Stunning and imaginative decor, it was so great to see the restoration of this art deco cinema bringing the building back to life. We are from London and it reminded us of the Biba store of the 1970s…really friendly and welcoming staff too.

Mattress was a little hard for my taste, but that seems to be fairly standard in many of the hotels we have stayed in in Cambodia over the past few days.

We had a suite with king sized bed, a separate bathroom and WC,, a quirky layout included an indoor living area and an outdoor balcony seating area overlooking the hotel's pool. The power sockets accepted UK square pin appliances/ razors/electric toothbrushes. The A/C was efficient and quiet. The shower was efficient with lots of hot water. The breakfasts offered a wide selection of good freshly cooked food. The owner, Pauline, and staff were helpful, knowledgeable of the area and with excellent English.

The hot water to the wash basin was on a different system to the shower and was virtually none existant, a problem for wet shaving.

Didn't have enough time to fully appreciate the splendour of this stunning place! We booked for one night only as we were getting the boat to the islands from the new port in the morning, and we arrived late from Phnom Penh. A really lovely welcome and the beauty of the hotel blew us away! The art deco of the whole place is just stunning. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool, but enjoyed sitting by it whilst we had our gorgeous breakfast before leaving for our boat. We were truly gutted that we couldn't stay for at least one more night to truly enjoy this beautiful hotel!

We would have liked to be able to go in the pool and have a drink after 9pm, though totally understand why it closes at this time!

From the very first moment you walk in you are greeted warmly and offered a delicious drink. The rooms are extremely well appointed, spacious, clean and vibrant with art deco furnishings. The exterior private deck is an excellent place to chill, the wonderful foyer with its greenery below is beautiful and serene. The breakfast is simply outstanding with a combination of both khmer and Western dishes. All the options are fantastic, coffee in the french press is superb and also accompanied by fresh orange juice. Their greatest asset may be the owners and the Khmer staff. They were so helpful, joyous and very professional. We enjoyed all our interactions with staff and the hospitlity shown was 10/10. We have been travelling through Asia for 6 week's and this was undoubtedly our favourite stay. Also a huge shoutout to Nina and Simone, the 2 gorgeous resident cats. This property is a real gem in Kampot, but book early as it's very small and boutique with only 8 rooms. We wish the owners and staff all the best, we hope to come back.

We experienced a wonderful stay at Hotel Old Cinema! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed with genuine, cheerful smiles, a refreshing drink, and a map of the area, with great tips for restaurants and other local places of interest. The shared spaces - bar, restaurant, and pool- were all very inviting, and the entire staff made us feel comfortable just hanging out there. But we didn’t travel all the way to Kampot just to stay in our hotel… getting out and walking around this vibrant area felt very safe, fun, and interesting. Breakfasts were absolutely amazing, and don’t pass up the opportunity to experience the Kampot sampler platter for dinner. We were definitely not ready to leave Hotel Old Cinema.

Location location location!! Right in the heart of Kampot, a stones throw from the Durian Roundabout and the small side streets full of bars/shops/restaurants are opposite the hotel. Short 5 minute walk to the Riverfront. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. Our room (Superior King Suite) was huge with a private leafy outdoor balcony overlooking the pool area and spotlessly clean with superb air-conditioning, a fridge, safe, and tea/ coffee making facilities with a kettle. Complimentary Shampoo and Shower gel are also provided and the shower was powerful with very hot water. Breakfast was the highlight, fantastic choice every day and the food so beautifully presented and served by the wonderful Lin who was a joy. This Hotel has been stunningly restored and beautifully and tastefully decorated throughout in Art-Deco style, beautiful pastel shades and plenty of greenery and huge towering palms and plants in the open roof area of the Reception area. Owners and staff were all amazing, so friendly and helpful and arranged a tuk tuk driver for us to see Bokor National Park and also Bo Tree Pepper Farm and the salt fields. Couldn't fault this hotel, we loved its quirkiness and the fantastic service provided by everyone who works there. Absolutely excellent stay from start to finish. Don't miss this gem on your visit to Kampot but book early as it's popular and you can see why.

Very polite welcoming and helpful staff. Allowed early check out as I was leaving very early morning. Cute cats, lovely plants in the rooms, good shower pressure, great breakfast.

The bathroom door wouldn't close even with the lock on i was travelling alone so not so much an issue besides having a colder room to shower in. Noise and light, expected more noise due to location but 2 small windows had no covering and I have trouble sleeping with lights, street lights were on all night long. Bed was a bit hard but all the positives I would recommend and go back.

This is EVERY travelers happy place!!! A renovated deco theater transformed into a charming, very comfortable, memorable stay with a delicious and beautifully plated breakfast! For the owners and staff, Hotel Old Cinema is a labor of love! Upon arrival we noticed everyone smiling - this is a result of the two exuberant owners and staff who treat you as old friends, generously attending to your every need. They recommended fantastic restaurants and helped us plan our day! We had a great time, and are so grateful!!! The bar is full of laughter! While in Cambodia the bar menu offerings are as disappointing as the cocktails! Hotel Old Cinema was an oasis of wonderful sounding cocktails, that were perfectly balanced with high quality ingredients! What a delightful treat! So we loved everything here!!!

We LOVED absolutely everything

This hotel is a former cinema now lovingly restored in Art Deco style. It has a definite wow appeal when you first enter the lobby and the bedrooms. The owners and staff are warm, friendly, attentive and helpful and create a very welcoming atmosphere. The bedrooms are large, quirky, spotlessly clean and have good air con. The small pool, restaurant and lobby are very tastefully decorated. The breakfast is outstanding. We had an evening meal there on one night and it was delicious and value for money. The location is just 5 minutes walk from the old town yet is very quiet. There are lots of super cafes and restaurants nearby to the hotel. Kampot has an alternative, relaxed atmosphere and is well worth a visit. This hotel is to be recommended.

I would like to have awarded a score of 10 but I have to take one point away for allowing smoking in the indoor/outdoor bar area (not the restaurant or bedrooms). A small point and one which shouldn't put you off booking one of the best hotels in Kampot, but it does let the hotel down (owners: room for improvement here)

Beautiful building with stylish entrance, breakfast area and pool. Really helpful and friendly staff. Good choice of breakfast although we only had coffee and fruit juice, the latter freshly squeezed. Comfortable bed and facilities as described. Hot water, the fridge stayed on when the key was removed. Ice making compartment. Drinking water provided. Great location. Would return and recommend to others.

The balcony is really tiny. Air conditioning needed help from fan to keep the room cool. Bathroom decor needs refreshing.
