Swimming pool requires swimmers to wear a cap. Wasn't prepared for that. It is extremely costly to buy from hotel. Would be good to indicate on the website. Location wise, not near to subway/food but easy to call taxi via app. There is a 7-11 next to it. You can walk like 10-15 mins to the left or right of the hotel to find food. Shower room glass doors are see-through. May not be convenient if you are sharing room. The shower room.doesn't seem to keep the water within the area well. I experienced wet-floor very easily. Can be slippery.

Room was very comfortable. Breakfast featured an impressive array of selections. I enjoyed the view of the city from my room on a high floor on the south side of the building. Great desk and nice office chair for working.

There was a loud TV in the bathroom mirror (???) that came on almost every time I turned on the light in there. To turn it off I had to use a remote control which I eventually found in a little amenities box on the bathroom counter. The location is a little inconvenient if you are relying on the metro to get around - it's about a 20-minute walk to any of the closest stations (Linhexi, Tiyu Xilu, or Zoo), during which you will be ridden at by e-bikes on the sidewalk every step of the way.

This hotel ate and left no crumbs. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was giving luxury without trying too hard. Staff were on point, respectful without being fake, and super helpful even when I hit them with random last-minute requests. The room? Clean, spacious, smelled fresh (which is rare), and the bed was so comfortable I actually considered skipping plans. Bathroom had that big mirror lighting moment, water pressure was chef’s kiss, and they didn’t cheap out on the towels. Location is dead center in Tianhe: malls, cafes, metro, all within walking distance. You’re not stranded

My experience at the Sofitel Guangzhou was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming and attentive. A special mention to Jennifer, who went above and beyond to make my stay extra special – her hospitality was second to none. The hotel’s location is fantastic, making it easy to explore the city, and every part of the property reflects quality and elegance. The service throughout was consistently excellent, and I felt genuinely cared for. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Guangzhou – I’ll definitely be returning!

This hotel was exceptional. The room was beautiful and the staff were so polite and eager to help. In fact we had a small complaint as we were first put on the 9th floor, right above the Bar/Lounge (8th floor)...and we could hear the music until 1am each night..but as we were having to get up early each day, we asked to be moved to a higher floor if possible. The reception team were so helpful and immediately moved us. Making our stay much more comfortable. The breakfast was huge with a great selection of all different types of foods. The pool, Jacuzzi and Sauna were also nice. The hotel is a 15min walk from the metro, so was very handy location wise, however Taxi's are rediculously cheap in China, it made sense just to get taxis to most places. For example a 30minute journey would cost around £3 GBP.

The Sofitel Hotel is located within a short drive by taxi (reasonable priced) from the train station, modern Teem mall shops and Beijing Lu shopping street and temple. Our room on floor 17 was overlooking a 14 lane road but was quiet. The room had comfort and modern luxury. The staff were helpful and friendly. Had all our meals at the Chinois Restaurant serving great Chinese food at reasonable cost including an eel dish. Swam at the 30m indoor pool and enjoyed the spa and sauna. Would stay at the Sofitel again when in Guangzhou.

The room need an electronic bidet, similar to that in Japanese public toilets

No negative aspects.

The view from my Luxury King room on the 16th floor was absolutely breathtaking as it was a 180 degree view of the city. Breakfast was delicious as it provided a variety of different food. The grand entrance of the hotel are what dreams are made of as it is enormous. Stay on the look out for Samuel who works at concierge. He was extremely polite, patient and helpful. He said that he would have my back and he certainly did as he went above and beyond every single time. I would come back to the Sofitel just knowing that someone like him was working there, absolute lifesaver!

The furniture was outdated

The room was superb! Very clean and spacious. The hotel itself is wonderful! And the location is perfect. Could not have chosen a better place. The staff were really kind and helpful. We definitely recommend getting the breakfast option. It really helped to not have to worry about where we would get breakfast and the options at the buffet are excellent!!! The cleaning staff are very kind and do such an excellent job of ensuring amenities are available to you. The location is close to everything, so that was excellent. The price was so right for such a luxurious experience! 😍

We weren't aware we would be charged substantially more than the agreed room price upon arrival, so we were shocked when almost double what we intended was deducted from our account. However, it was explained that a deposit was required as well as the room payment, and this deposit was refunded at check out, which was great.
