Spacious clean room with balcony. More than enough of solid timber furniture. Minibar. Cool A/C. Very good WiFi signal strength. OK bathroom/shower. Friendly Reception. On departure they gave me Cambodian kroma scarf.  Really good Battambang Corner Restaurant just 1 min walk. (I accepted an offer of a little more expensive but larger Deluxe room with balcony, which I'm reviewing here)

Additional 2.35% for paying with bank card. Thin bed cover/sheet. Slow or non-existing WiFi (in my room) so I used local mobile data/SIM (Smart network).

Stayed in the balcony room, although we didn’t use the balcony as it was too hot and there was a lot of dust from the road. Room was very spacious, clean, quiet at night and very comfortable king bed. The staff were all lovely - very friendly and helpful. A quick walk to pub street area and the market was just across the road. The bus line we used picked up directly from the hotel.

The shower was great and lots of hot water - but it was one of those wet rooms, so a bit of an inconvenience at times, but not really a problem.

The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. It's in a good location in Battambang, right next to central market. Great eateries around there and its near pub street (but not loud). We booked a day tuk-tuk tour through the hotel and it was amazing! We also booked our onward bus journey through them as well. Would recommend staying here for your time in Battambang.

It wasn't an issue for us but there isn't an elevator so we had to go up 3 floors to our rooms via the stairs. The staff did help with the bags but I think it's a good thing to be aware of if you have any mobility issues.

Location was great. The staff were friendly, and explained the differences between room types that was poorly explained on this website, so I was able to upgrade to a much better room on the spot for only $3; no problem at all. Space in the room was fine, so was the toilet/shower, and the ceiling fan is always a great bonus. Wi-Fi was good.

Not that I imagine there was much to do at night, but I was surprised to find when I went down late to head out and look for a late-night shop with beverages, and just to see the town at night, that the front door was locked. I have been in hotels with curfews before, and they always mention that during check-in. I suppose (though don't know for sure) that the night staff was sleeping in a back room somewhere. I didn't really feel like fussing about to look, and there was no bell/phone number, but at least the hotel had a fridge with paid drinks, so I took one or two, left some money and a note behind the desk, and returned upstairs, as there was really nothing else that I could do.

It’s very near the market and within a few minutes’ walk from VET Bus office. The owner kindly accepted my booking after Mother’s House made a mess and double booked my booking. Being in a hurry, I booked a room with fan but it was adequate enough. There was a coat rack in the room which made up for the lack of cupboard. I was also able to borrow a kettle from the reception. The owner also helped arrange for a tuktuk driver to bring me around and presented me with a krama just before I left. Thank you again!

I chose the Royal based on recommendation. The Royal is situated in Battanbang near the north end of town, a short distance from the central market, and a short distance from one of the bus stations. The rooms were spacious, equipped with air-conditioning and fan, large wardrobe, desks, table and chair, and a large bed, and en-suite. I booked a room with balcony. The staff were extremely courteous, friendly and helpful, and provided great assistance in arranging tours and bus tickets. The Hotel Manager arranged a tour guide for me, Mr Soon, for the day, around the Battambang region, who was an excellent driver, knowledgeable guide, courteous and helpful. As I left the hotel manager presented me with a handsome locally made scarf as a gift, which I thought was a most generous gesture to a guest. All in, the Royal has been recommended in other places, and is a good choice for a stay in Battambang, and I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone based on my stay. The Royal hotel has previously open awards from other travel sites, and deservedly so, given the service they provide.

No lift in hotel may make access for some guests difficult, if they are struggling with heavy bags, however the staff were on hand to assist.

Had very good experience in this accomodation. Very nice and friendly people. Helping with everything you could imagine. Including pickup up from bus station. So of course, its not luxury hotel, but it is exactly as described and the people here makes it really nice!

well, as everywhere else in Asia, bathrooms could be designed a bit better :). But thats about everywhere you go.

Exactly as described. Even had a tuk-tuk to greet me when the bus arrived. Gave me a room on the 1st floor when requested. Also opposite the best coffee shop in Battambang with croissants worthy of the name!

A bit too close to the market for me, as found the sight and odours of dead animals a little much. Also in many ways deserves a better location than Battambang, whose delights didn’t need the week I’d allowed and has few Vegan dining options.

Walking distance to the shopping market and many delicious restaurants and coffee shops. Staff helped with booking transport and arranging tours. Great sunrise views on the rooftop. We had a great workout taking stairs because there is no elevator. The very strong front desk girl carried our luggage 23 kg / 50 lb up for us.

The rooftop restaurant is no longer operational. There are tables up there for you to sit for city views.

The hotel is very simple and old, so don’t have high expectations, but for this price you shouldn’t have. However, I gave the maximum rate because of the staff. Narin and his family run the hotel and they are extremely nice and lovely people. Narin guided us with his tuk-tuk around Battambang’s rural area, and thanks to him, we could see a different face of Cambodia which was a wonderful experience. If you don’t mind not having luxury, this hotel is for you! And the location is very good, btw. Absolutely in the centre!
