Nice and quiet room. Convenient hotel in the Kiulap area. This neighbourhood offers plenty of shops and restaurants and is quiet at night. Very friendly and helpful staff; a special word for Belle. It is possible to walk to Pasar Gadong, the main mosque, the Museum & Clock tower and old town centre. However; for the latter, a water-taxi would be more sensible. I especially liked the boat ride on the Brunei river, to the RIPAS- and SOAS- bridges and back through Kampung Ayer. The jetty is just beside the hotel. Would like to come back.

Extensive breakfast, but light tea / Chinese tea was missing. In fact a minor issue as one can make light tea by adding hot water to some of the dark tea. ...Leaving the place...

Have reported about the hotel on other visit but would just like to say that on this trip we used the Hotel Shuttle to get to the Ferry Terminal at Muara Serasa to catch a ferry to the island of Labuan . It is quite a way from Bandar Seri Begawan and not easy to find out local bus times so it worked well for us . The ferry runs every day but it is so hard to find out any information on the internet , there is virtually none and it would be good if the proprietors of hotels encouraged the Brunei Tourist Board and the ferry company to improve this lack of information for travellers such as ourselves .

No , we like the Al Afiah hotel

Just a normal hotel, nothing to say specifically. Very helpful and nice staff. Unexpectedly, they offer a really great and varied breakfast. There are lots of shops, cafes and restaurants around.

Smell of sweat in the room. The room itself was a little shabby, half of it was covered with the construction dust. The fun part is - the hotel warned us in advance about the construction work on the site. So we asked for a room far away from works, and the hotel responded that it is possible and will be considered. But in fact, our room was right above the construction place. Luckily, it doesn't impact us at all :)

We had a fantastic 4 night stay at Al Afiah. Breakfast each morning was delicious. The room was clean, large, and had extremely comfortable beds. The hotel cleaned and made up the room quickly each day, which was highly appreciated. Reception helped arranged multiple tours and boat taxis (the hotel has its own jetty only 1 minute walk away), which allowed to easily explore the city and surrounding nature, We were also able to safely walk to both the town center and the night market from the hotel. Would highly recommend anyone coming to visit Brunei to stay here.

No complaints at all

We stayed here for 3 separate nights whilst in transit from the UK to Melbourne having flown with Royal Brunei Airlines . The hotel is very convenient for the airport and the hotel provides a shuttle which we used (it was BND20 for 2 persons so reasonably priced ) . The rooms are clean and comfortable , the buffet breakfast available on our first night's stay was very good , local food which we enjoyed . It was Ramadan on our other 2 nights so no lovely Asian breakfast . There are plenty of local restaurants a short walk away . The great bonus for us was that the Hotel has a boat that gives trips on the Brunei River and we liked it so much on our first day that we went again on our last day on Borneo and saw crocodiles and probocis monkey's amongst other wildlife on the trip . They also go past and around Kampong Ayer river village . We would definitely use the Al Afiah again if we are lucky enough to go back to Brunei .

No lovely buffet breakfast when it is Ramadan but this is throughout Brunei and not the Hotel's choice to make .

The room was very spacious, which is appreciated, there is plenty of room to put your things. Also, it is always very clean and check in and check out was quick and easy. The breakfast is full and you won't go hungry. The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times.

It would be nice to have some more toilet paper in the rooms, as we had to ask for it several times. It's not very close to the main sites at the centre on foot, but it only takes about 10 min. by car and the location is very convenient if you want to have a few good places to eat close to the hotel (and it is close to the night market by car, which is also great).

The staff were beautiful and lovely people, very helpful and always smiling. They have their own jetty so I was able to join some people the last minute for a river cruise, the boss just made it happen. I'm pretty easy going so when he said you ready now, I said yes. The boatman spoke some english enough for us to communicate, it was such an enjoyable ride. The driver Yus was exceptional, he was a friendly young man who took me to different mosques and took my pics. I would go back for the people, and not a Friday as all mosques were closed to public. Water pressure was amazing, breakfast was outstanding. I had to try local dishes or it would not be a holiday, theres enough to choose from and have a heart breakfast before you battle the heat outside. Love the water bottles in the room upon arrival, thank you.

The room was a bit stinky because of chemicals. Not a fan of bleach! It smelt damp and felt damp, especially at 1am upon arrival. The aircon is directed towards the bed - but thats because Im just fussy. I tried to move the vent to give me a good nights sleep, bed was comfy thank goodness. So were the pillows. If the stinkiness wasnt there, it would have been better. Sadly you cannot open the windows, in case of mosquitoes .

We liked how the rooms were spacious. The location was near the supermarket and restaurants and other establishments. It was also quick to book a Dart to go to tourist spots. It was notable that we got to taste local dishes during the buffet breakfast. I personally like the Nasi Goreng and Soto Ayam. Ayam Kari which is a staple breakfast dish, is also good. The hotel staffs were attentive to the customer's needs. The receptionist was able to help us give direction going to ATM as we were not able to withdraw cash at the airport. The ones in the restaurant quickly get the empty plates from our table. When we checked-out, we were able to keep our luggages at the reception since our flight was late in the evening. We hope we can come back here and we recommend to stay here for future tourists. Thank you so much! We had a great experience staying here.

Refill of water is available if the hotel restaurant is open or if you request the room to be cleaned.

The staff was phenomenal and helped in every way possible. The room was huge but pretty devoid of furniture. I asked if there were table lamps, a table, and chairs that we could use as none were in the room. They made that happen cheerfully and promptly. A boat tour of the stilt homes was also arranged quickly at a convenient time, although it was only an hour and not the two hours posted. I really appreciated the staff standing at the door wishing us farewell when we left - what a nice touch!

Breakfast was included in our room rate although I never went after the first morning because ALL the choices were barely warm at best. I instead bought fresh rolls at LOF Bakery right across the street. There were lots of small bugs in the room but they didn't bother us.
