was smooth and so was the check out. Jean and his team were super friendly and accommodating not just with the stay but also providing us with details around how to travel in Rio. The place is situated in a great spot that gives you views of Sugar loaf mountain, Christ the Redeemer and the entire city. For anyone who is visiting Rio, you will not have a better stay experience than this place. Overall a ten out of ten experience. P.S We were welcomed and bid goodbye by their executive chairman Flash the Pomeranian. You will get lots of cuddles, tail wags and kisses from Flash as a bonus!!!!

Our time at Rio144 was exceptional. Jean and Thalita are both super friendly and helpful and gave us plenty of amazing recommendations during our stay. The breakfast is also incredible. The accomodation itself is beautiful and it’s obvious so much thought has gone into the design of the hotel. It’s also nice to be away from the centre of Rio but still only 20 mins from Ipanema beach so you can enjoy the peacefulness of the hotel. You can leave the curtains open to catch the sunrise over Rio harbour which is amazing. We’ll definitely be back - one of my favourite hotels I’ve stayed in in a long time.

We loved the vibe and the atmosphere of this boutique hotel from the first second. We arrived early morning after an overnight flight and were greater by one of the owners personally. We received a breakfast on the beautiful terrace with iconic views of the sugarloaf mountain and the Christ of redemption. Simply you have to see the panoramic views, words are insufficient. We felt at home at the Rio 144. It was super easy to get everywhere in Rio with an Uber, cheap and reliable. The breakfast was as delicious as it was nutritious. The room as the hotel was tastefully decorated and comfortable. The nights were quiet and restful.

I can’t speak highly enough about the staff! Everyone was so welcoming and did a great job making sure we were comfortable! The view from the terrance and the rooms is phenomenal and the whole property is just beautiful.

Like others have stated, you pay for the view a little with tricky transportation. You have to plan ahead because getting a Uber can take a while. We found it easier to take a regular taxi back to the hotel from town. And we had the staff arrange a taxi for important trips (like the airport) and it that worked well.

This place has the most amazing view you can have of Rio. We had the Sugarloaf right in our room window. And from the terrace you can see the Christ Redeemer statue. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. We really felt at home here and enjoyed the laid back vibes.

The location has amazing views because it is remote. So if you want to spend the whole day out, it is great to return to this tranquil place after the chaos of Rio. But if you want to explore, return to redress and head out again, you have to plan 30 minutes per uber in one direction.

Superb boutique hotel with extraordinary views, well-appointed spaces and lovely, helpful, well-organised staff. A peaceful refuge in the fresh hilltop air above Rio, the hotel offers a great, varied breakfast freshly made to order and easy access via reasonably priced taxis to downtown, beaches and other attractions. The infinity pool by the honesty bar overlooking the pão de açucar and overlooked by the Corcovado is a magical place to refresh after a day in the city.

The only possible improvement I could suggest would be to include some healthier snacks among those on offer in the beautifully appointed rooms.
