The location is superb with easy access to the Schloss Wartburg, and (downhill) to Eisenach. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The room had a lovely view of the Wartburg Castle - beautiful.

The car parking was ample, although certain guests were inconsiderate in taking up too much space - not the hotel’s fault. This could be alleviated by car parking was markings.

This converted music school makes for a wonderful hotel experience. The staff were helpful and polite. The hotel grounds were gorgeous as was the building. The hotel sits at the top of a hill with beautiful views, but a fairly narrow, winding road for access. You should be okay with some cautious driving. We could see Wartburg castle clearly from our bedroom window. The hotel breakfast was typical for what we saw in Germany. The buffet included coffee, fruit, juice, deli meat, rolls, etcetera. Bacon appeared to be by request only. The breakfast room overlooks a forest, and has a clear view of Wartburg castle in the huge windows. If the weather allows, the breakfast room also has a large patio. The building has a lot of stairs. The front door has a set, as does the breakfast area, half the rooms, as well as the ballrooms. My wife and I were fine dragging luggage, but this is something to remember. The Americans with Disabilities Act does not apply to 100+ year old German historic buildings. If we go to Eisenach again, this hotel is top on our list.

The road getting to the mountain where Haus Hainstein sits is narrow with many switchbacks. You will need to drive at a reasonable speed to get there safely.

Nice location, but hard to reach due to road contruction. Very good breakfast with a view.

Found some old empty beer cans in a cupboard, but the room was clean otherrwise.

We loved the hills, the woods and the remoteness of the hotel- I suppose whatever room you can take you will have a good sleep. Also a very good german cuisine.

Well, it is not affecting the overall rating of the hotel, however something was not ok. It happen that after having a dinner in the Haus Hainstain restaurant (very tasty) one of is was dead sick all the day after, not able to move and eat anything that day. It is kind of strange as everything was tasty and smelling good, maybe that was a combination of a heavy gravy and unfiltered bear, however the fact was extremely unpleasant and spoiling totally our stay in Eisenach.

It's a beautiful hotel, with a great view of the castle from my room. The time are very pretty. It's walking distance through the lovely forest up to Wartburg Castle or down to the town. The restaurant is really great too.

Just the taxi drivers in the area. Not helping with luggage and one overcharged me.

The location is really nice, the view on the Wartburg great. Very good the breakfast and the food at the restaurant. Nice old-house charm.

The bathroom has no light but a sensor, that turns the light on automatically also when not needed. The bar area is small and the chairs are so uncomfortable that you don’t want to stay long. Too bad, as there is nowhere else to go in the neighborhood. Some staff member were a bit unfriendly with non German customers.

Great location, fantastic views of the Wartburg Castle. Great restaurant, nice terrace, bar open all of the time.

Lack of A/C

Well equipped hotel with fantastic views of the Wartburg. Good portion of salmon with my scrambled eggs! Fantastic building and the dining terrace is beautiful - and open at breakfast time.

This will be a temporary thing but in August 2023 there were a lot of road closures on the routes into the hotel. Given that it's at the top of the hill in the middle of a one way system it made it really tricky to find.

I liked the view of the Wartburg and the forest. The staff were very friendly. He suggested things to visit around Eisenach and sells a map of the Rennsteig. The location is perfect for light hikers, halfway between Wartburg and Eisenach. Parking was very easy and free. Nice breakfast with a beautiful view and good service. Possibility of sending a postcard from the hotel. I have recommended this hotel to my friends who have stayed there since.
