Friendly staff. The room is super large. Wifi is blazing fast. Across the check-in counter you can conveniently buy Huis ten Bosch tickets. Super convenient. There’s even a boat canal cruise at the hotel into Huis ten Bosch. There’s a convenience store on the 1st floor. The air conditioner is completely silent which was super nice. The hot spring can be used for free by guests staying at the hotel. It costs 1,600 yen if not staying at the hotel. I had a park view balcony which was super awesome. There is a humidifier in the room.

The room’s soundproofing could be better, I can hear other guests talking outside my door. The curtains let light in at the bottom in the morning, if they were a little longer to block out light it would be better.

It's a great little village, the atmosphere was exceptional. Rooms were comfortable, and staff were attentive, especially the gentlemen in the starlight cruise bar. We had a great time at the hotel and surrounds. Wish we stayed longer. 2 nights was not enough!

Accommodation cost doesn't include entry to the theme park. There were no tours directly from the hotel, and to get to Sasebo or Nagasaki were an hr+ train ride away. There is also a rich war history in Huis Ten bosch that is not advertised. If you come, make sure to do your research and experience, not just the theme park but the hikes and history Huis Ten Bosch has to offer.

The view of Huis Ten Bosch in a snow fall from our room was spectacular - like being in a snow globe. Getting there on the train was fun itself, and it was a quick walk from the station to the hotel, and another quick walk to the park. We took the direct rapid train from Hakata Station. The hot springs bath in the snow was a lovely treat. The Family Mart and Bakery provided excellent choices for a quick bite. I had forgotten my backpack on the train and the staff helped me communicate with the Hakata Train Station to locate it. Luckily I was able to retrieve it fully intact.

The instructions for the boat ferry could have been more clear. My friend had difficulty getting on the ferry , and the staff was not really thorough in helping to settle it. Very little dining options in the area.

Wonderful classical style hotel, albeit with dated bathrooms. Our room looked out to the scenic and expansive Huis Ten Bosch park and surrounds. Staff were friendly and housekeeping was immaculate. There was also a boat ride to the park entrance for hotel guests. The onsen, although crowded during our Christmas period stay was well organised and clean. Special mention to the wonderful Chinese restaurant staff who thoughtfully dimmed the restaurant lights for the park’s fireworks display. The food there was delicious too.

Perhaps a refurbishment of bathrooms will spruce the rooms up a little more, given this is a premium property and has such a magical facade.

if you are looking at this, you are most likely going to visit the HTB theme park or even Nagasaki Biopark (which i truly highly recommend) having said that, unless you are willing to pay for much higher room prices then you can look at the official hotels from HTB, then your main 2 options are this hotel and hotel lorelai (the one next to HTB station) the pricing here compared to the others are considered reasonable but do not have discount for HTB tickets, they also have the in-house hot spring bath if you are into those overall, cleanliness and room space are quite good and its not even a far walking distance from HTB station and HTB itself.

two minor things i wanted to point out during my 2 days experience here. 1. the hot spring is great but expect it to be packed with people and this isn't really the hotel's fault but some visitors can be unruly and rude eg. bringing kids to swim in hot spring, making unnecessary loud noises, etc 2. for each day, you are given a the hot spring ticket which you can get a 150 yen refund if unused - this is NOT clearly stated in english and only in japanese, so if foreigners are not aware then they are basically ripped off 150 yen for each unused tickets *you need to manually check out AND inform the counter that you want the refunds, if you don't mention it they might conveniently 'forgot' to inform you

While the area is showing its age in certain ways (as mentioned in other reviews), the room and overall interior of the hotel are beautifully maintained and clean. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed our time. We took advantage of the offerings in the area and had a relaxing weekend.

There is nothing we didn't enjoy, everything was amazing. The room cost was clearly the off-peak price with regular luxury resort prices for restaurants and other items. Hotel has areas that were being renovated but were not disruptive to our enjoyment of the hotel.

We were amazed and captivated by the facade of the hotel. It looked as if we were about to enter Disneyland! As we drove towards the entrance of the hotel, a bellhop with a trolley was already waiting, ready to collect our luggage. We arrived before 1 pm. We were allowed to check in but keys would only be issued at 3 pm. However after a buffet lunch at the hotel restaurant, (around 2.30 pm), we were able to collect our keys and our luggage were already safely placed in one of our rooms. We appreciated this gesture very much. The staff - the bellhop, the receptionist and everybody we encountered, were friendly, courteous and helpful. The boat ride from the hotel into the theme park was pleasurable as it gave one a glimpse of areas of the park which one might not be able to see. I highly recommend taking the boat ride at least once for the hotel guests and I assume this service is only opened to hotel guests. The short walk from the hotel to the park was a pleasurable one as there are many shops and restaurants lining the way. Although facing the big car park, our rooms were quiet. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the comforter was thick enough for the night. The breakfast table had a good spread. We had a hearty breakfast. To sum up, we enjoyed our stay at Okura Hotel.

We hardly had time to relax in the hotel as we spent all our waking hours in the theme park. Thus we had no faults to find with the hotel.

When we arrived to check in at the hotel reception on the 2nd floor, the conceirge ( a lady) was waiting with the trolley to take our luggages to our rooms. Wonderful service. The staffs are excellent, very friendly and helpful. For the rooms they upgraded us to rooms overlooking the theme park and close together. Really appreciate their thoughtfullness. We are a group of 6 paxs. The hotel is beautiful outside and inside too. They provide a boat ride to the theme park. At night, after closing time at the park, it is only a few minutes walk back to the hotel, super convenient. Also there is a Family Mart downstairs for snacks or souvenirs. The rooms are more spacious than other hotels in Japan. The sheets and pillows are clean and bed are comfortable. The public bath on the 1st floor is so good. It is spacious and clean. They provide plenty of nice amenities, shampoo, conditioner, body shampoo, toothbrushes, hairbrushes etc . As for breakfast, we were given a choice of local and western. We went for the local. It was so good with lots of varieties to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Huis Ten Bosch.

Nothing I didnt like.

Celebrating my 40th birthday at Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch was truly magical. The staff's thoughtfulness shone through with an unexpected gift of a beautiful lavender teddy bear. While the decor may be dated, the exceptional service and stunning environment more than make up for it. My room offered breathtaking views of the park and ocean, making me feel like I was living in a postcard. The hotel's location is ideal, with easy access to Huis Ten Bosch park entrance, car park, and bus stop. Transportation from Nagasaki Airport was seamless, with a short walk from the bus stop to the hotel.Despite the outdated interiors, I have no complaints - only gratitude for an unforgettable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Huis Ten Bosch and will definitely return in the future.

I get it when many reviews mention that the hotel is showing signs of age - but it was still very comfortable and enjoyable. For the location (3min walk to HTB), it's already one of the best value for money options. The park view room offered scenic views at dawn from the balcony and at night. Onsite parking space is huge and convenient. We arrived at the breakfast later than intended but still enjoyed the mix of international and Japanese food options. We likely won't be visiting HTB again but this is a good choice for a short stay.
