If you have to stay near the airport, this is the spot. I arrived quite late: check-in was a breeze. I had planned this so I would wake up in Costa Rica on my birthday. When I got to my room, there was a gorgeous slice of decorated cake along with the sweetest note! Breakfast has a good variety, shuttle pick-up and drop-off (all better than other hotels in the airport strip I have tried before).

The only reason I don’t rate it as completely perfect is the absence of a pool. But given I left the next morning for a beach, that’s a small quibble!

The location for this hotel could not be better. It's right near the airport and easy to access from any of the rental car places or using the hotel shuttle. It's across the road from an ATM and a Walmart if you need any last minute supplies. The room was a great size. Comfortable bed. Bathroom was large and big shower with good water pressure. The buffet breakfast had everything I could need to fuel up for the day. I ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner and it was similarly good. Lots of parking at the back of the hotel. I was concerned that it would be noisy being so close to the airport and highway but it was super quiet. I didn't hear any traffic or planes even though my room faced that direction.

Nothing, would stay again as it is super convenient to SJO airport.

After suffering an injury and subsequent surgery, the Fairfield by Marriott was everything we could hope for and more. We called ahead to enquire if there was a wheelchair we could use which must have had them flag our reservation because the care and accommodations they had waiting for us was wonderful and so appreciated. We did have an accessible room and the use of a wheelchair during our entire stay. I had one rough day that the staff became aware of and a pot of tea was delivered to calm me. I highly recommend this property and would stay again.

A great start to our holiday - it was clean, modern, quiet and had all the facilities we needed after a 12 hour flight and a stressful airport experience. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the breakfast the next morning was really good - lots of cereals, traditional Costa Rican options, coffees, juices, pastries, hams and cheese.

More information on the parking would’ve saved some stress before we arrived. There is quite a small parking lot to the rear of the property and the turning to it from the road is quite steep and narrow (especially in a new rental car!). We initially missed the turning and had to navigate the busy roads in the dark at rush hour before we found our way back.

The Fairfield by Marriott hotel is ideal for an overnight stay after or before your flight. The hotel shuttle is efficient and just a short journey from San Jose airport. Staff are helpful and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast buffet gives very good choice and quality and the dinner menu has numerous options. Alternatively there are restaurants and a large supermarket nearby. There is a car park and good access to major roads. I would certainly stay here again when travelling to Costa Rica.

The location was excellent for the airport just a few minutes away. The room and beds were very comfortable . There were 3 of us in one large room with two 5 ft beds . The inside was standard Marriott but not luxurious. The breakfast was pretty good . Fruit Oats Eggs Toast and a lot more.There are some nice restaurants opposite such as the Mexican so we went there in to eat in the evening. The gym is reasonably equipped and there is a Walmart 2 mins away. We were only there for 1 night so it totally met our needs . I would use this hotel again particularly for a short stay . Staff were also very helpful.

The convenience of location , comfort and service.

I recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is fantastic, with plenty of great restaurants and a mall nearby, making it easy to explore and find good meals. The breakfast was a highlight, offering a delicious variety that started my day off right. I also appreciated having access to the gym, which was a great way to stay active during my trip. My room was comfortable and well-appointed, featuring a nice workspace that allowed me to catch up on some work without any hassle. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its great amenities and welcoming atmosphere.

I found it challenging to work downstairs because of the loud music. It made it difficult to concentrate. If you need a quiet space to work, I would recommend sticking to the rooms instead

We were really impressed with the hotel, it was modern and largely clean, the room was spacious and the bed was very comfy. Helpful having a restaurant on site and we liked that there was a happy hour. Didn’t notice any noise from the airport despite being on the doorstep so excellent sound proofing!

We dumped our stuff in the room and ventured back out to drop off our hire car so didn’t inspect anything, but when we came back in the evening, we noticed a pile of white sand on the floor. This definitely hadn’t come from us or our stuff because we hadn’t unzipped our suitcase and had only been on beaches with black sand. Upon getting into the bed, we then noticed there was sand all in the covers which was pretty uncomfortable. By then it was too late (and we were too tired) to do anything about it, but clearly there needs to be some greater attention paid to cleaning. Other than this we were happy with the stay and would have rated a 9 if the sand wasn’t present.

Very convenient, clean and nice staff. Free shuttle to and from airport. The complimentary breakfast totally exceeded my expectations, with lots of options to choose from and was very appetizing.

The only negative is that our arrival was along with several others at 12:30 am, and we had to wait for over 20 minutes to get registered since there was just one receptionist. All was efficient, but they should be able to know when they are going to have their influx of arrivals since their customer base is from the airport.

Our stay at the Marriott Fairfield was comfortable, a great place to start of the trip before our 4 hour journey the next morning. Breakfast was amazing, great selection of local foods and standard breakfast foods. Staff we're so lovely and accommodating. There's a Walmart right across the road too which was handy for picking up last minute things like sim cards, snacks and toiletries.

Clearer information about the free airport shuttle prior to arrival. We didn't know we had to wait for it at the hotel shuttle part of SJO airport arrivals so we ended up paying for an overpriced taxi to the hotel.
