The Dunlop Inn is an absolute gem! Beautifully appointed, full of charm, and with a beautiful view of the estuary and the beach right off the private boardwalk just a few steps from the back patio with comfy chairs to sit and relax, have a cup of tea or glass of wine and enjoy the spectacular view. The Queen deluxe room was delightful with a very comfortable bed, sitting nook, private bathroom and big shower, and lots of windows that made it bright and airy. The Inn was very quiet at night and we had perfect sleeping weather. The breakfast was delicious and laid out beautifully. Along with access to the beautiful outdoors directly behind the Inn, guests also have access to the living room with a tv, comfy sofa and chairs, and leads out to a covered patio with more comfy furniture to sit and enjoy the fabulous view. The Dunlop Inn is well managed and the attention to detail and the attentive staff rounds out the excellent rating! We will be back!

We had requested fragrance free linens due to allergies/sensitivities and when we arrived for check-in we were told that the previous guest had perhaps spilled or sprayed perfume in the room so they could give us another room. They did let us look at both rooms and we took the new one they offered. The linens had been washed in their original scented method but it was far better than the perfumed room.

Checking in at a different hotel up and across the street was a bit awkward, especially since it was raining. We also didn't like being told that the room they offered us because of the perfume was going to cost us a lot more than what we booked. They told us that it wasn't their fault about the room and then the man was trying to bargain with us. Clearly it wasn't our fault either so he finally called the owner who said to not charge us any extra. It was an uncomfortable situation to be put in.

Loved the location and cleanliness of the Inn.

Didn’t like that the bathroom wasn’t attached to our room. I knew this ahead of time, but wasn’t expecting it to be as far away as it was. It all worked out as we didn’t encounter any other guests in our trek to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but if we would have I would have felt quite uncomfortable.

Old world charm on the outside but fresh soft furnishings and furniture inside. It is located by the water and they had Adirondack chairs place on the boardwalk for us to enjoy the ambiance of the location. The continental breakfast was laid out in the morning to pick whatever we liked. We were in close proximity to several restaurants.

Nothing to not like.

Dunlop Inn is extraordinary. The house is set on the water and has a comfortable deck from which to enjoy the view and sunrise. Our room was comfortable. Ours had a separate bathroom across the hall but it was private just for us. It was a spacious bathroom. The breakfast was great. Lots to choose from. Coffee and tea is available all the time. The location is good for walking to shops and restaurants. The owners and staff are so lovely. Check in was at a different location indicated by a sign on the door.

The location of Dunlop Inn is excellent with a sunny decked area to sit out on overlooking the water. The Inn itself was clean and there is a useful kitchen area for guests to use at all times.

We had room 3 which has a separate bathroom. We knew about this beforehand but if we were booking again we would probably choose ensuite facilities.

The view, the lakefront, comfort, really nice hosts, the lobster supper at nearby restaurant, and we loved coffee and tea with honey always available. Breakfast was really good too. Good location for driving the Cabot trail as well.

Didn’t like walking uphill to check-in. If we stay again we’ll stop there first.

The inn was very nicely laid out, immaculate, pleasantly decorated, and had a cozy vibe. The charming sunroom and outdoor seating facing the water were unexpected pleasures. The host for breakfast was very welcoming — super friendly and helpful, and created a warm atmosphere. Breakfast was yummy, and included homemade traditional Cape Breton baked goods…an especially nice surprise! The inn is steps away from a wonderful restaurant on the pier, as well as the charming downtown area…and the Alexander Graham Bell site is also located close by. We’ll absolutely stay here again if we have an opportunity to make a return visit to the area.

Great location. Right by the lake and very close to the yacht club and restaurants. Fantastic to sit by the lake for breakfast and in the evening. Lounge area was very comfortable.

Privacy on our ground floor room was impacted by people walking by the main window to get to the front door.

This is a beautiful property in a fantastic location with views over the bay. Although there are no full-time staff on site, those we met were friendly, helpful and very attentive. A delicious continental breakfast was laid out in the dining room and topped up as necessary. We would stay here again.
