Located just next to Kyrenia Gate, this small hotel is a charming nestle with comfortable and restored rooms and a very good breakfast (more than 8 kinds of home made jams, pide bread and crackers, juices and other beverages, cheese) to be consumed in the hotel yard. The unparalleled value are Selay and her staff who welcome and pamper you giving you any help on what to visit or where to eat and making you feel a part of the family more than a guest.

Nothing. Just a piece of advice to would-be guest: go and visit Northern Cyprus for it’s completely safe, welcoming and unmissable for its natural beauty. It deserves far more tourists than it actually gets!

You don’t have to be an architect, anthropologist, or art historian to fully profit from a stay at Gül Hanim. Yet this is the place to experience an authentic, non-touristic atmosphere, a unique opportunity to live like a Cypriote in a traditional home. We spent eight days in White Gül, one of only three rooms, and were deeply fascinated by the old wooden ceiling and other traditional details. The courtyard garden is a gem in itself, welcoming and fragrant. There is plenty to discover within the city walls of old Nicosia: beyond the charming daily life, two caravanserais and a variety of museums provide insight into the Cypriote life style and history, not to forget a breathtaking performance by a whirling dervish in the Turkish part of the city. The passage to the Greek part is smooth, and we also recommend an evening walk in the urban park designed by Zaha Hadid, located at the south gate of the city wall. Throughout our stay, Selay, the owner, was a fountain of inside knowledge and helpfulness regarding what to see and do: markets, cosy neighbourhoods, fancy restaurants, some with genuine Cypriot cuisine, and an exuberant patisserie on our one-day excursion to Famagusta. The generous, healthy breakfast buffet includes a variety of homemade marmalades, and tea or coffee is served with a smile. Toilet and bathroom are modern standards, everything is kept clean and neat. Gül Hanim is equally recommended for introverts, as the intimate courtyard is quiet as life in the good old days – and perfect for recharging for another adventurous day.

I had a wonderful stay at this charming and quiet place. The atmosphere is so cool and nice. You feel just like home and can use the kitchen whenever you want. The breakfast is delicious, and I just loved sitting at the big table, chatting and sharing information with other guests about places to see and visit. The lovely courtyard is perfect for taking breaks and relaxing. It’s also very close to interesting sites in the city and just a 10 minutes’ walk from the checkpoint in Ledras street. If you want to take buses to other parts of North Cyprus, the stops are just a few minutes away. Selay, the owner tells you what to see and do. She is very service minded and want you to enjoy the capital, the island and does a lot to make your stay memorable. Every room in this guesthouse, (originally started years ago by the owner’s grandmother), is full of antiques, pictures, and furniture from old days. You can really feel that Selay and the nice woman who helps with everything, really love this place, and does what it takes to make everything perfect for the guests.

The host, Selay was so kind in meeting us, arranging an early taxi to the airport for us, and even bringing breakfast forward just for us. She also gave good advice in exploring Lefkoşa. The hotel is named after her grandmother who used to own the property and you can see the love that has gone into it. Nice room opening onto a sweet courtyard. Good WiFi, shower. Great shared kitchen facility.

We should have stayed longer.

Top location in the center of North Nicosia in the multi-ethnic quarter. A very neat renovated old house with a beautiful yard and a wonderful room where everything is taken care of, especially a comfortable bathroom. Kitchen available for guests. A wonderful breakfast in the courtyard with an interesting chat with the owner, who gave us not only information about visiting Nicosia, but also a lot of information about Cyprus. a highly highly highly recommended experience. This place has a soul that is open to visitors.

Maybe someone avoids visiting northern cyprus or sleeping in northern nicosia: start with a night in this carefully maintained structure and you will be convinced that maybe northern cyprus is even more beautiful than southern. 😉

From start to finish, we were impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. The location of the guesthouse is simply ideal. It is situated in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, yet conveniently close to many attractions, shops and restaurants. We were able to easily explore the area and enjoy everything it had to offer. What really made our stay memorable was the friendliness and helpfulness of the guesthouse staff. They went out of their way to ensure that we felt welcome and comfortable during our stay. It was clear that they truly cared about making our experience as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast provided by the guesthouse was simply delicious. We enjoyed a variety of fresh and tasty options, including different types of cheese, pastries and hot coffee. It was the perfect start to our day. Overall, we would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in a great location. The staff, hospitality, and breakfast were all exceptional and we could not have asked for a better experience

Beautifully renovated property, comfortable room and bed, super shower. Very peaceful in the old city. Nice garden area to sit out in and we appreciated the use of the kitchen. Gul Hanim House is an absolute pearl. You can see the attention to detail that makes this place so magnificent. Be it in the choice of antique furniture or the planting in the gorgeous courtyard. And the whole thing is topped by Selay's never-ending hospitality. Here we had the best breakfast on the island. Among other things, with a selection of 10 different home-made jams. Honestly, Selay could charge twice as much and it would still be worthy of the service and the performance that the guests receive. Her şey için teşekkür ederim!

Great Turkish breakfast with best ever freshly squeezed orange juice. Highly recommend to spend 1-2 nights in Northern Nicosia and of course stay here!

Such a wonderful experience staying in this authentically refurbished home. The place itself was beautiful, comfortable and ideally located. There's a lovely courtyard in which to relax, and access to a kitchen for water, tea and coffee anytime and use of the fridge. The owner is so friendly and helpful, it's really like being part of the family. I was travelling alone and had no problems crossing the border in Nicosia. I was given a helpful map with suggestions of what to see and where to eat - all of which I took. Absolute gem of a place.
