The hotel is REALLY old, but nothing that actually interfered in our experience, even though in a first glance it is a bit shocking when you see it. Location was great, really close to the Regalia Museum and in a 10-min walk to most of Bandar Seri Begawan's top attractions. Additionally, the room could really hold the temperature - it was scorching hot outside, but really nice inside, even with A/C off. Another huge plus was the restaurant, with fantastic and affordable food!

Lack of some amenities like hand soap.

The room is sufficiently equipped with aircon, pillows, TV, mini fridge, table & chair, wardrobe, bathtub and toilet with complimentary soaps. The basic necessities for a comfortable stay are met. It is a very aged hotel but the room was comfortable for the duration I was staying.

The aircon wasnt working so I had to complain twice before they properly cleaned it. The flush is quite weak so you have to do it twice and sometimes thrice for things to go through. The power socket is situated behind the TV cabinet so its quite inconvenient to charge your devices. The Gym is spoiled and run down. The lift is old and outdated with improper ventilation.

This not only encourages better sleep habits and less nighttime phone usage but also aligns with the 1970s theme, where such modern conveniences were less common. The breakfast hall continues the 1970s motif, featuring large circular tables designed for family gatherings, subtly critiquing modern individualism and career fixation by emphasizing the importance of cherishing time with loved ones. Adorning the walls is a ‘hall of fame,’ showcasing photographs of notable figures including the first Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, amidst other distinguished global politicians. This display is not merely nostalgic; rather, it serves as a portal into the socio-cultural and political landscape of that era, particularly highlighting Brunei’s complex role in Southeast Asian and global history. These walls, more reminiscent of a living museum, offer a more immersive retrospective experience than one might typically find in a conventional museum setting, bringing the vibrancy and nuances of the 1970s vividly to life. To deepen the immersive 1970s experience, the hotel exclusively plays music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s during breakfast. Classics like Brian Hyland’s ‘Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini,’ Ray Peterson’s ‘Tell Laura I Love Her,’ Georgia Gibbs’ ‘Seven Lonely Days,’ and Mark Dinning’s ‘The World Is Getting Smaller’ transport guests back in time. This musical journey complements their goal of immersing guests in the culture of the post-war era, offering an enlightening and nostalgic educational program. The Terrace Hotel’s ‘1970s time-travel’ theme is taken to extraordinary lengths.

The room is quite spacious and clean. The internet line is good. I also like the location that it's not really at the center of the city but it's very close that you can walk and enjoy the scenery and the pasar malam is only 5 minits walk.

There's no obvious entrance sign and surprisingly no botol mineral water and instant coffee or tea provided. And also there's no soap only shampoo and shower caps.

The 80s to early 90s decor and electronic/electric items. It felt like I was transported to that time period. It's got a swimming pool and old gym equipment. Staff was very helpful with all my questions about the city.

Nitpicking here. Maybe the price is more than I usually pay.

Ideal location. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Coffee makings and bottled water provided each day. Comfortable bed and good air conditioning. Nice pool area. Decent wifi reception.

Reception and restaurant area had a musty smell. Television signal poor and then stopped altogether after 3rd day.

Breakfast was good . Great value for money , good choices and portion sizes. Staff very friendly n welcoming. Terrace hotel is a great location. Everything is in close vicinity. I will definitely visit again

They should rebrand as a 60s theme hotel, everything is so retro and classic. Really fun experience of traveling through time. We were the only guests so pretty much had the place to ourselves. The bed was comfortable, room was clean, nice view of the trees outside. Pool is great and there's a darts room and pool room. Meals are cheap and easy. It rained and the reception gave us their umbrella ☔

Little slow on the communication

Having read the bad reviews of the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised how good the hotel in fact is. It is old but everything works well. The staff is kind and helpful. It is very clean. The room is well furnished, including a kettle and fridge. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom has a good shower over a bath tub, the towels are nice and new and changed every day.

The only inconvenience is lack of power points. The only one to charge your mobile is behind the TV in the corner of the room, far from the bed.

The staff were lovely and it had a family run vibe. They were very kind and very polite. The food was really nice, I ate there every morning for breakfast and a couple of meals later in the day. It’s located near to a lot of the things to do which was great!
