Beautiful old hotel. Value for money is incredible. Yes, it’s a 2 star, you’ll see that. But it’s very clean, quirky 114yr old hotel and the operators are so charming. Will 100% stay again!

Nothing really, fancy soaps in the bathroom maybe. It had everything I wanted and more, for the price of a motel across town. Nothing I didn’t like.

I love the history and character of this hotel. The manager was very friendly and told us so much about the hotel itself, as well as the surrounding area. The building is beautiful inside. The rooms are freshly renovated but still maintain the essence of what they were like originally. Staying at the Rodmay was a treat.

I like it just the way it is.

We stayed in a room on the second floor, and, alhough aware of no elevator, I wish we had travelled "lighter". Next visit we will try to book the heritage room on the first floor, not only more convient but also the room is REALLY special with the furnishings.

One electrical outlet (top outlet of a two outlet source) did not work, the light in a night table did not work. We did not get a chance to mention this to reception (our fault)

Located in the old town of Powell River. Easy walk to the very good Townsite Brewing a couple restuarants and an art gallery. This isn't the "main" downtown of Powell River, but it is in a nice walkable area for evening entertainment. The hotel itself is unique. A number of odd features, but quite clean and the bed was very decent. No AC, so note that if you're travelling during a heat wave. Parking is an exterior lot behind the building. Tons of apparently free book on shelves thorughout the common areas, as well as lounge chairs etc.

The door to the room wasn't great, single handle with no standard hotel style lock.

Liked the decor and ambience, brand new bed linens and towels. Owner/manager very engaging and clearly proud of the work that's been done on renovations / restoration. He helped us take bags upstairs, as there is no elevator. Room was comfortable and clean.

It was a bit disconcerting to arrive in the morning and find not a soul around (too early to check in, but we'd hoped to leave our bags while we explored). I understand it was due to the difficulty of finding staff, so they don't have a full-time desk attendant.

I love the feel of this old hotel. The owner has retained its original essence, despite adding upgrades for comfort.

A small shelf near the bathroom sink would have been handy, as one's cosmetics could only be perched on the edge of the sink.

Very interesting period building with grand staircase. Lots of memorabilia around and we received a very warm and helpful welcome.

Our room was small, but pleasantly furnished. I liked the historic aspect of this hotel originally built in 1911. The old photos of Powell River on the lobby walls are really interesting. I appreciated the strong water pressure in the shower and the bed was firm.

The exterior of the property is a bit run down. The storefronts that used to be in the same building appear to be closed, and therefore not maintained.

This place is amazing and has so much history ! We absolutely loved this place! The stair case in this hotel is beautiful , the wood work and character in this place is perfect. If you live old buildings with lots of history , you will love this place as much as we did . We will be back one day. And Charlie is such a great guy and very informative, thank you Charlie .

The history and decor in the hotel was amazing, they show cased the history of the hotel with antiques and vintage photos of when the hotel was built. Very cool. Staff was super friendly and the room was very clean.

The bed was uncomfortable, an old mattress.
