Marcelo is a wonderful host. He is very approachable and knowledgeable on the area/Brazil and gave us many recommendations on where to go. He is really attentive and responsive to questions, requests and concerns, but also respects your privacy. The property has a lot of charm. The host lives upstairs and there are 3 differing guestrooms downstairs. There is a common room with a big TV with Netflix and Prime, and a fridge and microwave. The breakfast included was more than satisfying (bread, fruit, cheese, ham, coffee & juice) and was freshly prepared every day. There is a lot of greenery just outside of the garden and beyond that there is a favela (you are not staying in one, rather overlooking one from a distance). During the day, it is very tranquil but it was a little noisy in the night - you can hear music, fireworks, dogs barking and planes flying overhead. It was a really strange experience which added to how memorable the stay was. If you are not an avid traveller or maybe have never been to Rio, I would definitely keep an open mind if booking to stay here. That being said, you will be very safe here. The area - Santa Theresa - is a really unique and artsy place with a great variety of bars and restaurants and a good nightlife. It is a really interesting place to walk around in the day also. I would love to come back here!

It is not difficult to get a taxi or an Uber to or from this area, but please contact the host first as there are many ways in and out of this area depending on where you are coming from or going which can inflate the price. He will send instructions for you to show to your driver before arrival. We had no difficulties booking an Uber from the property but if you prefer a yellow taxi you can walk 5 - 10 minutes down the road to the nearest store, and you will find several of them there at any given time.

Beautiful apartment in Santa Teresa which has two-storey where Marcelo lives upstairs and guests downstairs. It has a nice common area as seen on pictures. Rooms are very nice. Marcelo is such a great guy, giving great tips and anything you need during your stay, he’s also english speaker which was great for us as our first time in Brazil. Breakfast is good, drinkin water from the tap and microwave and fridge in common use. Santa teresa is beautiful area although more expensive ”tourist area” in terms of eating and drinking outside and main streets felt safe even during the night. Local bus just outside the house which takes you to Lapa etc.

Just couple of things I could bring up. Getting there and out can sometimes be a little hassle. Uber car doesnt operate in Santa Teresa (at least at the time we were there) so you have to take meter taxis which is easily found on main streets during the day but during night can be more complicated. If you are at city center and want to go to back Santa Teresa during night taxis will take fixed price which is more expensive and all the drivers dont want to drive up to Santa Teresa.

Marcelo is the best host I have ever had. he is very accommodating and treats his guest very well. We were a relatively big group, but he was very helpful with helping us connect with taxis and other local spots/things. His property is a gem, absolutely beautiful, it is an oasis and I felt very comfortable and peaceful. I had the room with the double suite which had a hammock and that was very enjoyable. The breakfast was a treat every morning where we would get fresh bread, meat +cheese, fresh fruits, and juice. We did not get to enjoy the pool, but it looked really nice as well. We had the chance to meet his dog and cat and they were very nice as well. I recommend everyone to book this space, it was truly beautiful. And the neighborhood of Santa Teresa was also very nice. I will be back in the future. Marcelo and the property were just amazing.

This house is beautiful and charming. Perfect option for those who enjoy retro and antique style. Located at the quiet street of Santa Teresa, so you can sleep well at night. The host is super nice and helpful.

It's just quite difficult to get Uber there. Every time, we had to wait. Although our trip was relaxing and we didn't worry much about that

What I liked best were two things: the fact that it basically felt like being in a nature place. Right in the middle of Santa Theresa. The second thing was how helpful Marcello was. He is the owner of the place. I went through some difficulties with booking.com regarding my next location and he offered me great help. Super friendly!!!

The house was just beautiful in amazing neighbourhood of Rio. I had a lovely stay there, it is a great alternative for Copacabana. The host was very communicative and helpful.

Fabulous location in Santa Theresa in the hills overlooking the bay of Rio de Janeiro. Very clean an comfortable, with beautiful antique furnishings. Garden and plants well cared for - and there is a small swimming pool. The owner is just an amazing host who went out of his way to help us during our stay. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

Really beautiful house in Santa Teresa, a peaceful place. Marcelo speaks english and it's very easy to communicate, very flexible with every request (check in and out), excelent breakfast. It felt like home.

Not so easy to find the exact door (the address is correct but there is no sign on the street).

The house is greatly located on the hill in the lovely Santa Teresa , Marcelo is warmly welcoming you and you feel home very easily there ! We had a short stay but I recommended 100% Thank you !
