The hotel is lovely, and the rooms are large, modern, clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the location right on the water, and the restaurant and gym are both very good.

I was a little disappointed by the menu selections. For example they do not have any non-dairy milk options, and it could have benefited from some more fruit and veggie options too. However, the food that I did have was very good and the restaurant staff were all lovely so it wasn't a big deal, just something that could have been improved on.

Staff, cleanliness and quality of the room were well above average. The best hotel we have stayed at in many years. Beds were incredibly comfy. Staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was extraordinary. Room was quiet and extremely well appointed; this, despite families and school kids staying in the same place. You couldn't tell at all once in the room. Allowed us to get the rest we badly needed. A real treat.

The elevator didn't work briefly for us, but staff responded to our call about it literally in less than a minute.

Room and furnishings seemed relatively new . I liked having the extra room with couch and TV was nice. Separating the tub and toilet from the sink area was nice. Clean and fresh. Breakfast normal fare to similar hotels where “breakfast” is included.

Just a note, the temperature controls were effected if the bedroom doors ( the left one) were left open. Didn’t realize until the middle of the night when it got stuffy.

Roomy with a good view and warm. Fast elevators.

One night out of three was ruined by noisy next door guests. They cater to hockey teams and we experienced very rude hockey players or supporters who were next door to us. Unreal loud behaviour which didn't belong in a hotel with no regard or respect to other hotel guests.

My pooch, Sparky, and I have been traveling across North America for 2 months and were booked on the Newfoundland ferry for July 2nd. A one-night stop in Sydney worked for our schedule. The Simon Hotel is conveniently located on the waterfront in Sydney Harbour. It is an older property that has recently been renovated. The staff is fabulous. The property is clean. The restaurant was busy. I had a comfortable rest and was able to do laundry in the morning before checking out. The doggie water and food bowls plus treats in our room were a nice touch for my travel buddy, Sparky.

Staff was friendly and professional. Rooms are nicely updated and clean. Comfortable beds. Great walkable area around hotel (harbour, restauarants, parks) Lovely water pitchers in the lobby with cucumber or lemon slices were a nice bonus as it was a hot day when we arrived.

Although the building had been updated recently with modern finishes and lovely decor, the bathrooms weren't entirely updated... the new tile and counters were beautiful, but made it very noticeable that the tub/shower, toilet and baseboard heaters had Not been updated.

Very clean and location is excellent. Decent lay-out for the one bedroom suite. There was small bar-fridge, but not the smallest, and a microwave. We asked for, and was supplied with a toaster. There is a one cup coffee machine. While there was drink ware in the room, no dishes or cutlery, however, that was supplied as soon as we requested.

The only negative thing from my perspective, is that the mattresses are extremely soft with not enough support.

A good hotel that is well situated, clean and comfortableThe highlight was our interaction with the servers in the restaurant who were a delight. They gave us excellent advice on what to do on Cape Breton Island and were funny and charming. A credit to the hotel.

There was some noise from the elevator shaft during the night from the elevator as we were close to it.

Restaurant attached was nice, rooms were updated and nice, comfortable beds and a nice shower.

We visited the end of September and they informed us they shut the AC off for the season. That weekend was warm and the room was uncomfortably hot. We tried to turn cool air on and it just blew hot air, you can't open the windows (only a little crack) so we got zero breeze. There was a fan in the room but it was quite sticky and hot to sleep in.

We had a beautiful Harbour View suite. It was hugh with a panoramic view of the harbour.

When the weather turned frigid, the cold air leaked in through the living room window and the room got very cold even with the heat turned up to 30 degrees.
