The rooms were kept very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and mostly clean. The staff was very good about cleaning up after disrespectful guests. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the staff. I was quite a bit older than most of the guests, and the staff did a fantastic jog ensuring I was well cared for. Carrie, Ja, Matthew, Jodie, Jimmy, Danny, Louis, Louie, Beth, Caitlin, Blaze...I can't name them all. Just fantastic.
The showers in the older building were hard for me to use. The newer showers with the bench worked much better. One recommendation would be to add grab rails in the showers. Also, coffee before 7am would be nice. I, as well as many other early risers were looking for a cup before reading out for the day.

It was one of the only decently priced accommodation for solo travellers. I had pretty good roommates who were quite considerate and so there was not too much noise in the room. The location is close to a nice and relatively quiet viewpoint which is a short hike away called hoodoos viewpoint. The free bus pass was a big plus. Bed was quite comfy and toilets were clean. The room was at a nice temperature ie not too hot nor cold, even in summer.
The beds creaks quite a lot and woke me up several times in the night when someone moved around in bed. The door also shuts very loudly and that woke me up early in the morning when people leaves. the kitchen was very crowded so its hard to get your meals down if you are using the stove.

I loved the atmosphere of HI Banff Alpine Centre! They had a cafe open pretty much all day and a bar open pretty much all evening, with special events such as trivia, disco Bingo, and karaoke. The other aspect I LOVED about this place was the free Roam transit pass that made it so easy to get all over Banff!
Banff must be really expensive, because this was the most "affordable" place we could book, but it was still over $300 a night, for a hostel with bunk beds and a shared bathroom down the hall. We travel a lot all over Europe and other places and usually manage to find rates of $150-$200 per night for private room/bathroom accommodations, so this was surprisingly high.

What a superb place and location to stay. The staff is SUPER helpful.Everything just feels so sorted there. Love the fact that it is a little away from the main Banff Avenue. It gives you a feel of a cozy hill station. We attended the community bbq and it was so nice. Rooms are just what you need. A place to keep your stuff, crash and shower. Basic, functional and practical. From laundry to kitchen, everything is really sorted like I said. Best thing...the hammocks in the garden. What a way to just chill after a hectic day and unwind. The day passes for the transport are AMAZING. literally more than half of your Banff attractions get covered. Route 1,2,4 and 6...woah
Just the size of the showers.

Shared bathrooms were clean and accessible. The rooms were tidy and bins emptied throughout our stay. The provision of tap water, vending machines and on site cafe - very tasty. The outdoor seating areas were inviting and plentiful inclusive of benches, hammocks and chairs in a quiet location. Enjoyed the free bus passes as an added bonus! The room had a sheet, blanket and towel per bed for use and a fan for the warmer days. The kitchen area was super tidy, with clear instructions for provisions of dried foods, fresh foods (walk in fridge) and frozen foods - large freezer as well as ovens, hobs, toasters and a kettle. Lovely location with a gorgeous walk to town through Tunnel Mountain trail - this is a must!
Each night we were there, they had a karaoke running until midnight which became a little tedious.

The staff here are amazing—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The room is a bit tight for the number of beds, but it’s manageable. Adding privacy curtains to the bunk beds would make a big difference, especially given the limited space. The facilities are decent and kept clean. It’s conveniently located near the bus station. The location is great—away from the hustle and chaos of the town center and closer to the mountains, just the way I like it. Overall, it’s a great value for money and a solid spot to meet other backpackers and solo travelers.

HI Banff Alpine is located a short drive from downtown Banff, putting it in an ideal spot to reach any location. The surrounding views are stunning with a quiet location for a good night's sleep. There are plenty of group activities going on if you want to connect with others. I've stayed in plenty of grotty hostels, and this is not one of them. The bathrooms were immaculate with ample shower space. The beds were comfortable and the desk staff was friendly. When I had a minor issue, the manager Zinzan immediately took care of it going above and beyond to make me feel welcome.

It was great, and in a lovely setting in the mountains. The staff are so friendly and happy. Rooms and the setup were excellent and the food in restaurant was delicious! And the free Roam bus pass is a bonus! Thank you :)
The only thing I would say is that when the restaurant is closed, ideally another option to buy snacks would be food as travellers no doubt arrive at all times OR ideally advertise that there are no options to buy food between 3-5pm. Which was typically when I arrived. It’s nobody’s fault but in my head I chose to leave town in Banff to support the hostel and eat there not realising the restaurant was closed at 5 and I hadn’t eaten since breakfast. It was my bad but I was surprised I couldn’t buy anything not even a snack. Otherwise everything was it excellent to be honest.

The staff is really great! They even offered to put my boots on their boot dryer (which was apparently designed and built for a ski team that came once, and never been used since! I told them they should rent it to out-of-town skier and boarders like myself, I'd pay for that!!!) The cafe has amazing food, both dinner and breakfast. I stretched out my soar hip in the living room for hours and felt very at home, which was really perfect because I travelled from BC to ski for the weekend, and ended up pulling my hip on the 1st day(and I was in a dorm with 6 guys so not really much room to do yoga in there! haha). Having tea from the cafe, and making my own with hot water as I had special tea for my soar throat. Felt very comfortable! Super beautiful yard with big trees and a cozy little bar with a pool table downstairs. And the open jam night saturday was a blast! Great place!!!
The beds are NOISEY AF.. and the shower was a bit dingy.. Could possibly provide more natural soap, body wash, and/or shampoo for the showers. something that doesn't leave that horrible chemical smell for 3 days after haha.. i had to avoid it entirely and just wash my feet off as who knows who used the shower before.. hahah..

The parking is conveniently located right in front of the hostel, making it easy to access. They offer free bus tickets if you want to head down to the village, though we didn’t use them, it’s a nice offer to have. The place is very peaceful if you're looking to feel surrounded by nature, yet still cozy, as there are other guests around. We used the kitchen to cook, which was very practical, and my boyfriend had breakfast at the restaurant. Everything was great—both the bathrooms and showers were clean, and our room was perfect for us. We had a private room, and while the bed wasn’t very big, it was comfortable enough for one night. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The price was a bit high, but we understand it was during the Easter holidays.
