I had a great time at this hostel! The layout was really good, with plenty of common areas both inside and out. An added bonus also having an in-house bar with great happy hour offers. The staff were all fantastic, friendly, provided good recommendations and always up for a chat. Guests were super friendly, inclusive and up for hanging out, I met some great travel buddies during my stay. You can also run a tab for drinks and towel hire (100 peso for hire), then settle it on check out. Plenty of showers and toilets, which were kept really clean, beds were comfortable and there were massive storage cages for each guest in my 4 bed dorm (take your own lock or you can purchase one at the bar). You can join a hostel Whatsapp group chat, which is such a fab idea to meet people and join activities. Breakfast was fairly basic, but did the job.

The pool was under renovation during my stay, this could of perhaps been done during a quieter time of the year. You couldn't get wifi in the rooms, only common areas. But when connected, the WiFi was good.

Great restoration of very old building. Good use of space in small rooms. Love the garden area and patio breakfast / meeting area, pool table. Pool available, more like a dunk.pond, but it's water, wet and cooling in that hot sun.

At breakfast, twice I went to get some scrambled eggs, and they were " gone". A minor inconvenience. . Nice they offer breakfast, and morning coffee. More important, there is no drinkable water to access, except in kitchen and bar, and Sales of small water bottles at the bar. I like to reuse my water bottles. Stop with the single use plastics

I was looking specifically for a traditional, colonial place for my stay, but at the same time I was on a budget, because I was at the end of my travels. Luckily I managed to book with Island life - I booked last minute, before boarding the flight and they were quick to reply that someone would be able to check me in, as I was arriving around 1 am I loved the what's app communication- they were giving lots of info on what to do, where to eat and what was happening in the city. I went on a tour and met other people staying in other places, and I definitely seen more in a day then they did, because of all the inside tricks the hostel provided

Everything was perfect for me. Thank you for hosting me

People working at this hostel are amazing, truly go above and beyond to ensure that you enjoy your stay and have a great time. You’ll have no issues finding someone to join you for a night out or a day trip. Amenities are clean and modern, location is super safe yet close to the main spots. Hostel has it’s own bar with super affordable drinks, and they even do coffee (highly recommended). The breakfast is delicious, internet is quick and I would definitely stay here again.

Perfectly located in zona colonial the hostel has a very good vibe, all the other guests, people working there and the volunteers were very cool. I only spent few days there but in general I liked the common areas, and I was surprised by the breakfast which was really good and always good start of the day. I was lucky to have A/C inside the room even if this one was only activated at night. I liked the fact that there were a lot of restaurants, and a very good coffee place just a street away from the hostel.

The water pressure in the showers was very weak sometimes and it was a bit uncomfortable to take a good shower, the Wifi was good in the common areas but at least in my room the network was not very stable.

Great location, really nice common areas with a backyard with pool, an on-site bar and a lounge area with TV. Included breakfast with pancakes and scrambled eggs every morning.

The smaller dorms were like furnaces with close to no windows/sunlight. Fans above each bed had to be turned on 24/7 and with 4 of them in the room created a lot of noise and a soar throat after a few nights in the draft/wind. Would go for a bigger dorm with french balcony and full windows next time.

I really liked the staff. They were so helpful and answered all my questions and went above and beyond in giving me advice. They were so helpful. I really appreciate them. The reason why I booked a hostel for a night was because I needed guidance about renting a car and how I should go about it, and their input was really helpful. I went over my itinerary with them as well. Very welcoming people. They give excellent breakfast in the morning. It is walking distance to the main areas. There is a place to dry clothes if anyone wants to. nice comfortable beds.

It was pretty hot in the dorm. I had chosen the one without air conditioner. But it is so hot in the city. They did have individual fans for each bed, which was nice. The bathrooms would get extremely hot as well. Maybe if they have a fan over there or an exhaust that would be helpful.

the breakfast is excellent more than enough to set you up for the day, eggs, toast, pancakes, juice and coffee.the colonial zone is quite small so any location would be good for sight seeing, but the hostels location is also quiet.the beds were comfortable with fan and aircon and although my room was quite small there was enough space under the bunks and in lockers to store belongings.

I chose this hostel specifically because I was travelling solo, and the thought of meeting others and doing things around Santo Domingo sounded and looked perfect (from photos and other reviews). All the staff were great to deal with, personable, and the owner Chris was also very easy to talk with, we had many a chat about English footy. I probably should've seen more of Santo Domingo, but I had such a good time with the people I met, it made it worthwhile. Highly recommended.

Perfect Location, Close to town / Chinese Town / Bus Park

SantO Domingo is pretty hot. 1) They switch AC form 2100~ 2) I see there so many energy waste. All lights on day time, nobody switch off. I tried but found the switch is out of order. 3) So I proposed the owner, Mr.Chris, why NOT use motion detector and at least Community room out AC day time, so that people get together. Due to HOT, almost impossible to stay at Hostel during day time
