We were at this hotel for less than 12 hours and I still feel compelled to give it a glowing recommendation because of the excellent interaction we had with the front desk concierge, Owen. Despite the late hour, Owen gave us a wonderful monologue about the county and what we could expect from the hotel. We were quite tired but he instantly lifted our spirits and breathed life into our weary bones. Owen is a shining example of what customer service should be, and what most establishments are sorely lacking. If we return to Courtenay in the future, we will find Owen. I thought it was a terrific idea to provide take-out items at breakfast. I’ve never seen a hotel with such self-awareness – some guests are literally just passing through and may not have time for a sit-down breakfast. You can just grab what you need and go! Fantastic. I also liked the cheese whiz.

not enough time with owen

The pool, the hot tub, the gym and the free breakfast. I also really like their soap/shampoo/lotion. Great service… the guy at reception always has a great, extroverted energy and always welcoming.

I find the price is quite high for Courtenay. I understand there is minimal competition for hotels in the area, so they can make the determination for the price and remain competitive. But when you can get a hotel in down town Vancouver (with less amenities to be fair) for the same price on Vancouver Island and not being a major metropolis city… it’s hard to rationalize the price for me personally. So I liked everything they offered, except for the high price that is prevalent in the comox valley, not just at this hotel.

The breakfast was better than average with a good variety of protein choices. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and large and supplied with shampoo and conditioner, an unexpected bonus, and the soap bars were a nice, convenient size. The fitness room is clean and well equipped, stocked with plenty of towels and water, and the equipment is in very good condition. I especially appreciated the Bible in the nightstand - all too rare these days, kudos for that! The staff are all friendly and appeared genuinely interested in their work and the quality of the facility and service provided.

The body wash dispenser in the shower was empty, but there was plenty of bar soap so no loss. There was possibly a loss of tile grout in a corner of the shower, and the toilet flush/fill mechanism would stick open preventing tank fill - minor maintenance items easily addressed. The fitness room window tended to drift closed.

The room was spacious and comfortable, stunning view from our 4th floor window and it even had a coffee machine which was just a lovely touch. The breakfast was the best continental/hot breakfast combo options I experienced during my trip through Vancouver Island. They even had a pool which was such a treat after 2 weeks traveling. Loved the place. Stunning areas like Campbell River, Oyster River and Elk Falls are less than an hour's from there.

Having to leave, could have easily stayed another night.

Death in the family they were quick to accommodate even though I left my MasterCard at home and only had a virtual copy. When bad weather added more complications they swiftly had me in a pet friendly room so my husband and dog could stay until the roads were clear. Good breakfast and waterslide open till 10 and pool and hot tub open till 11pm made a kid happy who had been trapped in a vehicle for hours and needed to burn off some fuel!! Everything was secure and happy hotel staff helped ease our troubles greatly.

Parking didn't seem as secure but there was nothing to complain about.

I honestly felt more home than home here. The best was so comfortable. I have not slept this well in a long time. I also appreciate that it's pet friendly, too. It was super quiet, which was interesting because the hotel was busy. The breakfast was excellent and offered great options. I'm diabetic and I appreciated the selections

It's not a complaint, but maybe offer a non sugar , plain yogurt for people with diabetes. Again, there were many options, so this is only a preference.

The hotel is well-located and close to restaurants. My trip aimed to visit Mt Washington and I found the location of this hotel to be good for going to the resort. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff were helpful. The room has facilities such as a coffee machine and microwave.

The breakfast was crowded, there weren't tables for all the guests and most of the food and drinks were out of stock. I couldn't even drink coffee. I waited in line and when I got to the food, there was almost nothing to serve. Furthermore, my room was close to the restaurant and in the morning there was a lot of noise due to the movement of guests at breakfast. It's a good hotel, but I found the price to be very high considering what they offer!

Beautiful hotel. Pool and hot tub were very clean. Room was absolutely gorgeous, and the breakfast was delicious!

One of the staff members working at the counter was incredibly rude. She had a newish employee taking care of our check in and instead of showing him the correct way to handle things, she became very annoyed and belittled him right in front of us. Jay did a fine job, and didn't deserve to be treated that way in front of customers.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely perfect—one of the best we’ve ever experienced! The staff was incredibly kind and friendly, making us feel right at home. The room was spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The amenities, including the hot tub, pool, and waterslide, added so much fun and relaxation to our stay. And to top it all off, the breakfast was the best we've ever had in any Canadian hotel. For us, this was truly one of the most incredible stays ever.

We stayed here as we're on a budget whilst skiing at Mount Washington just a short drive away. Bay View Hotel exceeded our expectations. 5 star service, cleanliness and absolute attention to detail. The management and staff are positive, highly motivated and seem to have a perfect recipe to make our stay as comfortable, welcoming and as friendly as possible. Our children (and us) loved the pool, slide, jacuzzi and hot buffet breakfast. Well done to all the staff and thank you. We're DEFINATELY looking forward to coming back soon!

Nothing. It was all excellent.
