Easy check in, comfortable room and beds, efficient air con, plenty of hot water, nice shower, nice and central for walking out to places in hte evening, festival on when we were there - lovely lively atmosphere in the town

It was nice having breakfast included but with a little effort it could have been so much better. We were a bit horrified at everything being single use plastic and the huge bin of plastic waste that it created every morning

It was a great location in the centre of Baddeck, with a lot of country charm. It was our first stay in Cape Breton just before we drove the Cabot Trail and we experienced the Cape Breton hospitality first-hand. They recommended we go to a Ceilidh (a local community fiddle performance) just down the road and it was incredible! Breakfast was served in a cozy dining room in a historic home with a lot of east coast country charm. It had a cozy, traditional, bed and breakfast feel the whole time we were there.

The property is not new, so don’t expect an upscale experience. Everything worked and was comfortable and clean, just not very modern.

Warm welcome on arrival; room spotlessly clean, bed very comfortable; had a great night’s sleep. Air conditioner hooked up, which helped provide some white noise to cover the sound of chatty neighbours and kept the room comfortable on a somewhat muggy night. Location wasn’t a concern for me on this occasion but anyone in the area touring the Cabot Trail would find the location of the property excellent.

Not a “dislike”, but I do agree with other comments that room decor could use updating - but, as mentioned above, the room was spotless so that didn’t impact my appreciation of the place.

The location is fantastic. It is within a short walking distance to the center of Baddeck, it’s practically in it, and we could see the water from our room. The beds were VERY comfortable. I also love that each room had two Adirondack chairs outside. We travel with show dogs and the fact that this motel is pet-friendly is the biggest bonus. I will absolutely stay here again.

The rooms are a bit dated, but very clean, and honestly, I’ll take quality beds and cleanliness over decor any day!

We enjoyed the relaxed and casual vibe, the good value for the price and the central location were perfect. The grounds were lovely and thoughtfully maintained. The staff were very pleasant, warm and welcoming. Great shower pressure and lots of hot water.

It might have been nice to add a few pieces of fruit or yoghurt cups with breakfast and the coffee could have been stronger, but the toast and jam and juice were perfect! The rooms are older but are clean and well maintained.

A beautiful location, with hardworking and friendly staff, who are doing their utmost to continue on the legacy of this lovely Cape Breton Lodge. They worked with us to ensure we got the most out of our stay when my sister’s flight to Halifax was delayed, with a member of staff staying up into the wee small hours so that we could check in and wake up with the gorgeous views of the Bras d’Or Lake. The breakfast is not fancy, but has exactly what you need to set you up for a day of sightseeing, hiking, or even just quietly taking in the beautifully kept gardens. The rooms and bathrooms were kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeping staff and were equipped with extremely comfortable beds, a good sized fridge, a coffee maker, clean towels and toiletries, an air conditioning unit, and more. Each room had a couple of comfy chairs outside, so you could enjoy the views and sunshine at ease. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and were very sad to leave…

Nothing. All our expectations were met, and exceeded.

The owner and managers were very personable, friendly and respectful. We ended up staying a second night, which was unplanned and when I reserved our room online, I received a call to verify our booking, when I arrived the Gentleman seemed genuinely pleased to see us return and gave us the sane room from the night before. The only thing that I could improve on with out whole experience would be tge breakfast, there was no charge but we opted to stop at Tim Hortons which is a 5 minute drive. Overall very pleased with our experience though, I highly recommend this place to anybody

Breakfast

The breakfast was perfect; loved the hot meal option. The A/C didn't work at first but I was able to play with it and eventually it worked. The rooms need a little TLC but they were comfortable and clean. Was surprised to see there was no microwave but owner explained why there are none in the rooms (fire safety issued). Location was perfect; nice view. The staff was amazing; we had so much fun with the owner when he got us mixed up with our son who also was booked to stay there but neither of us knew the other one was booked at the same place. It was hilarious.

The bedding looked new and good quality and the shower pressure and wifi reliability was really good. Everything was clean, newly painted and well-maintained, if older. The continental breakfast was in a pleasant dining room and included makings for breakfast sandwiches (eggs and sausage) beyond the usual toast, coffee and cereal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the view of the lake was very pretty.

The facilities were older, and the bathroom and carpet could use updating.

There was a lovely breakfast in beautiful surroundings. The motel was clean, and tidy and the site was lovely with Adirondack chairs everywhere to relax and enjoy.

It was loaded a bit far from town for walking. i am not as mobile as I used to be. However, the town and Alexander Graham Bell historic site were well worth visiting.
