We had the most amazing stay at this charming seaside motel in Cowichan Bay! From the moment we arrived, Sahil and Michael went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their warmth and hospitality really made a difference and added a personal touch you don’t often get these days. The location is absolutely perfect - the motel is right by the beach, so we could literally walk out and enjoy peaceful walks along the shore or just sit and soak in the views. Watching the sunset here was magical - golden skies reflecting off the water, pure tranquility. The rooms were spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed. The views from the room were incredible - waking up to that ocean view was something special. It was also such a thoughtful touch that they provided water bottles and pops in the room. Parking was super convenient too, right next to the room. One of the highlights of our trip was river tubing in Lake Cowichan, which was just a scenic 30-minute drive away. Plus, grocery stores and great local restaurants were just 5- 10 minutes from the motel, so everything we needed was within easy reach. All in all, this place was the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and natural beauty. Huge thanks again to Sahil and Michael - we’ll definitely be back!

We have used the facility for a stopover before, so we knew it would fulfil our needs. Some time and money has been spent on the building since our last trip. We were greeted by the proprietor who was very efficient, and we were offered free complimentary cold drinks from the fridge in the foyer. The room allocated to us had recently been refurbished, along with a new bathroom suite. The location of the property is perfect for the short walk into the village, either for a bite to eat, an ice cream, or just to sit in the available bayside seating to watch the numerous seals that frequent the bay at high tide.

The only negative point I have concerns the newly fitted bathroom suite. The bath itself was rather narrow and when showering, the plastic curtain kept clinging to me. Apart from that....👍

I had a wonderful stay, in an exceptionally clean, and comfortable suite, The beds are so comfortable I always have a great sleep when I am here. This is my 4th time staying here. The front desk staff is amazing, and go out of their way to make sure you have the best stay possible. The last two times I was here , they have been working so hard on beautifully updating the rooms. This time I stayed in one of the updated rooms, with an ocean view, absolutely beautiful! When I stay here I usually travel alone and feel 100% safe. The Wessex Inn is in a lovely seaside village with wonderful restaurants, little shops and more. I honestly can’t say enough about this little gem!

Great customer service! The front desk agent was so friendly, professional and helpful. He offered to carry my bags and phoned the room shortly after to check the room was to my liking and if I had everything I needed. The room had a great sea view and was newly renovated to an excellent standard - it didn't feel like a motel at all! The microwave, fridge and hot beverage supplies in the room were very useful. Also, there were plenty of travel sized bathroom essentials like soap, shampoo, conditioner, and make up wipes. Would recommend and stay here again!

The size of the room was very good, spacious. Walking distance from Cowichan Bay restaurants and downtown. The kind gentleman at the front desk offered ideas of what to do in the area. We could take water and soda from the fridge in the reception area. At the moment there are renovations going on however there was no disturbance from these renovations. Would love to see the end product 😁

Warm welcome from manager, and some nice little touches with the amenities, eg box of tissues in room and plenty of tea and coffee making supplies. Perfect location for dogs as near a park and a short trail. Easy walking to restaurants and stores a major bonus as parking very difficult.

Room a little cramped with 2 double beds, a fridge freezer, cooker and mini kitchen but we only slept there so all good Floor was a little dirty

I stayed in unit 29 for 7 days. Had everything I needed. It’s an older hotel but in good shape. The staff and owner are so courteous they treat you like you’re the only one there. I understand they are new owners and their treatment of patrons show. Most accommodating.

Parking is a bit lacking for larger vehicles but that can’t be helped.for units that don’t have a freezer an ice machine would be nice.

Even though the property might look a bit dated, the units were clean, the bed was comfy and it was a great central location for the wedding in Duncan we were visiting for

The fan in the bathroom didn't work which made things humid in the room as the bathroom didn't dry out. Some more comfortable seating in the room would have been appreciated as well. I don't think I'd consider the units worth >$200/night but we understand with minimal places to stay in Cowichan that may explain the pricing for hotels in the area.

The accommodations were immaculate, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The breathtaking view truly captured my heart. I will undoubtedly return for another visit!

The staff exhibit a high level of friendliness and approachability. Despite our late check-in, Michael promptly responded to our call and provided assistance, demonstrating commitment to customer service excellence.

Great location right on waterfront. 5 minute walk to restaurants. The property is dated for sure, but it’s clean, beds are comfy, everything worked as it should and it’s reasonably priced. The hospitality is top notch. Thank you for a lovely stay!

If you don’t mind an older “motel” type stay … there is nothing not to like.
