It’s like stepping back in time - this hotel is a modified French style villa from 1933 and it has retained all the features, furnishings, and charm. But add to that a pool and amazing food! I loved the Asian breakfast and they also do lunch and dinner. The staff are incredibly helpful and professional and couldn’t do enough for us. Oh and very comfortable beds. Great location on the river. Would stay again

Keeping its original 1933 features meant there were a few quirks, but nothing that would prevent me from staying again

La Villa is a beautiful, romantic French colonial mix of museum, film set, and hotel. The staff are fantastic, always happy to help, always a smile and available to assist wherever they can, we, for example took a trip out to Wat Banan with one of them. We enjoyed breakfast, their pancakes are excellent as is their bread and we had dinner here too which was great. We loved the building, the cicadas, the frogs the cat fights and the dogs, not so much the cockroach, but it is SEAsia, so totally expected. There were a few loud bars nearby, but not so loud the aircon didn't cover them. The hotel has security, which is reassuring, given a stiff breeze could open your room door and the safe is mounted to a wardrobe. Additionally, it's best to consider an escape route in the event of a fire. There's only one staircase. Overall, it's a real pleasure to stay somewhere with such authenticity and gravitas in an increasingly modern world. Remember, the building is from 1920. It was a home, not a hotel, and the world in which it sits has changed, its giant neighbours do it no favours. Don't expect a 21st century stay. We loved it.

Beautiful historic villa with lots of original switches, lights, fans, etc. Not modern but lovely and comfortable. I think there are only 7 rooms. We had one on the second floor that was enormous! Had an entryway with a dresser and mirror and bathroom off that, then into the bedroom, which was huge, with canopy bed, couch, desk, etc. Shared terrace in back and larger one in front. Really lovely. The staff are a delight and do everything they can to make you happy. Lovely pool! And, two darling cats. Thoroughly enjoyed the 4 nights and could've happily stayed longer. Highly recommend.

Bathroom could've been a tiny bit cleaner. The tiles are antique so, of course, look dirty, but when water escaped the tub and we mopped up with the bath mat, we saw that the floor actually was dirty. The window fan needs a good clean too.

The staff are wonderful. Miss Tea in particular, but really, all of the people who worked there were terrific. The location is great and convenient. Very comfortable bed. Good breakfasts and delicious food, generally. La Villa is a beautiful heritage home and it was lovely to stay here.

A grand old building such as this will have its limits. Maybe you cannot fix the water pressure, or replace those beautiful old tiles that are worn out or stained, for example. But some things really MUST be attended to. In particular, the locks on the doors. Just replace them for goodness sake! Fighting to get in or out of the room every single time pretty much sucks AND is unnecessary. If you cannot repair the old ones, get new ones that work. Same with dusting old fixtures. At some point it's not charming, just grubby.

I'm in awe with the interior and the classic vintage atmosphere it made me felt. It almost felt like I was at home instead of a hotel. The room was enormous with antique/Chinese decoration. The breakfast was superb as well as the staff. They were helpful and informative. I went out late and the guard was waiting to open the gate for which I appreciated so much since at night they usually close their gate for safety.

I think if they improve these following include a cleaner pool, some parts of the hotel could be refurbished to appear cleaner and new (like the water leaking area on the ceiling and damaged wall). Bed were comfortable but perhaps maybe a new fresh linen sheet to each room would be nice and matching one for the day bed instead of a random mismatch one. At one point, I couldn't find people at the front desk, so I had to wait and come back again though they were helpful. Open up to a deep spring clean would be excellent in my opinion.

We loved the authentic building with its old style and period furniture. All the staff were amazing, very cheerful, friendly and helpful. Our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the light breakfast (fruit & yoghurt is my favourite) and the French bread was very tasty.

The bathroom didn’t have a proper shower - just a shower spray over the old fashioned roll top bath. This was OK though for a 2 night stay. The pool area was lovely but only 6 sunbeds for a 7 bedroom hotel wasn’t enough. Also the pool area lost the sun just after lunch as it came into the shade of the tall hotel next door.

The swimming pool was clean and well-maintained. The whole building is beautiful and even though a lot of the facilities are old, I had no problem with electricity or water in my room. The staff is incredibly nice, everyone approached every guest with a smile and attentiveness. I also liked that the dental kit had a wooden toothbrush.

The wifi is not strong, so if you end up having to do some work, you should use data instead. Some of the upholstery could do with a revamp, just to really bring the look of the room to absolute perfection.

Awesome pool. Very cool bar.

A/C in my room was marginal.

We stayed at La Villa to be in the city centre and experience the French villa ambience just for one night before moving onto another place a bit further from the centre for two more nights in Battambang. We had a great stay and was upgraded for free into an amazing room with a balcony on the top floor overlooking the pool which was lovely. We enjoyed all the interior design and the pool area and all our meals, the hotel staff were very friendly and there were even some cats and the cutest black little kitten that I fell in love with.

It's very sad for this hotel that there is unfortunately some music noise from a place nearby late into the night. Also, the Battambang centre and riverfront is not that amazing - we much more enjoyed staying further away where did some bike riding in the countryside and day trips that were great. We were able though to do the blind people massage in the Battambang centre one evening and an early morning bamboo train ride which were both great and convenient to do from La Villa location :)

Staff are great, breakfast was lovely in the hotel courtyard. All decor etc was beautiful - one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in- right up in the top of the the building - so much space! Bed was superbly comfortable - great nights sleep. The pool was lovely!

Louvre bathroom/toilet door doesn't really close - it sort of flaps around a bit vaguely filling the door frame. Unfortunately there is a restaurant behind which now does music until 1am at least on the nights we stayed. The management are aware but their hands are tied. Such a shame. But it DID NOT stop sleep it just stops wanting to sit on the balcony.
